I have been trying to beat the last chapter in Bravely Default this weekend, without much luck so far.  Usually been trying every day between 10pm and 1am, and it's starting to grind me down physically.  I better get this over with soon.  Once this is done, I will have beaten my first game of the year (huzzah) and will turn to Enslaved, which I'll try to stream to my telly through the Steam Link I got for Christmas.

In non-gaming related news, yesterday marked our first BBQ of the year as temperatures soared up to 20°C.  Of course they're back down to about 13°C today...

So how did you spend the weekend, fellow warriors of light?

I'm calling it now: Miitomo to be the NX's version of Miiverse.  I don't see it having legs as a standalone social app, but as an expanded Miiverse it could have lasting power

Playing Gunstar Heroes and rearranging the furniture to magically create space, allowing the reinstatement of my Wii as a usable console. The two experiences were much the same, though one produced more dust than the other.

Did you reinstate the Wii with a specific game you want to play in mind, or is it more for that comforting feeling that, should you want to ever use it, it's set up and ready?

Gunstar Heroes is my gateway drug to Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. But probably it'll be more like going from heroin to marijuana.

Ah yeah, I seem to have missed the great Nintendo debate over the weekend.  So despite seeming a Johny-come-lately, I'm going to give my ranking as well:

  1. GameCube
  2. N64
  3. Wii
  4. NES
  5. DS
  6. Gameboy (includes all itterations)
  7. GBA
  8. WiiU
  9. SNES
  10. 3DS

I'm sure a lot of people will wholehartedly disagree with me, but the list is based on my enjoyment of said systems in their respective era.

To all who say the gamecube was worst: you're obviously disillusional.  Super Mario Sunshine may not hold a warm place in many hearts and I agree some of it's levels lacked that Nintendo pollish we expect from them, but there were just as many other levels that can go toe to toe with anything Galaxy ever offered up.  I also enjoyed just goofing around in Sunshine, something that is nearly impossible to do in Galaxy due to the linear nature of its levels.

As for the rest: the first Luigi's Mansion, the best Rogue squadron game in Rogue Leader (and the co-op campaign as an extra in Rebel Strike) the first Animal Crossing, Viewtifull Joe, RE4, PN.03, the best Smash, Soul Calibur 2, Burnout2, F-zero GX, metroid Prime 1&2, the most endearing Zelda, even if it was a tad short despite padding in the last third of the game, Wave Race Blue Storm, a very enjoyable Mario Kart, the best modern day Donkey Kong with DK: Jungle Beat, insanity with Odama and Doshin the Giant, ...

Don't understand the 3DS complaints.  Excellent library of games and hassle free affordable portable 3D.  What's there not to love?

With the navigation not properly working it's kind of a pain in the butt to go in there so it's easy to just not think about it.

Nintendo ruined Miiverse when they messed up the personal feeds, only showing the lastest post of each of your friends. Made it impossible to follow. Then it started fragmenting off discussions from player journals and drawings. You used to have this awesome mash up of everything in one big thread where everyone would be.

Reading all your ancient console lists from the weekend. Hilarious.

I'll just say, what console sucked more than any other? GENESIS LOL

What console is secretly Vaders favourite? WII U

Listmania has truely taken over the VGPress.

We are finally creatures of the 21st century, busier making lists of things than actively enjoying them.

Reading and making lists doesn't seem as fun anymore. Sad. How about top ten favorite VGPress quotes?
