At inception and launch I was still living at home.
7000 StarCraft games, 2500 chess games, and 1000 Dota games later, I have a new appreciation for how single-minded I can be.
Ever been asked "Where do you see yourself in five years"? Good luck with that one. Let's just wait it out.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileWow 5 years! That's crazy. Thank you so much for this site yoda. This has been a home away from home.
BTW I can do a podcast any night this week after 10:30 or so.
Wow 5 years... That's something else. Congrats on putting the site together, and keeping it together this long. That's a pretty major accomplishment in my book. As for the other stuff let's see...
In 2008 I moved my family up to Orlando from Ft. Lauderdale and began to work from home and threw off the shackles of corporate pants. It wouldn't until 2009 that I would discover this website, when Iga introduced it to me. At the time I was only gaming on a Wii and Gamespot was not exactly a welcome forum for people who gave a crap about Mario at the time. This site came around just in time.
FIve years already? Wow! That's really cool. I was here before here was even here yet, lol. I remember bailing on Gamespot when GG left, and eventually finding GG on 1Up when he started doing his GG Weekly blog posts. And then Yoda hacking 1Up so we could have more features within said blog, which eventually led to Insert Coin, and then finally The VG Press! It's been a fun ride. Here's to another 5 years!
Five years (and a bit) ago I was campaigning for the site to be named Lair of the Bat Anii with GG. Nothing has changed, we should still name the site Lair of the Bat Anii!
Hopefully in 5 years time I'll still be able to post here, and everyone else currently posting, will be posting as well (and the site will be named Lair of the Bat Anii).
Wow! Happy birthday, VGPress! Yoda, thank you for creating this wonderful haven to escape from the real world and all of its stress. Five years ago I was married, no children. Now I have two.

That should be the site's subtitle. The VG Press: Lair of the Bat Anii.

It's a compromise, but I'm willing to take it.
The podcast could be : listen to the sounds from the bat anii!
I was going to post a blog end of last year, which to me was the anniversary of where it all started way back to Insert Coin and before on 1up. To me my VGPress journey began just before Mario Galaxy launched where I was suspended at Gamespot. And the first anniversary is the day I posted the first GG Weekly on 1up.
I'm most thankful to the people who followed me to 1up to keep in touch, I felt like I was out in the wilderness and leaving everything behind only to be joined by an awesome bunch of friends. And I think nearly everyone who was there at 1up is still here today. So it's been over 5 years for me, 6 years I think. And considering I was at Gamespot for years before it means I've known some of you for a decade or something. That's mind boggling and I hope we keep in touch for another 10 years.
And as always, a massive thanks to Yoda for making this awesome clubhouse. I voted with Foolz, Lair of the Bat Ani FTW.
BTW we actually owe Gertsmann a lot in our journey here. Sure there was disatifaction brewing at Gamespot for years but Gertsmangate gave some people that extra push out the door. I still remember when we had this focus on expanding the site and all and that's faded away. I like our group of people and it feels like a cool club house and the lack of moderation works here because we're generally all good people most of the time. And the new members are usually old friends like Supreme AC.
Happy Birthday everybody. Next round's on me.
Big thanks to Yoda always for making it possible. Also thanks to gg, aspro, leo and iga and anyone else who posts news and keeps it going when the rest of us are too lazy.

Amazing journey. And thank you too.
Yes, thank you, GG! I remember following you to 1 Up and wondering what the hell am I doing there. GG, do you remember a pm I sent to you attempting to bribe you to go back to Gamespot by offering Mario Galaxy mp3 downloads?
Wow, 5 years? I mean, it seems just like yesterday since I first set foot in here. I remember it clearly, how Phantom Leo came into the remnants of the GS VU, only to leave a welcoming message for people to join you all here. If it weren't for the stagnation of the VU.net and my recent return to GS due to that, I wouldn't have noticed. But here I am, reacquinted with my old pal GG and putting up with the rest of you guys.
I'd like to thank Yoda for the great setup of this site. Social media killed the VU.net, where you'll only see a handfull of comments (lest not talk of actual new posts) per day, but where everyone seems to know everything about everyone, except for me, who doesn't dabble in social media. Here, with the news feed, discussion is a lot more volatile. I can check here multiple times a day, and there'll always be something new to read.
So cheers to the VGpress and may it have a happy birthday, only to wake up with a hangover, it's pants on it's head, and in some strange bed, possibly next to an ex-miss universe.

I don't remember but I do remember a deal in which Vader bought Endless Ocean and I would reappear.

That was my thinking when it came to discussion and me being something of a newshound. Without new info the conversation could stagnate.
I can't imagine where I'd/we'd be without Yoda making this site. I probably would have done some wordpress blog and eventually try to work out how to add forums. I also initially wanted the format to be like the GG Weekly I did on 1up, but Yodas columns and communal news posting is a much better solution. I love the ease of use and BS free website. It just runs, 99.9% of the time, with no hassles.
Cool shit man, happy 5 years to the VG Press and all of us.
I honestly probably wouldn't bother posting on any online forums anymore if not for this site. This is the only place I hang out and chat...every other site is just for viewing only. So really, this place has kept me being an active poster solely on its own. I have no use for dealing with the random people of a usual board anymore. That was fun when I was 21.
When this site started I had just started the job I'm still currently at now, and I had not even began dating my girlfriend whom I have a 5 year anniversary also coming up soon. There was a lot more changes going on for me back then, than there is now. Should be a trip to see where the next 5 years go.
Anyway, rock on motherfuckers!
What I want to know is your journey with The VG Press. Where were you in 2008? Where are you now and how did you get there?
Keep it going. I want to see you in 5 more.
