To be just like me, but you just can't see, "you ain't got the balls, son".

That's like the first thing that came to mind while reading your post, man.

Awesome. One of the best songs this world will ever produce.

Not surprising to see that the possibility of a not as advanced PS4 rumoured. I fully expect both Sony and Microsoft to take a less technically advanced route for the next generation of consoles. I think Nintendo might beef up the Wii 2 a little more then simply being 2 Wii's taped together now that the Wii is a proven product. I'm thinking that next gen the 3 consoles will likely be on more equal terms in power.

Ninty are masters of model release timing.  Even when it seems premature (like the DS launch when the GBA was still young) they still execute them perfectly.

I really don't see Sony breaking up their "ten year" (or close to it) philosophy.  Look at the recalcitrance demonstrated on the PSP front.  We are on the third remake of the PSP and they refuse to make any major changes to the hardware.

I think you're being much too generous to the DS launch.  We all acknowledge the success of the DS, but that started with Nintendogs and Brain Training, and no sooner.

As for the Sony PS4 stuff, not surprised at all. They're looking at how successful Nintendo has been re-using old tech and doing the same thing. But at least the PS3 is enough of a powerhouse that it won't suck so bad having old tech. I expect MS to do the same thing.....we're going to have MUCH cheaper consoles next-gen, it might even get back to consoles being an impulse buy on day 1 kind of

How so? In a few years down the track there's not realy any difference between a smaller increase of power than there was five years ago. It's not like the PS3 is two generations ahead.

Because the PS3 is at least fully HD, with digital sound and blu-ray. Tech also isn't going to advance THAT far ahead of the PS3 to make it matter anytime soon.

Wanna fight?

C'mon, people would've---in fact have---said the same thing about the PS2, or the PS, or the N64 etc. Nyaa

That depends on how homo-erotic it would be. If Leo can be my tag partner then I'm up for it.

I hear what you are saying -- that the DS had an empty cupboard at launch -- but getting the machine out of the gates and in doing so, making a public statement that -- hey guys the GBA ain't where it's at -- took BIG BALLS.

Now that I think about it, maybe Sony forced their hand with the release of the PSP.  So... I'm wrong, I did give Ninty too much credit.

This is just staggering.  Iwata says they'll see a point of 152.2 million DS's (according to story on the big board.

No wonder Rockstar wants onto that platform.  That's some install base.

how's everyone been?  aspro good to see you here mate.  have had a busy last couple of weeks with little gaming and even less forum posting.

on games coming soon: really looking forward to madworld, little king's story and blastworks.  deadly creatures is not for me as i have a huge fear of snakes (the only scary bit in re4 was the first time i broke a crate open with the knife and a snake jumped me).

oh, there is a new piece of hardware in my life.  it's not as sexy as that telescope thing of Iga's (which i still don't understand) but i still love it ... behold my first semi-pro mixer

i'm getting a pair of new decks next month as well so watch this space.  i have to have something to mix with until  DJ Hero comes along

Okay someone who knows about Animal Crossing explain this.

The Stock market. So I played the DS game for something like 9-12 months everyday and I always invested hugely in turnips every sunday. My understanding was that as long as you checked everyday the share price, at least one day of the week would be higher than what you paid. And for my entire playing time this held true.

But now with City Folk for the second time everyday has been lower and I've been forced to sell at a loss. This morning I found out that the turnips I paid 90 bells for I had to sell at 30 bells this morning before they went off. I lost something like 200'000 bells. This is pissing me off.

This could really hurt MS though...since they rely much more heavily on PC to console software than Nintendo and Sony.

I never thought of that. Good point. It sort of has console exclusives that are shared with PC. Without that its library might not be able to easily differentiate itself from say the next PS.

Please, it has to release this year in the west....

I don't mean this in a bad way, but this game actually looks a lot like FF12 on the PS2....art-wise and technical graphics engine -wise. Not a bad thing, because that game is amazing looking for a PS2 game. I wonder if they are using the same engine?

I just hope the game is good, because I hated that fucking Gamecube game and BTW thanks for bringing back bad memories with those Cube pics. LOL

Those pics are a year and a half old so things may look better. I really want this game to release this year along with MH3. But as usual if it comes out in Japan the rest of us will have to wait a year for the translation or something stupid.

The new FFCC: Crystal Beares looks like a Zelda/Elebits lovechild. It looks nothing like the other FFCC games. Why the hell are they still calling it that?

Well, I guess its because the Crystal Chronicles games themselves took a departure from normal FF. This half goes back in that its single player, more traditional and yet goes forward a step with the real time battles. It's still FF and I think the only brand modern Nintendo only gamers know is Crystal Chronicles. My Life as a King is different to other Crystal Chronicles games too.

*raises eyebrows* With all this fuss about home console sales I forget that DS is usually always at the top of the pack.

LOL bugs, I'd love to lock you in a room to play Deadly Creatures.

There's a lot of changes in ACCF that pissed me off. That's why I stopped playing it a month ago.

"Your gaming PC is a work-in-progress. Just when you're happy with a quad-core, SLIed-up beast, Intel redo their entire CPU structure and enter the graphics card market.

This year we're going to see monitor prices plummet, a new version of Windows supporting a touch screen interface, and hard drive tech repurposed from USB drives. There's a whole new world of hardware on its way. Here's what you can expect from 2009. "

Conduit Kotaku hands on

the game looks great, sporting draw-distances, bump-mapping, lighting, shadowing and particle effects that wouldn’t look out of place on the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360.

All that graphical panache was in full force while I was playing through a portion of the aliens-invade-Washington, D.C. title earlier this week.

I found myself treading a crowded urban street as the mysterious Mr. Ford, who works for the equally shadowy Trust, effortlessly shooting insect-like enemy "Drudge" and blowing up vehicles, all while taking in the pretty visual presentation.

Most impressive, especially for the Wii, were the explosions, which filled the screen in fiery detail on more than one occasion. But even tiny touches, like the realistic glare off the front of a newspaper vending machine, stand-out on the Wii. Also, the cool reload animations—an important part of any shooter—had me restocking my arsenal just to check it out again and again.

Just as impressive as the art direction, were the solid controls; I haven’t felt this comfortable pointing the remote like a gun since strapping on Samus’ arm canon in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Character movement with the nunchuck also felt fluid, aiming was spot-on, and even the camera managed to keep up with the quick-paced action.

It will likely still feel awkward to the mouse-and-keyboard crowd and gamepad jockeys—this isn’t the end-all, be-all control scheme for shooters—but The Conduit has definitely hit the sweet spot for shooter gaming on the Wii.

If you don’t like the default controls, you can always customize to your alien-thwarting heart’s content.

One of the title’s more innovative features is its almost stubborn insistence on meeting every single player’s style and preference in terms of personalizing the controls.

You can map pretty much whatever action you want wherever you like; not just the obvious stuff like moving and firing, either, but even things like what motion you prefer to use when tossing grenades can be tuned.

This feature also extends to the HUD elements, which can be placed anywhere on the screen, and options such as look sensitivity and turning speed. Best of all, you needn’t kick out to the main menu to tweak—it can all be done in-game.

The Conduit’s bar-raising visuals, tight gameplay, conspiracy-riddled alien invasion yarn, and gamer-loving customization options make it a real stand-out on the Wii’s 2009 line-up.

First Eidos start fucking with Crystal because TR Underworld ONLY sold 1 and a half million, and now they have these new shrucks making Deus Ex....and removing the elements that made the game special to turn it into yet another First-person Shooter.

Eidos seriously need to die.

Nintendo selling Pikmin on Wii for $30= FAIL.

The game is 8 years old guys. Widescreen and new controls don't add that much. I can get the Cube game for $5. It should be $20 MAX on Wii.
