I dunno, you're the one playing a lot of shitty ones and yet bigging up mediocrity like Blackwell.

The credits roll on Mass Effect :Andromeda.  Lol, you know your own credits are super long when you offer the option to speed them up.

I think I've beaten Toukiden: Kiwami. I've beaten the game's goal, at least the initial one. I got an ending. I think. There are more chapters, but they seem like post-game chapters. I don't know. What I do know is that there's not really enough challenge and variety for me to want to keep playing for hours and hours more. It wasn't bad, but it's definitely not as good as Monster Hunter. Battles lack the strategy and planning that the MH games have. You have a powerful team that fights aside you, and you can pretty much just button mash your way to victory unless you play like an idiot. I'm sure I'll get back to it at some point, but for now I'll take a few days off before going into the post-game content.

145 hours later, the credits roll on Nioh. Truly one of PS4's most enjoyable exclusive games!

8 Hours later, the credits roll on Vanquish. Not one of the most enjoyable games of the 360 era. LOL

It was good though...I liked it well enough. 7.8/10

Nigga these are the ones gassed up by hashtag real games journalists. The artsiest of the artists. And Blackwell was at least sort of neato, Rosa and Joey were rad, especially Rosa's aunt. Fucking Kathy Rain is just yuck.

I'm starting to question if Grim Fandango is like Half Life 2. Of course it's great, look at how shitty the rest of the genre is. My genre gave you Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta, your genre gave the world the worst form of gameplay that isn't loot games like Diablo. How do you sleep at night Towers?

Games gassed up by games journalists suck most of the time, though, so this seems to be a disaster of your own making.

I stopped at the emboldened bit. However let's pretend I didn't: Grim Fandango, and The Witness. WinkWink

The Witness is a puzzle game. It's Myst if like Myst was actual a video game of some kind, and not artsy fartsy bullshit. Where as the Witness is a video game, that just happens to be artsy fartsy bullshit at the same time.

And sure, but this goes back to your statement, playing these lesser games at least has value to in terms of learning something about the genre and the medium and blah blah blah blah. I know, we discussed it on Smugcast 1 when deep down we were thinking things like "wow, the Uncharted games are fucking terrible"

Kathy Rain and new age indie point n click games, they have their heart in the right place in that they don't just telltale that shit and go "fuck making a video game, we'll just make a story with walking bits", but we need to fix the part where point n click games had SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITastic puzzles. Except their solution, isn't really a solution. All they did was get rid of the shitty obtuse shit, by "what if we made this puzzle just a basic sequence of events that are linear and any idiot can follow along". Which sure ignores the brute forcing you have to do, but it ignores the basic concept that now at no point do I actually have to think, like at all. I just go do a thing, that is fairly straight forward, and never expanded upon.

If Myst, which from what I've played of The Witness has better puzzles than The Witness (but I didn't play it much), didn't exist, then The Witness wouldn't exist. It's basically dumbed down Myst with an even dumber story and concept.

I disagree that puzzle games had shit puzzles (or at least that this is a bad thing). There's an appeal to abstruse bullshit puzzle solving, as it requires all sorts of thought in the one game, or even the one puzzle. Puzzle games are good at making you feel good, by making their puzzles seem harder than they are and pacing them with positive reinforcement in mind. Adventure games don't even know what the word pacing means, and couldn't give a shit about making you feel good for solving a puzzle. This is not bad puzzle design, this is bad game design. I won't try and argue that adventure games are good games if good games are meant to jerk you off (which is what good games are meant to do), but bad puzzles? On the contrary, they contain actual puzzle solving. Puzzle games are school homework, where your researching is just so you can pass a glorified reading comprehension test. Retarded adventure game puzzles are when you're researching a subject to actually learn about it. The former has to pat you on the head to make you feel good about wasting your time, the latter is a convoluted clusterfuck that has moments of genuine reward to go along with its greater frustration, difficulty and lack of direction.*

True about value in playing crap, but the difference with Kathy Rains and Uncharted is that Uncharted is of significance, and Kathy Rains is not. The press is too far behind with niches to pick out niche games that matter.

*Of course, in the context of playing an adventure game, you then realise you were actually just wasting time playing a videogame but in that sense puzzle games are no better.

Yes they are indeed. I've been getting the urge to revisit these games lately.

Replaying Bayonetta 1 actively makes me think less of Bayonetta 2.

Also "beat" Bayonetta on normal, I stone trophied Jubileus like a scrub. Not even for a good reason, I whiffed on dodging the instakill move, didn't even have the decensy to die by taking a bunch of hits lol ;(

I played the two games back to back on the WiiU and found the original to be the better game.  Both are eclipsed by Wonderfull101 though.

You hear that Towers, Wonderful 101, fucking play it. Imagine how absurd the ending is to Bayonetta and how hype it is, The Wonderful 101 makes that shit look tame. It's so fucking good.

Also child pls, Myst is boredom fuel. That shit is was the harbinger of all bad things about video games.

Finally got around to playing DMC Devil May Cry...and shit didn't I hear a lot of whining about this game? It's the best game in the series since the original. Great stuff. I liked it more than Bayonetta 2.

Saw you playing this on Steam yesterday.  Wanted to ask you how you liked it.  Now I know.

It's on my 'to buy when it hits €5' list.  Which doesn't mean I'm not excited for the game, but it's as much as I'm willing to pay for any game on Steam.

DmC is the worst devil may cry game, it being better than DMC2 shouldn't even count, DMC2 doesn't exist.

The merits of Myst aside, are you really going to pretend The Witness would exist without it?

While I liked DmC, I thought that it was ok, it's my second least favourite Devil May Cry game with Devil May Cry 2 being my least favourite. It's a toss up between Devil May Cry 4 and 3 being my favourite with the original following close behind.
