I think you've misinterpreted that.  There was initially a 68% yield rate from production (68% of units off the line didn't work at all).  Not that that's any better given the initial failure rate was technically 100%.

"It turned out in the end that this was all going too far, too fast," said one source quoted by Takahashi. "They were adding too many features after things were locked down. That incremental feature adding just made it fragile."

Microsoft also took ownership of the ATI and IBM chip designs at the heart of the console. "However," Takahashi pointed out, "this was a mistake: it was now responsible for failures related to the chip." Yeah - oops.

The result of all the failures was, initially, a "bone pile" in a warehouse at manufacturer Wistron and a repair centre in Texas of over 500,000 consoles that either didn't work to begin with or broke quickly. All the while we were being told failures were within "normal rates for consumer electronics products".

Later, between January and June 2007, Microsoft even shut down manufacturing, according to Takahashi, in order to investigate.

Yet for all this, Takahashi reported that Robbie Bach told fellow diners at some sort of technology banquet in July that gamers have largely forgiven the company for the defectives 360s.

For Microsoft's part, it said: "This new story repeats old information, and contains rumors and innuendo from anonymous sources, attempting to create a new sensational angle, and is highly irresponsible."

LMAO.....I have 3 consoles in that "bone pile". Needless to say, I won't be buying Microsoft's next console anywhere NEAR launch...if at all. I've nearly completely switched over to PS3 at this point actually, now that multi-platform games have improved. Other than exclusives.

Huzzah, watched the episode set in france, learning about Haji. Interesting. One thing that I found funny/annoying was that at the end of one episode there was this cliffhanger scene. Then in the beggining of the next episode they did a mini recap of the last scene...

And the translation was different!

Maybe that's why the PS3 is outselling the 360 now, they've fixed the problem.

I can't control the input characters (ok, well, if I wanted).  Anything that isn't posted as Western European / Latin characters will display unusually if your personal settings aren't for UTF-8, just like Kanji characters won't display if you don't have East Asian character sets installed.

To change your encoding settings, choose View (or in newer versions Page) and Encoding from the menu.  Then choose UTF-8 or Unicode.

I think the IE8 BETA 2 automatically detects the character set, but I'm not sure.

You see, I'm stupid enough to not know what any of that means. I just started a CSS course, though my tutor is self taught. Doing ordered lists and block quotes and crap at the moment.
