The Paladin does work out for you as the game progresses.  I remember feeling the same way. What format are you playing on?

I'm playing the DS version.  Now stuck where I have to fight the big cheese baddie for the first time at the dwarven castle right after the crazy dolls.  Really at a loss with this one.  His weakness seems to chance every turn and he absorbes all other attacks

It's the second port of the first game because the 1st port sucked. It has a boss arena mode which has some of the second games bosses in a steel cage arena.

Hey guys, is the HD version of RE4 going to be a port of the Wii version with Move controls on the PS3? That might make it worth checking out.
