I'm pretty smitten with the surface pro to be honnest. The form factor, how it oozes build quality, the pen,... My concerns are the fact that ti's win8, doesn't have a cellulair antennae and that it is rather expensive. Also don't know how much use I'll get from the pen as that's solely dependent in the quality and array of software available
This thing is awesome held vertically for reading websites with long scrolling pages. And it will be awesome for digital comic book readers.
This digital comic comes free with the game:
Any thoughts on Kamiya's feelings about becoming a 2nd party dev for Nintendo consoles? Personally I think it would make for a good match. Platinum makes quality games with critical acclaim, but which fail to sell to the masses. Pairing up with Nintendo would effectively mean they could stop caring about how their games sell altogether, and just continue the good work. Nintendo would gain quality exclusives to fill the gaping wholes in their own release schedual.
I'm not saying it'd be a good thing for all gamers, I'm just saying it'd be benificiary for both Platinum and Nintendo.
I think it would be good. Nintendo would want them to work on some of the classic Nintendo franchises, but that might not necessarily be a bad thing. Platinum is the kind of developer that could breathe new life into an old franchise. And after Okami I think it's safe to say they could handle a franchise like Zelda. . . just so long as they try not to make another 40 hour game.
It would be good for gamers because they'd have someone to commission Platinum games and they'd get at least a handful of unique and quality games to enjoy.
It would be good for Platinum because they couldn't self-publish and other publishers would only green-light projects they thought would be profitable for them. It would also be good for Platinum because potential involvement in the projects from Nintendo could maybe help them reach new levels of greatness.
It would be good for Nintendo if it helped them widen the Wii U library a little bit. They haven't got enough teams to keep up with what's expected of a full release schedule.
It wouldn't be so good for Nintendo if they're looking for the games to be profitable. It's a dead given that they won't get any million-sellers but most Platinum games on a Nintendo console may not even break even. So Nintendo would have to accept funding the games for the good of humanity and not for their reputation alone, if not their bottom line.
Personally I always thought developpers like Clover, Platinum, Level-5, Treasure, Q? etc should team up with Nintendo.

Bugs are you back for good?
Totally agree.
For various reasons I was re-listening to the news section of the game under podcast, episode 9. I cannot believe the Xbox One first conference (the TV one).
I know they have reversed and nullified all their original policies, and that is good, but when you go back and listen (or read) the original list of limitations, it's just amazing on a level that is unprecedented in consumer electronics. It;s up there with having to remove the battery to change games on the original N-Gage.
Things that suck today:
Things that are okay:
Things that are great:
My hip is very pleased to hear that. No first impressions! Hurrah.
I mean, my condolences.
Hip Hip Hooray.
Reggie:
My first was response was, "does anyone actually believe that Reggie played Chrono Trigger back in the day". Then I realized, I know nothing about Reggie, other than he aproved the BigFoot Pizza marketing campaign at Dominos. And I think he also takes credit for Pop-Up Videos on VH1.
So I looked him up. He's 52. Earhbound was relesed in 1995. Which means... he was 34 when Earthbound was released for the SNES. So my instinct is right. Not buying it.
Rob Fahey from Gamesindustry.biz is probably the only writer on the site I love reading articles from:
"After years of promoting the wonders of the 3D display on the 3DS, Nintendo has stripped it out entirely - a move that's unsurprisingly attracted its fair share of derision. That derision mostly takes the form of "I-told-you-so" smugness from people who have spent years arguing that the 3D tech in the handheld range was a gimmick. Granted, nobody should waste much time listening to the kind of blowhard who thinks that his incredibly cutting and insightful observation that a 3D display in a gaming handheld might be a "gimmick" makes him into some kind of crystal-ball-gazing mystic seer, and Nintendo is unlikely to lose much sleep over the opprobrium of such people. Of course it's a gimmick; the purpose of the 3D display is to make games look nicer and a bit more unique, not to feed the hungry or heal the sick."
So now he's smarter than the people who called it a gimmick because it was a gimmick, because he gets to be the guy that says, "well duh it was never meant to be more than a gimmick"?
Damned straight.
I thought the same. Reggie has never struck me as a guy who was much of a game player at all. I'm sure he's READ about more games than he's actually played. He's like a politician...just a mouthpiece that has a way with words that can convince the average moron that he knows what he's talking about, even if he has little experience with the subject.
Yeah I think it would be great for ANY quality developers who hook up with Nintendo as a 2nd party...I've been saying that for years now. Nintendo is much better off relying on 1st and 2nd party teams with the odd AAA 3rd-party exclusive in there, than they are relying solely on 3rd-parties. They can't play the game the way Sony and Microsoft do. Nintendo's strength is development, and working closely with select studios.
I think there's a lot of guys at Platinum who have wanted a closer relationship with Nintendo for years...dating back to when they were at Capcom. I've always felt that is what led to the Resident Evil Gamecube era, among other things.
Definitely made the right choice with this hybrid, so much freedom, huge battery, I can easily snap in our out of the dock. Viewing comics/webpages and portrait photos is awesome when you flip the screen. Bluetoothing audio to a wireless speaker right now. Only downside is the HDD which is 65gb but half is already taken up by Windows. You can add micro sd cards though.
The Wacom stlylus is only good for apps though, sometimes I try to use it as a mouse in desktop m ouse and it's only fairly useful and a bit limited. Its great for taking handwritten notes though. It has this hover mode where it can sense the stylus without it even touching the screen. I need to google some more app uses for this.
How is the connection to the dock? I've seen a similar set-up in a Toshiba hybrid with specs on par with those of the Surface pro, but it looks so easy to just break the clamp that's holding the tablet.
For me, I'd love this kind of device, albeit with surface pro level specs, as I could use it as a desktop replacement when used with an external screen, keyboard and mouse for stuff like autocad or photoshop, and then just take it with me for quick sketching on the go. Unless of course, the wacom integration isn't very good, in which case not only the whole package would become less attractive, but I could easily settle for a model without pen digitizer and save me €100-200.
