I'd be interested in a tourney, although I think it'll be impossible to get enough of us together at one time.
Also: anyone else notice that if you honk your horn, everyone nearby hops a foot into the air? Such an odd thing to include in the game.
anyone up for mk8 now? I'll keep an eye out should anyone come online on the wiU
I'd love to do a tourney as well, but I haven't been around much lately. Sadly I don't see that changing much over the next few weeks.
So I've been looking into this Mario Kart tournament stuff (for the last 5 minutes at least). It could be that it doesn't require us all to be online at the same time. It seems that you can have it open for a longer period of time and that you can turn on CPU's. This could mean that we can play asynchronimous against each other or against the CPU and points will just be tallied depending on how we raced and a ranking will be made with all of our scores. Not as entertaining as beating you all at once of course, but if possible it's at least a bit more realistic.
I'll try to set up a tournament next time I find some game time.
Which control scheme are you guys using. I tried the remote alone (without wheelie thingy) and I hate it. Just can't get it right. I need an analog stick control but I don't have a classic pro-controller and I don't want to hold the pad. I wonder if the original classic controller attachment would work
Ravenprose said:I use the Upad, but I'm certain the original Classic Controller works with MK8 too.
Yes, when I first connected it I thought it didn't, but I now got it to work. Controlls still feel a little cumbersome to me still compared to previous MKs. Perhaps I need to experiment with different charecters/vehicles/wheels etc
This is really strange. I never counted myself as a very big Mario Kart fan. I mean, sure I bought and played every game in the series. And fair enough I do have very fond memories of the ones I played with friends (original, double-dash, DS) but for the most part I usually expect to play for a few sessions until I've seen all the course etc and then I usually get bored and quit. MK8 is doing strange things to me. I don't know what it is exactly but the more I play the more I want to play ... and all I've done so far is single player grand-prix races. Hate to say it but I'm kinda hooked.
I spent much of this morning playing online. Every race had anything from 9-12 players ... with several of them staying for many rounds. All very responsive. Didn't experience any lag and was playing with people from all over the world. Sad as it may sound I have very little experience with online gaming and it is generally something I don't enjoy (in fact it causes me a high level of anxiety). But MK8 online is different.
Is any one of you guys still playing this, or interested in getting back into it now with the DLC pack?
BTW How many CCs is the online mode? Is it 100cc?
I've been playing again now that 200cc has been released and I got the first DLC pack free. I'd be up for some online racing, although I won't have a lot of time in the next few weeks.
I think online racing randomly switches between different cc's, but it's been ages since I played online, so I'm not sure. I have the same thing as you, I'm very stressed when playing online, even more so when it's against people I know.
Wooo, I was on a roll! 5 straight victories, despite some gorilla on a jetbike partaking in most of them
