Just saw the Rayman Legends trailer, WOW!!!! The new graphics engine is amazing. It finally has online co-op, mini games and the Wii U integration looks fantastic. The DLC action figures eh... but Ezio is pretty damn cool.
Look out for The GS Press Room podcast.
Look forward to listening to the new podcast when I get home in the afternoon after "working the land" with my dad

Ok guys the first part of voting for the movie theme song tourney is up. It takes like a minute to vote.
But I think it would have worked out fine if Yamauchi didn't go all senile and back out of the deal and make Sony look bad in the process. Sony was a juggernaut at that time as a company...not smart to piss in their coffee. If they went through with it then the Playstation as a console would have never existed...at worst for Nintendo it would have been a failed add-on for the Snes. At best for them it would have did really well and gave the Snes a bit more life. And it probably would have led to the N64 having a disc drive and completely obliterating the Saturn and probably not having much competition until the Dreamcast or Xbox....if Microsoft would have even gotten into gaming at all without Sony showing them how.
This is true. And you throw the PC into the mix and you have 3 machines that play many of the same games. Now the new Nintendo will also be getting quite a few of the same games. Though I wouldn't blatantly call for Sony to be the one out, it could just as well be Microsoft. And personally, I don't much like the direction MS has been going lately either. Their strategy has completely changed over the last few years compared to 2000-2010.
I'm leaning that way lately myself for the reason I just said.
You gave me a hard on.
No motherfucker....its day 1 good. Go fuck yourself if you feel otherwise. Fucking jerk.
I was asking before but no one answered. Is that what the graphics are like in Origins? I haven't seen too much of it. Off memory it seems better, more alive and colourful?
On the issue of hardware makers dropping out, I think it would be highly regrettable for any of the big 3 to die, I think choice is always good.
But, Apple joining the gaming market might piss me off.
I wanted to vote but had no time. Whatever

Project CARS Wii U
Remember wsippel the confirmed Wii U developer on GAF?
He recently said:
"Looks like the Wii U CPU is designed for clock speeds ranging from 1 to 4GHz. Doesn't necessarily mean that it'll actually run at 4GHz, of course."
"Yeah, seems strange. Maybe their sources are smaller/ less important studios and really won't get the newer pads for a while. The latest pad (product id DK-DEV-V5) is wireless. Also looks like Nintendo uses Ni-Fi for the controller now (2.4 or 5GHz), so range shouldn't be limited to a single room - possibly not even just a single floor. "Ni-Fi" is just what the homebrew community calls Nintendos proprietary wireless protocol. Nintendo uses standard 802.11b/g WLAN adapters, but for communication between Nintendo devices, they use a custom transport protocol. That custom protocol requires special firmware on the WLAN adapters, which is why there are no tunnels like Xlink for Nintendo handhelds (someone was working on something years ago, and even got somewhere, but it required a specific WLAN adapter and was never finished). Ni-Fi has a lower latency compared to standard WLAN protocols, which makes it ideal for local multiplayer - or the Wii U pad. I'm saying is that the tech Nintendo uses shouldn't limit the transmission to a single room. But it's impossible to say for sure and depends on a number of factors. I guess it might work for some people but not for others.
Audio DSPs typically have a fixed number of output channels, and the Wii U DSP supposedly supports eight channels: Six channels over HDMI, one stereo pair for a single pad. In a similar fashion, a dedicated video encoder is limited to a number of streams. Supporting four pads would require four encoders. Three of which would do fuck all most of the time. Waste of silicon and money."
So the wireless can work upstairs? That would be killer for me. Go upstairs, play Wii U in bed, turn it off wirelessly whilst still in bed. Joy.
Even my wi fi I have to get up and go downstairs to turn the box off.
Hey all,
Remember Craig Harris that worked for IGN? Well he works for SEGA now and is involved with Aliens: Colonial Marines and just had this to say about the Wii U...
“Nintendo… has to release hardware that’s of the expectations of the gamer today.” Craig also mentions, “… I don’t think we would be bringing the game to a system that would be inferior to current gen. (HD) systems.”
He has a lot of suggestive comments throughout the podcast, including talking about streaming 60 FPS to the Wii U pad towards the end... which to me suggests Aliens: Colonial Marines could be running at 60FPS on Wii U

The quote comes in around the 41 mintute mark, but the whole Nintendo conversation is pretty good.
And do you remember the Pale Gale Network who had the story about Wii U metroid or something and other Wii games he had confirmed? He's updated it now.
Originally Posted by Paul Gale: Before 2011 was done once and for all, I gave one final hint for the new year, by stating that there was a very big title in development for both Wii U and 3DS, that it was a shocker, a crowd pleaser, and that I would try and reveal it in January. The truth is (as I stated in that article), there were a few surprise titles I knew about, but this one I felt was the biggest…as it’d be crossing both platforms.
I was under the impression on New Year’s Eve that there were at least two different pairs of games and that both would appear on each of Nintendo’s systems. It’s the reason for the hint, “crowd pleaser”, because one of the games I was referring to was Assassin’s Creed III (which later was confirmed to be a Wii U title after all). Not being able to confirm whether a 3DS build was in fact a part of Ubisoft’s plan as well, I chose not to launch the story before anyone else, but still reported on it.
The other game and in fact, arguably the more important one for many, is real and has been confirmed to me. There is a Wii U title in mind and a 3DS one. It’s been a long time coming in validating this story, but I’ve finally done it. I won’t give a target month of when I’ll share it like I did last time, because of an NDA. I’m sorry for giving you nothing, but this isn’t just a leak from a source…the same reason for not even a hint. I owed you this much though, for whatever it’s worth. Good times are coming. Just know that.
I'm loving what I'm seeing the past day, Wii IR lives on, wireless improved, great graphics, NFC could be neat if it means collectables. Plus from what I'm reading NFC means wii U could have the safest, easiest way of paying for online goods - you literally just move your credit card (with chip in it) near the controller and it buzzes the details. No filling out forms, passwords and only someone who physically holds the card can use it.
Yesterday:
WTF? Wii U controller now has IR control?
Today:
Really, That's Just a Sticker on the Wii U Controller
Yesterday's leaked Rayman Legends trailer raced around the internet, wowing us with its demonstration of Wii U's near field communication technology and much more.
Naturally the trailer was picked apart, with readers and some sites (like GameXplain, for instance) noticing a strange black square on the Wii U controller's underside:
Is it a new feature? An infra-red camera perhaps?
The truth is nothing so exciting. Our sources in the development community have told us it's just a sticker, covering up a port used to update the controller's system software while the machine is still in development. Final retail controllers won't have the port nor, therefore, the sticker.
Also don't get too excited about the cable: we're told it's a coaxial cable connecting development hardware to the controller and that the final controller will, of course, be wireless.
So there you go — you can take your tinfoil hats off now.
PS All-stars looks soooo lame.
Sorry, I can't help it. Sony should have ripped off Power Stone 2; at least that would have been more interesting with 3D arenas.
BTW, where's Power Stone 3, Capcom?
Former Clover/Capcom employees/Current Platinum Games devs may be giving you a game in the spirit of Power Stone:
That looks pretty cool, Leo. It's definitely not family friendly.
YOU ARE DEAD
That smash ps3 game looks exactly as shitty as its source of inspiration/ripoff. I'd say the translation was faithful.
