Didn't get a chance to do this over the weekend, well, because I didn't play anything over the weekend! This, however, is what I have been playing all day today:
This game has been the best reason yet to own a PS4, and it simply has everything I love in games all rolled into one. The Leveling, the Loot, the Social Aspects and the Gun Play all add up to something that comes ever so close to Borderlands 2... The MMO stuff thrown on top of all that is just icing on the cake! I don't understand the hate it is getting, but then again, you know what? I don't want to understand. I don't think the haters know why they hate it either. There's a dark road these non-gamers are going down that will lead to nothing ever being good enough and ultimatly these people will become both boring and bored and will wander off to hate something else about life in general... Really, it's their destiny...
I dunno, the criticism seems pretty clear from what I've read about it: great mechanics let down by comparatively shallow equipment system that has little tangible effect on gameplay, awful communication system, and repetitive and hollow structure/level design. I can't say if I agree with that given I've not played it and have no interest in playing it, but clearly the criticism towards Destiny is cogent, whether or not it's accurate.
Except the equipment DOES make a big difference and I don't get how a shooter is being criticized for making you shoot a lot of things. It's like a racing game being criticized for making you drive. It's an MMO that has elements of all the other shooters out there at the moment, but it's made by Bungie so the shooting is that much better. The only thing I WILL agree with is the communication aspect, but I wouldn't use it anyway.
I'm just so tired of people playing both ends of the spectrum. I've seen people bitch and moan about AAA games being mass-produced, soul-less, evil entities that are ruining gaming, and then those same people turn around and complain about Indie games too. Seriously? What's left then? It's impossible to make people happy these days and I'm just about done, hearing all the incessant whining. How can people make a hobby as fun as gaming so UN-fun?

It basically combines Batman style fighting with Lord of the Rings lore and bit of Assassin's Creed exploration for good measure. Check it out:
