1. Valkyrie: Covenant of the Plume
2. Knights in the Nightmare
Personally I have to recommend GTA: Chinatown Wars. Probably the best/most enjoyable game I personally played this year on all consoles/handhelds i own
Chinatown wars, dont make me hurt you Ask!
Oh and Rhythm Heaven is brilliant fun.
If you haven't played DQ IV go ahead and get that along with DQ V. It's a basic RPG, but it's still pretty good. Good quality exploring in that game, and a very unique way of story telling. And if you have played the original DQ IV the additional chapter they added to this game may be one of the greatest I've ever played. I fit so well onto the original story that you'd swear it was always meant to be a part of the game. And who knows, maybe it was.
TWEWY is an excellent game though it may take some time for you to warm up to it. I just got through with it and it took me almost halfway through the game to really "get it." Once I did, it was nirvana.
Since you've got a DSi you've also got access to some excellent puzzle games from the DSiware. Pictobits and Boxlife have been crack for me. Pictobits in particular is very tough to put down. Plus you've already got 1000 free DSi points so go out and use them.

I guess I'm in for a lot of hurt because GTA Chinatown Wars don't interest me!
*Don't hurt me! Don't hurt me!*
Well, I was never into any GTA to tell you the truth. I haven't even played GTAIV yet.
But Rhtyhm Heaven looks pretty cool. But first, I want to pick up that new Suikoden DS game (how come nobody talks about it?), Fire Emblem, and maybe something else.

you probably won't believe me but i didn't care for any GTA prior to chinatown, and i tried, and even tried to like all of them. the 3 ps2 ones, the 2 psp ones and the really old ones, i even played some of IV and it didn't do much for me either. that didn't stop me from spending more than 30 hours with chinatown wars and loving every minute of it. all i'm saying is, please don't let the fact that it's a GTA game put you off. it's hard to explain myself as it does take a lot from the series but none of the bad traits it seems.
Besides Leo who hasn't yet expressed himself on the game, pretty much everyone else here who played it, loved it and everyone else i know who tried it did too. just don't miss out on a great game because it's GTA.

EEEEEEEEVVVVVVVEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRR ! ! !
SUIKODEN MAKE LEO ANGRY ! ! !
*LEO LETS OUT A LION'S ROAR!*

I heard about that. Yes, bad voice acting can kill a game's enjoyment *cough* Shining Force Neo*cough*. But I can live with it if the game is good.
So is the game good though, worth playing?

Supposedly, if you can tolerate the main characters voice to get that far, once you really get into the meat of the game, finding the 108 stars and utilizing their team attacks makes for a good, fun more-suikoden-like experience...
I'm serious when I say though, you have --N-E-V-E-R-- heard a voice actor as BAD and GRATING as this guy!
Doesn't take breaths, displays no emotion whatsoever, and just reads from the script as FAST as humanly possible... Cut down on the Red Bull my short attention span compadre!

Yeah, I'm not into demonic stuff. Just never was, although Persona 3 and 4 are pretty good. Those don't feel to demonic but the Devil series are too crazy and out there for me to handle.

Owned and beaten. Good, but too repetitive and easy. And since I'm already talking about a game titled Princess Debut, I may as well ignore the embarrassment and say that the princes from which you're supposed to choose as partners are also pretty unlikeable.

I wish I could have punched Vince in the face...
Wait, what are you doing playing Princess Debut?
So far, I need to pick up Dragon Quest V and I'm dying to play Fire Emblem. But what else have I missed?
I hope this can be a semi-official DS recommendation + discussion thread, but also to talk about upcoming releases and what you guys are currently playing!
And yes, I got a DSi. I wanted a Lite but I just didn't want to deal with possible cracked hinges. Knowing the DSi doesn't have this problem, and since it's the latest DS model, I thought it was worth the extra $40.
Anyway, let's discuss!
