The show was a mess but I dont blame McFarlane. How do you make a boring Bond tribute, that takes effort.

Yeah they could have made that better plus there were some pretty awkward moments like that with the Avengers cast.

So this is interesting:

Rumour Killzone 4 was made with 1.5gb RAM

On the devkits.
Most devs were working with 1.5 gbs

If true there are a number of implications. Firstly it would explain why most games didn't look anywhere near as good as Deep Down. And it means PS4 graphics will get a lot better and more detailed. But the rumour is that all devs were using 1.5gb ram, so Deep Down is possible with that limited amount of memory?

The other reason it's interesting is because Wii U has 1gb ram free and Nintendo is aiming to free up more by reducing the OS footprint so you would get around 1.5gb free just for games, so you would/could see U graphics like those early PS4 reveals albeit at 720p not 1080p with a 2.5x lower fillrate at that resolution.

EDIT: Obviously with less complex geometry, probably worse performance, what I mean is similar 'enough'. And I'm excluding Deep Down from this inference.

Yeah Tomb Raider is getting some great reviews. Looking forward to playing this game. Very impressive that the Killzone and other demos were running on devkits with only 1.5 GB of RAM. Can't wait to see the finished products. Deep Down is freakin' stunning. If this is how Dragon's Dogma 2 will be then I'll be in heaven. Grinning

I guess memory really is the new Cell. People were screaming clock speeds until they heard the clock rumors for the PS4 and Durango. Now its all about RAM volume, which is ironic. People dismissed the the Wii U having 4 times as much RAM as the PS3/360 but the PS4 having 4 times as much RAM as the Wii U is AMAZINGGGG!!!!.

I see that RAM is going to be the new boasting point for elitists around the net (though once again, it was viewed as insignificant when it was in favor of "not Sony".) "Look at all the big numbe!"

LOL New consoles bring it all out.

I read the instructions, did the camera lock on the big boss. Whenever I was knocked over the camera lock was lost. And you get knocked on your ass all the time. Not only that the camera lock doesn't really do anything, it doesn't lock the camera on like zelda or anything. You still have to adjust the camera with the second stick or auto centre it with L constantly which momentarily takes your thumb off the dodge and attack buttons. That fricking bunny was slip sliding all over the place.

I'm not one to tell you to keep playing a game you're not enjoying, but if you're getting knocked down all the time, you're still not playing it right. The key to playing the game is remembering that it's not a typical action game where you can basically just get up to an enemy, lock-on, and then just take turns attacking and dodging. You really have to master the art of staying just far enough away and then moving in to attack it lets its' guard down, and knowing which weapon is the best for the job.  While some weapons are more useful than others, there is no one weapon that'll work against everything. That's the lesson I didn't quite learn when I played the original Wii version when I focused too much on using one of the light bows. After a while I couldn't hold my own against anything.

So like I said, if it's not for you then cool you'll find something else to play. But if you want to give it one more chance try fighting the bunny with the dual blades and see if that doesn't change your battle outcome.

How does the "watermark" technology work? Has this been used elsewhere? I suppose it's like limited installs, but it makes it sounds like it prints something on the disc. LOL

Sites wiggy today so I'm not posting news yet. Shame as there is some good stuff. BGE2 was in development for Wii U and PS3, 360 but stopped in 2011. Ubi's CEO says its coming and they will show something next time someone asks so next gen I guess.

Splinter cell blacklist is all but confirmed for wii u, a ubisoft designer has it listed as a game he's working on. Ubisoft seem to be bringing it to Wii U with Watchdogs, Splinter cell and recentely the new Rainbow six was semi confirmed too. EA is rumoured to have Battlefield 4 wii u too.

Watch dogs PS3/360 version isn't even being worked on at the moment. They are making next gen versions first which includes the wii u version which is already up and running and then downporting. So it seems the wii u version is a scaled down next gen game whilst the 360/ps3 versions will eventually be a downport of that? There's another rumour that Durango will be massively underpowered compared to ps4 and that MS wont even talk specs in their upcoming reveal. Doubtful on the spec front unless something has changed, its only the RAM type which is different but the massive operating system will make big demands on the system reportedly.

Assassin’s Creed III’s creative director Alex Hutchinson  first impressions of PS4.:

The hardware also has more grunt, which is always exciting, but also has the potential to make development more expensive although I don’t think it’s as big a jump as the previous generation. These days we’re usually building high resolution assets and then creating simpler versions for different platforms or different LODs. But it will push up the fidelity of the top end of the industry again, which will make it harder again for smaller or medium sized studios to compete: it’s a continuation of the arms race we’ve been in at the triple-A level for a while now, where blockbusters keep getting bigger, and continue to compress sales in a smaller segment at the top end.

For smaller studios or teams hopefully the fact that the kit is easier to use, has a tremendous amount of power, and is a lot closer to a traditional PC, which should allow them to develop more easily and more cheaply. I also think the sharing features will also be huge for smaller devs trying to get exposure outside of the traditional marketing model.

Q:  How significant is this leap forward?

AH: It’s an interesting time for the business: there’s no real gimmick feature to latch onto, the controller is basically the same and I don’t see much point in the touch pad on it, but there are improvements for connectivity and portability as I said, but overall there are no cheap wins for developers. I think this is really significant, because it puts all the stress on the success or failure of this generation on the software, which is where it needs to be. We need to work through the hard problems of broadening the audience and the type of content we can create, without radical changes in hardware forcing us to rebuild the basics of game-making, and without being able to rely on shinier graphics or 3D TVs. So I think it’s conceptually significant, although at first glance it looks smaller than perhaps previous transitions appeared.

I truly believe that players are going to buy games based on the content they’re offering more than visuals or technical features. What is your core fantasy? How strong is the emotional hook in your game? What are you allowing people to do that they’ve never done before, or how can you take an emotion people already like to the next level? The answers to these kinds of questions will dictate the winners of this generation, not just who can push more polys around the screen, or who can create better lighting.
