Racist list. Shenmue cost $70 million. Yakuza was only a paltry $21 million to make (trivia).
Believe it or not, that's a world-wide release. I actually --JUST-- got a text about getting it at midnight tomorrow...
...dunno about that...
...so far I have no plans, but Pokemon...? Not so sure it's worth the effort.
GTAV could have benefited from some editing. It really was too much fluff (the golf and tennis is nice and all, but really it's one of those things you play once and move on with).
Well I don't think 3 times the expense is all attributed to that, but the expenses for robust online modes including servers and the such does get expensive. And I may be talking out of my ass here, but from what I was told a decade or so ago programmers who do communications/internet/peer-to-peer programming get a much higher fee tha standard code monkeys. I'd imagine developing for the next gen consoles along with the PS3 and 360 consoles raised the price quite a bit too.
This is where my split personlities start to appear. I've beaten all the pokemon games except for white and black. For whatever reason I am stupidly loyal to Pokemon and I've almost got a hardon just thinking about getting my 2Ds tomorrow and a new Pokemon that many reviewers are saying is the best in the series yet.
It is completely illogical.
She'll help you get rid of the "almost."
Up until a half hour ago they would not even load for me, now they are faster than before.
The new site looks ok, and like I said, it is better for their news and editorial, but the blogs have been decimated, the forums lack many normal features and the whole site is puffy. I mean, I do wonder why they did not just cobrand with Giantbomb and be done with it. But at least they are trying. Their old shit was... well shit, and it was beyond time for a re-boot.
Yes she did, but not in the way you expected. (insert SFX: sad trombone)
So what was this Ring of Fire all about? Seems like a place akin to what the VU used to be. Did it come in to existance after the VU left GS?
What happened?
Oh.
It's been years so I'm foggy on this but I seem to remember Steelo setting it up. I think it had 5 founding members, me, Steel, Godmode I think..... maybe UpInFlames and one to two others? Its name was a joke about an itchy anus and the Johnny Cash song.
Europe/Japan/U.S. - 1st half retail sales for 2013, estimated global total
It was very much like the VU; bunch of very close guys and girls; spent less time talking about games, though, than just about everything else you can imagine, but they had their own Game-a-Thon(g) going on to see who would complete more games, the scant official topic and GOTY or Year End Review ones as well. The most active topic was always the "Weekend" one.
It was Steel and GodMode, iirc, who set it up. We from the VG Press were a lot of the original members: Me, Steel, Vader, Edge, Aspro, Bear. UpinFlames came quickly after the start. Rragnar was there pretty early on too. S0lid came shortly after.
The VU came first, but it didn't share that many members between; I don't think the "demise" or migration of the VU lead to RoF.

I played a couple of 3DS demos recently, Etrian Odyssey 4, wtf is this? A first person RPG you control via the dpad? It's a wretched abomination in mechanics.
The Phoenix Wright Dual Destinies demo is so heavenly to a longtime fan I didn't even have or want to play through to the end of the demo - it sold me on the game 10 minutes in. It plays mechanically just like the old games, no change there but now it looks gorgeous. Everything is 3D now, not just the effect of the 3DS but the actual modelling. And it's done in a way that looks totally consistent with the past artstyle. Seeing the camera pan around a 3D + 3DS effect virtual courtroom is like fireworks popping in your brain. It's sooooo awesome. A must buy game.
EDIT: f***ing hell, I was 80% done with my WW review when I accidently hit a link which changed the page.
Etrian Odyssey is apparently a very hardcore dungeon crawler from the old school but a group of people (probably more vocal than large) really love the series and swear by it.

In other news the useless idiots at the post office seem to have lost my Windwaker package. They left me a not to go pick it up from the depot when they should have left it in the box anyway - it's only a small box. When I went there with the note they couldn't find it. "Are you sure you haven't already picked it up?" ... YES you useless morons why in the fuck would I be there holding the stupid not you left me if I'd already picked it up?

Seems super hardcore.
My Wind Waker review is up.
The group of people who like it is a lot bigger than you'd think. By no means is it huge, but it keeps finding more fans with each installment and probably has a base around 300K to 400K now. I think it appeals to that growing segment of gamers that's tired of hand holding and wants more hardcore experiences like Dark Souls.
GG was also there from day one. Before he got old and weary and retired to his rocking chair.
