Prince of Persia Eurogamer review:
The crushing thing about Prince of Persia, however, isn't this. It's that we're faced with yet another poor game planted in a bed of fantastic technology and interesting mechanics, which, rather than empowering the player to solve interesting problems in new and exciting ways, merely sends you for a long and elaborate stroll through a beautiful world devoid of challenge or variation, and marred by excessive repetition.
So...... they turned it into Soni.... ah, it's too easy
Recently, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told Forbes, "I will be able to say our licensees 'get it' [Wii development] when their very best content is on our platform. And with very few exceptions today, that's not the case." Do you take issue with that statement, or do you think he's correct?
RS: I don't take much issue with that statement. I don't think he's correct in all areas, even though I understand where he's trying to get to with that comment. But really when we focus back on NASCAR Kart Racing, we're really trying to appeal to the Wii consumer and the Wii demographic. It's not just a port of our simulation game, a "NASCAR 09-and-a-half." We basically started from the ground up and designed something specifically for Wii.
When I look at his comment, I think it comes from the fact that a lot of people are just pretty much porting their existing games over to Wii, and then dealing with the Wii Remotes in some shape or form. We definitely did not take that approach.
SI: The Wii Remote is nothing like anything else before. Our game is for the motion sensor. You're steering the car by steering the Wii Remote left and right. It's very intuitive. Your mom's not going to come over to play a NASCAR sim game, but she can play NASCAR Kart Racing.
You know if this game would have been released on the Wii, people would say that it is Nintendo's fault why the game is so dumbed down. They would cry that the casual gamers has ruined another hardcore franchise. The truth is that the dumbing down of games tooked place since the NES era, games are a lot easier than they were before!
Trauma Centre: New Blood is your friend GG. I know you love the series. Also the DS is your even better friend, with the triumph that is Order of Ecclesia, and Fire Emblem just around the corner.

They will still say it's Nintendo's fault for having begun the dumbing down and getting filhty rich for it so now everybody's trying to do that. for every bad game released, for every child crying, for every murdered puppy ... Nintendo is to blame

If it had been on Wii reviewers would all infer that it was a result of Wii's casual audience etc. I personally like games with intuitive control schemes that don't sacrifice complexity, but just make a game natural to play and explain things well without becoming annoying. Prince of Persia has never really been a true platform game in my eyes, you are mainly rigidly working your way through an apparatus, like an acrobat in a circus. You follow the exact structure set by the designers, it's almost like a QTE sequence that isn't neccessarily timed exactly. I like the games but truth be told after buying the whole trilogy I didn't want a 4th. Not to say that I was willing this game to not work out, but it's almost a sigh of relief from the old bank account.
I saw it in Woolworthes in their half price sale but the store was clogged to hell and when 360 games are being discounted so heavily, I don't really feel like getting a game that's been delayed for a year and full price and I hear, hard as hell. So... I caved and bought Animal Crossing Wii at a supermarket. I felt sick inside, I was cursing myself on the way home and nintendo, I felt like I was being ripped off. Then I got it home and played for 3 hours straight. It's great Animal Crossing goodness. I feel like I'm properly home like Samwise says at the end of LOTR
I will probably update with impressions in Ravens thread eventually. Need more people to get it so we can exchange codes.
These guys are releasing Another Code on Wii in Febuary in Japan and Little Kings Story. I do really like adventure games and think that they suit the DS to a T. I'm also looking forward to buying this Broken Sword DS game too.
The rich presentation fills out its role in the game just fine, but the core mechanics simply can't back it up. Visually intriguing environments break down to straightforward platforming and switch-flipping puzzles; inspired design rears its head every now and then, but -- by and large -- Mushroom Men's stages are anything but progressive, falling right alongside a forgotten swath of PS1 platformers. Brief, out-of-place minigames attempt to spice things up every so often, but their shoddiness does little to impress.
If Mushroom Men did any sort of justice to its artistry and ambitions, we'd have something special to talk about. Instead, we're left with a somewhat archaic, unpolished platformer belied by a novel premise and seemingly interesting world to explore. I enjoyed it enough as an introduction to a very cool, deliberate aesthetic, but it's tough not to desire a Mushroom Men game that executes its ideas more skillfully -- never mind one that takes more than five hours to finish
Seems like a great LOOKING game that has average design
Shaun White 1up Wii review: A
Although they share Shaun White's visage and a snowboarding theme, not much else ties Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip to its PS3/Xbox 360 counterpart -- and that's a good thing. While the more powerful console version looks arguably better, obtuse controls and a misleading map make exploring it feel like an uphill trek. For now, the underpowered Wii provides the best Shaun White experience.
Shaun White will probably draw comparisons to the Wii's other snow-topped mountain experience, We Ski, but Road Trip throws out that title's kiddy aesthetic for a cool anime look with a great licensed soundtrack. The game does so many things right, it's almost hard to believe that the same company developed both this and its PS3/360 counterpart. I only hope that more companies will put the same time and attention into making their Wii ports such excellent (and in this case superior) standalone experiences.
The only reason I would pick this up would be if I had a balance board, I don't know if anyone else remembers the crazy arcade games which had actual skis or surfboards or snowboards, or motorcycles... but those were fun to play. But I aint paying crapola for a balance board. Although there was this one funny suggestion that Madworld could use it to do a headstomp AAA game guaranteed if they did that.

Wow, I knew the game wasn't going to be good, but I certainly didn't think the 360 version would be worse than the Wii version!
