It's another ultimatum. "Buy now or lose $10!" Sorry, but that kinda pisses me off. It would be a nice bonus if it were just that, a bonus; but it's not. It's a carrot, and Nintendo's holding the stick.
Note: I'm a bit grumpy today, so my comments may come off more angry than usual.
as i indicated by what i said in the brackets i think it may be a good thing altogether. between on-rails spin-offs and nothing, i'd take nothing any day. if they don't want the hardcore market on the system, some other developers quite possibly a lot worthier (and more imaginative) will take it (like sega for example). if people stop finding stupid light-gun spin-offs of familiar franchises to brainlessly buy, then maybe they'll turn their attention to one of the many worthwhile hardcore efforts going unnoticed for lack of a recognisable license.

i agree, and though the 1000 point bonus is a nice touch it's certainly nothing to rush one's potential purchase of a system over. having said that i don't know how i'd feel if nintendo made Flipnote Studio a limited time offer. that may have been one carrot i wouldn't be happy to ignore

I can't believe I would have to defend Nintendo in this place. I hope Iwata is proud of me.
Wiiware is also turning into a nice place for indie. World of Goo and Strongbad both sold better on wiiware than on the PC. The only thing I do not like is that Nintendo control when they release a game. But releasing all the games when they are ready would also cause big problems. You can have good games being drowned out by mass of bad games, there needs to be a rating system and demo's. Oh and reviewers need to get out of their lazy ass and review wiiware/indie games.
iPhone is also doing nice things.
You know what's kind of depressing about gaming these days? You're going to get screwed no matter how long you wait for the best deals.
I mean, look at how many old games are being re-released with enhancements or as part of a collection now. Or how DLC will come out, then get put on a actual disc in a collection later (gta4 liberty city stories as an example).
Its like every game that comes out or any DLC that comes out now, I find myself wondering "should I get this NOW? Or should I wait for the inevitable BETTER version with the better deals?" All the re-releases on Wii seem great now, but just wait until the next N system comes out and once again superior versions are released. Now we also have God Of War Collection on PS3, etc. Its the wave of the future. Nothing is ever "finished".
those are words of wisdom. otherwise one always feels cheated. it's the same with prices dropping and looking at johnny-come-latelys get the game for a fraction of the money you paid at launch, or getting the special editions or GOTY editions with expansions and all the bells and whistles etc. one should avoid looking at it that way otherwise they'll always wait for something more/cheaper/spruced up etc instead of enjoying what's available

A friend of mine always stays one console gen behind. Right now, he's enjoying PS2, GC, Xbox 1, and GBA. He's done this ever since I've known him, and I kinda thought he was a little crazy.
However, this gen makes me believe that he's actually the smart one. He gets to buy games for $1-10 that I paid full price for, and consoles for $50 or less that I paid hundereds of dollars for on or near release. He's a cheap bastard, but he plays all the same game I do, just for a tiny fraction of the price. The only catch is that he has to wait four or five years to play them. That doesn't seem like such a bad thing anymore.
You are so wise.
I totally agree, as usual. Great minds think alike.
It also depends on the remake, IMO. For example, like Archangel listed, a enhanced remake like Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD is awsome! And to those who love God of War or Metroid Prime, the re-release of God of War I & II and Metroid Prime Trilogy are great. They're not only great just to have as a collection but to play them in a brand new way is also welcome.
But I also agree with Edge. Some re-releases just piss me off. Especially what Namco-Bandai has been doing and some of the other Japanese developers. Like Tales of Vesperia, saying it was a timed-exclusive on the 360 and then re-releasing the same game on the PS3 with better features. Or even BlazBlue and how Europe is getting new characters and features. These are terrible ways on re-releasing games. At least God of War, Metroid Prime, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo were old classics, or even REmake and Resident Evil 4 Wii. But things like Tales of Vesperia, BlazBlue, and even Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 kind of ticks me off.

That entire list is just laughably bad. 25 - 15 is pretty meaningless, though I'll admit the PS3 isn't getting the respect it deserves at #15, but for all the flaws in the initial marketing I suppose its reputation still has a ways to go to be repaired. But after that it's just ridiculous. PS1 only ranked at 7. The Wii ranked at 10 and was actually behind the N64 and the Dreamcast.... and how the hell did the Dreamcast come in at number 8??
It was a description of the 'Another Marona' mode in the game!
This is an incredible addition to the game, as PB starts a bit easier than a few other NI games, so those looking for a greater challenge can start right there!
I find it very cool that NI was able to reunite all the english voice actors to revisit their roles even after this many years!
The original story mode is something like 20 chapters LONG already; this bonus content is hardly even necessary, but totally appreciated!
