Day One spring next year
not owning a 3DS, I'd even be tempted to pick up the bundle. But I presume that would leave me with a barebones digital copy of the game

Yes, that's what I hate about 3DS and WiiU bundles. They just come with game pre-installed. Not that I would have need for any more 3DSs mind you.
Can't wait for this game. A bit alarmed though by the reports that some did everything 100% in 18.5 hours. I expect far longer from Zelda games, even handheld ones. But (I know I know) it's not the size ...

I do not care what season it is. I have been eyeing the 3DS XL for some time now. I am waiting for a deal/price cut. Seeing that I was going to buy this game anyways, I might be tempted to buy this. Might!
I still want to see an xl with my own eyes to check the resolution.

A Link Between Worlds is a spiritual sequel to ALTTP. It has the same overworld but remixed with all new dungeons, enemies, story, well its a totally new game. The main power is the painting into a wall mechanic. Other major changes include the item shop which allows you to buy all items in the game so you can approach dungeons any way you want.
This maybe the dark horse for GOTY.
