Splinter Cell 1 HD Edition is done. Man, first time I've played through this game in a loooong time. Still pretty fun too, but it's lame as hell that they didn't imclude the fantastic downloadable missions that it had back in the day like Kola Cell. Will this be my last game of 2017? Oooooh the suspense is killing me.
Congrats Edge!!!! I did terrible this year but I now have a bunch of games ready to be beat for 2018 contest. I'm winning next year.

I didn't even try. What a hollow feeling victory.
I'm going to start the new thread because I just beat my first game of 2018....

Neat game, neat fighting engine. It could use more enemy variety, and I wish the grinding for moves wasn't there. But, using that fighting system against other people was neat as fuck.21. Beat Splatoon 2 - 7/10
The single player is still only aight, but the mp is good. The final boss for this game was a downgrade from the final boss in the first game. Which was the only good boss in that game. Everything else is "competent".22. Beat Cuphead - 8/10
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF my kind of game. Tight mechanics, well designed bosses that challenge the player, and all of its fair. There isn't one instance in the game where I feel like the player doesn't have an appropriate counter or option. The early bosses are pushovers, but you know the later ones aren't. The run n gun stages sans one platforming segment are average at best, and I'd probably say they are subpar. But the bosses are killer as fuck.
I beat 3 more games during the year. So I'm on to 2018 now.
23. Beat Horizon Zero Dawn - 6/10
The story is mega dumb, and the gameplay leaves so much to be desired. So many superfluous options, that limp stealth, the limited weapon wheel, and how mediocre most of the machine enemies would be one thing, but then added bonus it's not even all that original on the gameplay front. Foolz boys, at it again. Jabronis.
24. Beat Nier Automata - 7/10
It's my least favorite good Platinum game. The mechanics are there for a more open ended custom combo DMC styled approach, but the enemies are easily the worst in a good platinum game. People focus on how superficially similar they look, because mother fuckers is shallow, but I'm more annoyed by the lack of aggression and attack patterns. Even the bosses let me down. But I do like how fluid everything is and the story is surprisingly good. The shmup segments do a solid job breaking up the action, and the game juggling em helps the pacing. I want a proper bloody palace mode for this game tho so I can wreck face uninterrupted and tune the enemies a bit. Some of the true style vids I've seen for the game are lit.
25. Beat Super Mario Odyssey - 8/10
I wish I liked it as much as the Galaxy games, but it's really good otherwise. It's probably the best Mario has felt to move around, and cappy is a great addition thanks to cappy jumps. But there was no reason to nerf wall jumps, side flips in comparison to their 64/Sunshine counterparts. Also spin jumps are the worst in this game. Way too many filler moons, not enough platforming challenges. I appreciate that with Breath of the Wild and Odyssey Nintendo is thinking about their game in a more multi-threaded way accomodating both the non-gamer and seasoned players, but they still got some work to do. But the game is charming as fuck, mechanically it's nice to play a mario game with this much depth again, and the platforming challenges that are there are the shit. Plus those races are hot fire.
Either way 25 games beaten for me is pretty bad. But I'll wipe the floor with yah in 2018. Might as well lock this up n give it to Gagan bois
Man oh man I was kind of pathetic this year. Barely a dozen games. Too much Hearthstone and not enough actual gaming. Oh well, the most recent Hearthstone deck has rendered me useless and made everything a god damn uphill fight, so I think I'll be focusing on other things this year. At least until March when the new deck is released.
I gotta hurry up and beat a few more games this weekend to add onto my list. Looks like maybe a few HD editions is all I'll be able to do.
