I'm glad the Pats won. Loving in Florida I found myself suddenly surrounded by Jaguar fans over the last month and it seemed like just a year ago I could not have found any if I looked. Now they will all shut up and go the hell away.

This weekend I returned to Arkham, playing with the Batman double pack, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.  What about you lunatics?

I'm juggling Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Catherine, neither of which you can really call player-friendly games. I'm not sure I'll finish either, but I figure it's worth a try.

I’ve been playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Have had a few marathon weekends with this game and am over 100 hours on it and still haven’t beaten it yet. I don’t particularly care for the randomness of acquiring most of the blades and some aspects of the game can get quite tedious at times however I am still enjoying the game a fair amount.

Sounds like one of those areas where people are only fans when the teams win. Trendy fans.

That's part of it. But you also have to remember the Jaguars haven't been good for almost 20 years. That's like a generation. So there's just an entire group of fans that does not know how to win and act like they are winners. They just know how to be obnoxious fucks.

Where I live it is basically the opposite for Football. But it was the case for some sports. Though Hockey had a difficult time at first. We had an NHL team since 1967 but it wasn't until the early 80s that they got successful after they changed their team colors to match the other teams in Pittsburgh.

Been playing Splatoon 2.

Awesome as usual. Had some hair raising - seat of your pants Grizzco matches and some fun in turf wars too.

I actually was on a two man team vs 4 and I got 16 kills LOL. So I killed each member of the team 4 times each. Or over 3 per minute. We lost of course.

I'm really hating ink storms at the moment, especially when two players on the opposing team release them at the same time, they are hard to avoid. And tentamissles too. Yeah, the specials in Splatoon 2 are too easy for jerks to spam when there is more than one of the same special type user. Really fucks me off. Especially tentamissiles, which take ZERO skill to use.

I will not stand here idly while you keep slandering the noble tentamissile!  Enough is enough, good sir.  There are many 'cheap' specials in Splatoon2 that are far more bothersome than an early warned, easily dodged tentamissile.  I hardly ever get splatted by them.  What I am incredibly sick of however, is splashdowns.  When triggered at close range, they are near unescapable and once they're over it's very easy for your opponent to pick you off while you're still trying to see through the 'smoke' they leave behind.

I also don't get how you keep coming up against teams that keep spamming tentamissiles.  I think I've only ever played one game where I felt there were too many tentamissiles being launched.

So I haven't been able to game much for the last few weeks, but that doesn't mean I can't post about them, right?

I had made some good progress in Mario+Rabbids during my Christmas break and am currently over halfway through world 3.  I'm not smitten with the game.  It's very clear that while this is a Mario game at the surface, it is not a Nintendo made game.  Nintendo has outsourced their IP in the past, but the design here is by times just shoddy.  The overworld is also charmless to me.  It's just a long linear pathway with repetitive scenery.  It feels like you're walking thorugh a theme park attraction.  The gameplay itself is good during combat, but then again, that' just a ripoff of Xcom.  I also don't see how this game is funny, at all.

My son received ARMS yesterday during a belated newyears party.  Truth is my parents had already bought it for him months ago for his birthday, but for some reason it hadn't been handed to him then.  This means that instead of an endless stream of words about Mario+Rabbids, I will now be bombarded with talk about ARMS for a month or 2 at least, interspersed with yet more Rabbids talk.

My WiiU is dying, as the connection between gamepad and console is very iffy.  I still have to finish XCX and unwrap FE:TMS, so this is very unfortunate.  I'd get a second hand WiiU to solve the matter, but budget, both timewise and financially, is tighter than I feel comfortable with at the moment.

You know due to the damn gamepad I have a feeling that in another 5 years or so fully functioning Wii U's are going to be a big collectors item.

This is alarming.  I was not aware of these issues with the Uii U or the gamepad.  May have to buy a spare one while they are more or less still available.  They are not cheap though, for a five year old, now discontinued console.

I've been in matches where there have been 3 tentamissiles per minute. Also you don't play with a weapon where making a stand is your one play. Try playing with a gatling or sniper rifle and then go up against tentamissiles non-stop. It's the cheapest, most boring crap I've ever seen and my eyes roll into the back of my head. At least in Splatoon 1 an inkstrike was a precise device that took timing and skill to nail someone. If you spot someone at a specific point on the other side of the map, carefully read and interpret the map on the U gamepad and nail that sucker exactly where you want - whilst also avoid being nailed while vunerable - that is better than the tentamissle bullcrap where you don't even have to have line of sight, just vaguely wave a giant cursor (they even made said cursor larger in one of the updates) and click one button to automatically fire multiple missiles at multiple people all at once.

Each of those missiles marking the other players so anyone can see where they are and forcing them to keep moving so they are easy to shoot. BORING bollocks.

I think we can at least both agree, that there is not a single special weapon in Splatoon2 that can even stand in the shadow of the great Killer Wail.  Such great design, such ludicurous concept, such a precise tool of mass destruction.  Oh Killer Wail, how you are missed.

In general I think that the big difference between the 2 games is that in the first, the special weapons, save the POS Kraken, were all more suited to being used in a tactical manner, while in Splatoon2 they're often just cheap kill enablers.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-01-21-where-do-downloadable-games-go-when-they-die

This is an interesting article.  I loath the idea of games becoming unavailable or lost forever.  Especially games I bought and like.  Reminds me I need to make sure that I have all the WiiWare titles I want installed on my Wii.  Would hate to lose things like Icarian, Lost Winds, Castlevania and Gradius Rebirth, My life as King etc

Looks like Microsoft had somebody hack the PS4 to force Sony to release the PS5 early. LOL

Statistics are scarce, but it appears that 100% of WiiU's owned by SupremeAC are affected.

If so they're about a year late, as it only works on outdated firmware.
