Few more Broken Sword Impressions for Foolz.
Once you are past the new beggining, you start noticing little differences.
Firstly the audio does take a hit on the non-new sections. It's never as bad as some reviews have suggested, it's slightly muffled. But you rarely struggle to understand what they are saying and the text is always on screen anyway. So its really no problem. The game itself, visually the art is rich and clear, no transfer problems here.
They haven't followed through on the animatics I described earlier. On the original game you have static close up facials when they talk, barely animated, not like the first hour of the game.
Otherwise, there are some cool new puzzles, that are quite difficulty in places. I have to reiterate, the built in hint system is indispensible and should be instituted not just in all graphic adventures but in all games where you can get stuck and not understand why.
This puzzle pissing you off? Here's a hint. Still don't get it? Another one. Can't be bothered, well here it is laid out. Still can't do it, skip it. Genius.
It lets you try all you want to and give up when you want it. It eliminates uncessary frustration and searching for solutions online and its completely optional.
Love this game, its even got me Jones-ing for Fate of Atlantis on this Staff of Kings game. In fact I may buy the Broken Sword trilogy on PC now. Then the xbox sequel.
Some budget publisher needs to come along and start doing cheap Wii bundles because the games work SO well lazily on your sofa and with a TV screen.
Fuck the vaccin, better call Hard Gay
it's just one of the great touches in that wonderful game

Quoted for Doctor Stalin
Oh man, that's awful. I haven't seen the video because it's blocked at work, but even reading about it gives me the creeps. Hope no more people dies.
You read it here, from me!
Stalin means the Steel one. There you have it, your next sig/avatar combo!
I am. Although the fact that it turned out to be a beat em up like God of War turned me off a bit.
Woo hoo! I picked up another Wii game today, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. The last time I spotted a copy of it was about a month ago going for $50 but I spotted a lone copy of the game priced at $30 so I figured that was good enough and grabbed it. I'll probably try a bit of it tonight but will mainly get really into this weekend.
It's not just the puzzles, its stupid obtuse graphic adventure stuff. You know how you are suppossed to work out the developers logic and do things in the order they want you to? So if you arse around and there is a stupid solution like: oh I'm suppossed to talk to this guy and THEN ask about the.... yeah.
Stupid stuff like that minor annoyances are addressed so you never get stuck for hours because you didn't click a pixel or initiate a certain piece of dialogue. The system knows exactly where you are and what should be done next if you get stuck.
Hope you enjoy it and get House of the Dead next. Try dual wiedling.
Interesting. I actually saw RE:UC for $25 at Blockbuster this afternoon and debated whether or not to pick it up. Guess the game is finally coming down in price.
it's been going for around half price or less for a good few months now on european websites. on the subject of purchasing decisions this is precisely the kind of game to interest me once it reaches the impulse buy price point

Yeah I may get House of the Dead sometime down the road then again I may not. I mainly got RE: UC because I'm really big on the RE franchise so it's lore is a huge draw for me. Unfortunately I can't dual wield because I only have one controller.
EDIT: More then likely I'll be getting The Darkside Chronicles before I get HotD.
A Wii with only one controller? For the social console? Do you live in the mountains hermit man?
Damnit, Darkside wont be out till November and by then Overkill will be cheap as chips.
So Nintendo has partnered with a japanese company to produce exclusive content. Sort of like a channel streamed online to your wii. You enter a virtual room with miis and stuff and then watch the TV like watching TV. Like when you watch clips on the Nintendo channel I guess, only proper TV shows.
BTW I posted more Red Steel 2 pics.
BIOSHOCK! Would you kindly? Mind blown.
Yes! I loved the ending. Did you choose the good or evil ending?
