GG is a pussy now. He used to be a Rugby playing stud that shat in your mouth if you looked at him funny. Now he can't even crap in the toilet.

I've actually grown more powerful. My poo's are so hard I can knock them over people's heads, like rocks.

It means that the 360 can live on for who knows how many more years cause its getting better sales than it ever has. The wii on the other hand is on the way out, it shows that Nintendo needs to move first, as we all predicted, the Wii had to be the first console out.

NPD is good for predicting future trends, but I believe that its numbers should always be taken in context. And that is why the gamasutra analysis' are always good to read. If you do the math, see the difference between the monthly sales, then see the install base gap, you can do the math and estimate how long it would theoretically take for 360 to catch up with Wii's sales. Saying that the 360 is the number 1 console like you just did is exactly the impression NPD gives.

How useful is that figure when the 360 is in third place worldwide and millions of units behind Wii in install base? That's why I would prefer 6 month reports, or even yearly reports and the figures should then be added to the LTD sales to give an accurate picture of what is happening.

Think about 2009 NPD, Wii was dragging all year in monthly reports and that is what the monthly NPD sales showed. Then Wii has a record breaking Christmas which shoots it back to the top as selling the most for the whole year. Look at the recent 2010 Japanese report which showed that PS3 had beaten the Wii for this year. PS3 is in the lead, it's the number 1 console!

And then a week later install base figures are released for Japan showing that PS3 had sold 5.5 million in Japan, compared to Wii's 10 million. So when you take the whole figures in their totality it's much more enlightening than monthly North American figures.

Last generation the PS2 absolutely spanked the GC and Xbox with 100 million sold. And instead the media concentrated on the losers race pissing match, painting the Xbox as some huge winner against the GC when there was only a worldwide 4 million difference between the two. Hello...... PS2 sold 5 times as much either console.

I love figures, but they should always be shown in context to show the whole picture and not just a snapshot. Otherwise they are misleading.

No one is arguing the total figures, everyone knows that wii is the leader worldwide and that is not going to change. I don't get why you are so caught up in the total figures, that is in the past, the whole purpose of the NPD is to know where we are at right now. The Wii is in third place this month. The 360 is the best selling console in America so far this year and for five months straight it is the leader, this is not some fluke at this point, its the real deal. Right now, the 360 is the best selling console month and month out and I see it continuing until something major changes. Nintendo can't sit around saying "hahahaha" you will never catch up. It's not about catching up to the totals, that is irrelevant, its about always maintaning your lead. It doesn't how much the product has sold, when the product starts to slow down in sales it's time to do something to fix that. A price drop will help, the christmas time will of course bring in lots of sales but overall I think we are clearly in the downward slope of the Wii. Meanwhile the 360 clearly is on an upslope and still have tons of life left.

I am caught up because NPD is just a snapshot. People look for headlines because they are too lazy to read the in depth analysis. Numbers are only useful when they are used in context. And again you are only looking at NA sales, what the crap does this matter to Canadians on this site, or Greeks, or Mexicans or Austrailians, or the Brits, or Japanese people? 360 can do all it wants in NA but when PS3 and Wii sell in Japan too, then what? Because most of the gaming press is American they act like only NA sales matter. We just heard weeks ago that PS3 had overtaken 360 worldwide.

By focusing on the now, you are ignoring the past, which does matter. If the 360 is selling however much now, but the wii was selling twice as much for years before, how does focusing on the now matter, when compared to the results we already have? We already know that Wii doesn't and never did have, a 10 year lifecycle and it was already a blatantly obvious assumption that they wouldn't attempt to stretch it out longer. When the Xbox 1 outsold the PS2 in one month, was it suddenly the best selling console to watch? When the PS2 had sold 5 X more already?

By focusing on the now sales you are saying that it's better to start poorly and get better than start great and get worse. That's why it's a marathon and not a sprint, because everyone is constantly shifting positions, over a long period of time and NPD is like some photographer taking a random photo, in the middle of the race and then someone presenting it as a headline of the results.

My problem is in the way the numbers are presented, not the numbers themselves. I think we should get quartely or even 6 month reports. Take the extreme example, Weekly Japanese sales, they only become relevant when Famitsu totals everything up every half year. Imagine if NPD were presented every week. The way gaming forumers focus on NPD is sad, I feel like a monkey waiting to be fed. And all the media is waiting for, is a juicy -sometimes misleading- headline to plaster all over their site.

Nintendo World Report review

"This game kind of feels like pants, but super-awesome comfortable pants that massage your body while you wear them."

"Kirby's Epic Yarn is one of the prettiest games on Wii, and it's also one of the best. The joyous platformer might not be difficult, but it's fun, inventive, and outrageously imaginative. If you like things that are fun and are cool with playing a game that has a world called Treat Land, then you should run out and buy Kirby's Epic Yarn right now. It's been a long time since Kirby was last seen on a home console, but it was well worth the wait."

For years Sony has built motion-control sensors into its Sixaxis and Dual Shock 3 controllers, but it wasn't until the launch of the Move on 17 September 2010 that Sony finally committed to a complete motion-control system. Combined with the PlayStation Eye camera, the new Move wands and navigation controllers give Sony an opportunity to break into the market thus far dominated by the Wii.

At least, that's the theory. After all, Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities calls the new PlayStation Move system and Microsoft's Kinect the manifestation of the Wii HD concept he's favored for years.

Regrettably, there will be a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the PlayStation Move controllers because they are classified as an accessory by the NPD Group. As a general rule, public accessories data from the NPD Group is limited to rankings only with no unit sales under any circumstances.

Moreover, according to Pachter the Move (and Kinect) systems will be reported by the NPD Group as hardware (when bundled with a console) or as accessory (when sold standalone or with a software bundle).

By our reading, this means that – unlike Nintendo's Wii Play (bundled with a Wii remote) and Wii Sports Resort (bundled with the Motion Plus accessory) – sales of software/controller bundles will give no insight into sales of Sony and Microsoft's motion-control systems. They will appear exclusively in the accessory segment, and thereby be even more obscure because sales numbers will never be publicly reported by the NPD Group itself

The article goes on to estimate Move sales in the US, but what I more find interesting is that Move and Kinect are classed as accesories and therefore only appear ranked with no sales figures given.

Level-5's announced a 3DS Professor Layton Phoenix Wright crossover game.

It's called Professor VS Gyakuten saiban, and is a joint effort by Level-5 and Capcom, according to 1UP.

At a press conference in Tokyo the Japanese developer showed anime cut scenes. It's described as a combination of puzzles and crime mystery.

Shu Takumi, the main developer of the core Ace Attorney series, is in charge of writing the game's scenario. He used the key word "Majo Saiban" or "Witch Trial" in English, while on stage.

Level-5's president Akihiro Hino described the crossover as like two TV shows getting together and making a movie.

A somewhat shakey snap of an image of the game taken from Level-5's conference is below. Yes, we know. Bonkers.

Layton and Phoenix???? HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!   HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the greatest news I have ever heard. Seriously, they have taken my two favorite new franchises and are combining them into one game? Freaking brilliant.  I can see exactly how it would work too.  Layton's puzzles would just need to be more relevant to the situation and that would lead to finding evidence that Phoenix uses in court. Brilliant.

Just wondering what you guys think about it.

Oh yeah I'm definitely interested in Fallout: New Vegas. I'll be picking it up sometime next week along with Vanquish.

I'm surprised how many comments I've seen (here and the Eurogamer board) of people who've played one series but not the other.  Seems to me with the critical thinking involved in both games that there'd be a natural appeal to fans of either series to try the other.

personally i'm a considerably bigger fan of the layton games (in fact i'm sad to admit i only played the first phoenix wright).  not sure what the reason is it just doesn't have as big a draw to me as the layton games of which i don't just love the gameplay but also the whole look/art-style/character as it reminds me of old eastern european cartoons, or tintin or the triplets of belleville etc

It appeals to me, I've just never played them. I actually own the second Phoenix Wright game, but I've never played it because I have yet to get the first.

I think for me, Prof Layton has outwardly appeared (perhaps wrongly) as a puzzle game primarily. I like some adventure or graphic adventure type stuff as the focus. I dont want to get endlessly stuck on a puzzle either. I don't want to have to use faqs because I'm a useless idiot.

I'm not sure I like Facebook anymore. I just posted about the Layton/Phoenix cross-over game.  Immediately afterwards I was told that I was a small asian girl.

I will say Professor Layton and the Unwound Future is discrimnatory against Americans. There are math problems that involve the metric system.... fuck.
