Not that it's going to help you much, but if you look back in the news section, months ago, I predicted the New 3DS would come to the US at the same time as MH4. That just makes sense; maybe it'll be a bit smoother and maybe there will be a few camera options when played on the newer hardware. The nub will help with camera controls in and of itself; I haven't heard any enhancements while playing on the New, but, then again, knowing how popular MH is in Japan, I would be surprised if they didn't take advantage of the faster processor to show of the new hardware somehow.

most notably a Paper Mario T-shirt and that golden Link and Epona statue.  I'm thinking of using up all my remaining points.  I still have about 10000 points to spend.  And nothing good to spend them on.  Golf balls or a fake Game&Watch

After having spent some more time with the demo, I can say that I'm very impressed by the graphics.  Seems like the self shadowing also applies during gameplay, and each area is a lot larger than those seen in Tri.  The verticallity also makes for very distinct locations.  The only draw back so far visually is the unsurprising lack of transparent alpha textures.  They tell you to avoid the 'black smog' when fighting Gore Magala.  In essence, the 'smog' is just a simple texture circling around a circular area.

edit: also, camera controls with a virtual D-pad on the touchscreen work pretty well.  I think I could enjoy this without buying the circle pad add-on monstrosity.

Which will result in me holding off spending points and having to settle with getting utter crap last minute because nothing good was added.

I never registered any of my games except when there was some very obvious and easy promotion like register Mario Kart to get another game.  I have most of those stupid cards unscratched and I'm sure they bulk of them expired many years ago.

I'm happy to see Club Nintendo is being retired for something new. Aside from some games, I think I've gotten a couple poster sets (Gold and Platinum awares aside), but that's about it. And they've recycled the game selection enough times that I think I've claimed everything that's worth claiming. Hopefully this will be the start of that program they mentioned that would allow their best customers to use a sliding pay scale and early access. Still, I hope they still do Platinum Rewards this year. I hit that mark in record speed this year, and I've earned it dammit!

Well I guess it's time to start spending my club Nintendo points.

So I finished Captain Toad, got everything on all 3 books (the only way to play). I still have a few bonus levels to do.

I tried to start Smash and I just have this Smash Paralysis. I cannot play the game, cannot start it. I turn it on and look at the bewildering array of menus and just dont know where to start. So I read 28 pages of the digital manual instead. I read it for so long I turned the game off and will continue reading when it goes back on.

Looking at the way the game plays the dashes, shields, throws and special moves all work the same way they always have. So why can't I just play it?

It doesn't help that it doesn't appear to have a single player mode (at a cursory glance). It's there in the menus if you look around though, but it seems like it's just a side mode. It's the same classic mode from past games, yet, somehow I dont seem able to work past this paralysis. I think the one thing pushing me on is offscreen play. Oh yeah over Christmas I played that huge DK level with lava and even on a 50" TV I had to strain to see my character he was so small on the screen.
