I'm going to do one tomorrow after my first 24 hours. Overall it's a mixed bag so far. Still glad I picked it up though. After 3 years of Wii only, it was time for a second console.
Yeah, Robio. Congrats on the PS3. Now you can play Super SFIV and the upcoming Marvel VS Capcom 3! I know you wanted to play these, if I remember correctly.
Also, you can get Rune Factory on the PS3.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
Yep. Most of my time so far has been spent with SSFIV. Amazing how out of practice I am with it. There was a time I could cruise through a Street Fighter game with a blindfold on. This time around I was struggling after getting to the third oppenent. Finally I went back to Sagat (aka the old standby) and things were pretty easy again, though I still struggled through the final battles. And Seth just seems like a lame boss. Give me back Gill any day of the week.
Sweet, a new Soulcalibur game is in the works. Man Namco is busy with the fighters, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Street Fighter vs. Tekken, and now Soulcalibur.
I thought The Last Story was already scheduled to be released outside of Japan. I hope they do because it does look quite good.
Holy shit. RDR is already my personal Game of the Year.
Yay!
Does that include the third one?
I had NO IDEA!
Check out what Amazon states on their Product Page for Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom:
"Legendary developer talent: Directed by Yoshiki Okamoto,
whose previous works - Resident Evil and Street Fighter II series
have reached critical acclaim and sold millions"
Speaking of Majin, I will probably finish it tomorrow!
Nope. Only the first two. I mean, the new versions.
Ah k thanks. I think the special editions also have the original versions btw. From what I've seen of the special editions i prefer the originals.
Leo thanks for the Majin heads up.
No problem. I absolutely recommend picking it up for that price! I should be a pretty good source for a recommendation too, I just finished the game 2 minutes ago!
That's an amazing deal on Majin! Great deal! And Enslaved, too!
Also, finally checked out FFCC Crystal Bearers. What a weird game. It really isn't that bad...right now, it's not. It may get weirder later. But the graphics are impressive. It looks very good on the Wii even though everything is in real-time.
But those character designs are awful! I know Square-Enix was trying to make Final Fantasy look "hip" but it doesn't fit right.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
I was going to get the PS3 version, but like you said in the subtitle it was still close to full-price.
Anyway it's close enough, if not already Sunday in North America, so it;s time for What have you been playing.
Played:
Afro Samurai, Little King's Story, Sword of Hope 2, Henry Hatsworth.
Beaten:
Nothing this week.
Now Playing:
Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES), Afro Samurai (started today should be done either tonight or tomorrow), Little King's Story (I have four kings left to defeat, game is dragging now that I'm around the 16+ hour mark), Sword of Hope 2 (I think I am half way through).
I have to say, Afro Samurai is the most visually stunning game I've played this generation. Good voice acting (Perlman and Samuel L. Jackson), great music (Supervised by The RZA) and fun game play. Camera is self-serve which is displeasing, but other than that an enjoyable experience (playing on PS3).
Yoda, there is a blog on GS about religion and atheism.
I already put my toughts and comments in the comments section. I think I already covered all of it pretty well, but if you have anything to add. Go for it!
Enlisting one of your fellow evangelists to help spread the word to the non-non-believers.
I tried playing Afro Samurai earlier in the year, also on PS3. Like you I loved the visual style, the music etc. Every so often though I would just get lost and not know where to go next. I expect this to happen in an RPG or some kind of free-roaming game. When it happens so much in a very linear action adventure ... then something is wrong. I gave up on the game after about two bosses. It just wasn't worth the frustration. It's a shame really as I liked many things about it.
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
Well said buddy. I find it laughable when people tell me that as an atheist I subscribe to a particular set of beliefs and hence I have in a sense a religion. No, no, no, I just don't believe. Why is that so hard to deal with without trying to bring one down to their level. I don't particularly relate to guys like Dawkins or other polemic Atheists either as the idea of god they wage war against is just juvenile and ridiculous, and in effect it makes them look pretty silly as well.
On the other issue, on whether people do good or evil because or despite religion, I like to use Steven Weinberg's quote "With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
Politics work just as well, there's no reason to blame religion as a concept like some do to feel better about being atheists, knowing better than others, or whatever else. It all comes down to simple abuse and exploit of beliefs and people. Whether those people have faith in invisible beings, the capabilities of fellow men, or both, makes little difference. I'd probably fit under "agnostic", I have no way to know and I certainly don't just blindly trust what men have written to support or disprove the idea. Everyone has beliefs, morals, a sense of right and wrong, whether it stems from religion, from culture, from family, or anything else, and there will always be people who try to take advantage of that, with or without religion. Good people will do evil when used by not so good people.
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.
