Taking my sweet time on Batman Arkham Asylum. Haven't touched it yet, only the intro. I really want to take my time on this one. Because I know that I'll get hooked and forget everything else!
I need to enjoy my other games first!

Did you trade your old model in?
Also, how is it?
I guess I'm sort of jealous!

I like it --A LOT-- better than the original model.
It's not glossy and flashy now, it's kinda subtly sleek.
I thought the matte finish would make it look cheaper; the exact opposite is true. The gloss and chrome made the other look gaudy. The redesigned face logo, the smaller, formerly rotatable logo, the illuminated buttons and the totally black exterior look very classy!
The slimness just works. Looking at it from above...
**Oops! I just realized the area around the buttons is still slightly reflective --BUT-- when the system is laying down, it reflects the black body and blends in so you don't see it, giving the illusion of an entirely black system!**
...What I was going to say was, looking at it from above it now looks square --NOT-- the chunky rectangle that it was! It just looks like a higher-end piece of electronic equipment!
It runs totally silently. You can FEEL the fan at work; You just don't HEAR it...! It picks up my wireless signal better than my old 80-gig --EVER-- did. I get a full 100% now! I don't know why that is.
New things I've noticed: (1) A new instrumental opening when the system boots up and (2) Don't know why this would be true --BUT-- games take a second or two longer to load, but run faster when loaded...(?)
I like the Power and Eject buttons so much more than the sensor ones. I would get a tiny static shock almost every time I would turn my system on or off, and each time I would think to myself: "That CAN'T be good for the system!"
I LOVE the fact that it is lighter! It feels well put together and the overall weight is just distributed better. The old one felt like it would fall apart under its own weight when I lifted it! When I travel (which is often) just thaaat much less poundage to carry around makes a --BIG-- difference!
Finally, even the best apartments in Manhattan are subjected to occasional, rolling brown-outs. I would sometimes turn on my AC, my TV and my PS3 and half my apartment would blow a fuse! I am hoping the 30% less power consumption will remedy that! We'll see!
Overall, I am incredibly impressed with the redesign!
Sony --FINALLY-- did something --RIGHT-- this generation!!!
**I guess I can forgive them for Little Big Planet now!**
Nice grab there Leo. I was thinking of picking up a PS3 Slim this coming week but I ended up grabbing a copy of Blazblue, finally, and Batman AA so I'll have to wait a little bit longer yet. I'll likely get it next month because I want to also get Halo 3: ODST.
The only thing I had saved on it were Batman: AA and Street Fighter IV.
Batman transferred fine. SFIV... Nope! Looks like I'm unlocking all the characters again...!
About 8 hours of:
Hello there, fugly!
...and about 8 minutes of:
--There IS a difference! I knew it! The only thing is, for me, Batman took a few seconds longer to load up from the PS3 menu, but took less time to load while actually IN the game itself. Strange! I did download the 2.80 update after that, so I have to see if it makes a difference.
I kinda expected that. The DS version is almost really a version for people who are already familiar with Disgaea; who just want to play it on the go. It's certainly works once you get into it, but it's not the best version of the game.
Try renting Phantom Brave and give it a few hours. Like I said, they are daunting, but once Nippon Ichi games click, you'll see the brilliance under the surface!
Phantom Brave has been on my radar even before your post this weekend. The fact that it's starting at only $40 is pretty nice too. I'll give it a look perhaps later in the week. Lord knows i need something long and hard to sink my teeth into this week (boy that sounds bad), especially since the wife is out of town for most of the week (dear lord now it sounds even worse).
Hey Robio, you said you have a PSP right? Than I highly recommend the PSP version. I also had the DS one and felt it was tough to play and it hurt my eyes. Plus, the sounds and music felt really low for some reason.
But got the PSP version and I'm completely satisfied with it. Everything looks and sounds great! Plus it's easier to control (with the analog) and it's easier on the eyes because of the resolution.

NOW YOU'RE SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE!
Well I cant forgive you Leo. How could you.
I like my phat, I think it looks better, touch sensitive buttons kick ass and I can play PS2 games in HD. I just hope it wont break.
Man is that song amazing. I am usually a stickler for classic theme songs, if a game had a theme song it should use it forever, but that song makes me want that as the official Metroid theme forevermore.
