As usual I've mostly been playing Ni No Kuni with the odd bit of Fire Emblem: Awakening here and there. I'm probably pretty close to finishing NNK, may try for the Platinum with this game. Up to Chapter 6 with FEA.

Basically this. Got a bit tired of my clumsy redguard fighter, starting a new game with a potential thief/assassin. Also wanted to check out two new mods by rolling a new char, Race Menu and ApachiiSkyHair.

I've mostly been dossing around with Wii U Street. It's great for viewing your past vacation destinations in 3D.

There's a game somewhere in here too, it uses the Wii U features very well for the most part and the dual screens is very useful for the maps and wider views etc. Gyros and screen = weird but wonderful window effect, sure iPad could do it, Vita too but you need a screen plus gyros to do this stuff. Sometimes its not easy to find exactly what you are looking for and it almost becomes like a game, switching between satellite views and normal maps, turning street views on and off, moving the screen like scanning in Metroid Prime.

I can see someone doing a game like this, say you were a tactical planner in a swat team with an overview, you almost feel like Chloe in 24, you see the troops on screen, have a birds eye and cctv view and use the touch screen, gyros, second view etc to plan and execute an attack or hostage rescue or something. They could make an awesome twist on the Conflict series.

BioWare: Next-Gen, and the costs of the AAA

If the Next Gen consoles are guaranteed to offer a certain technical leap, Neil Thompson (artistic director at BioWare) warns that players will be time to see the result on the screen, and for good reason: making graphically impeccable blockbusters will become a financial risk much greater than at the present time.

So yes, known, the PlayStation 4 and probably the Xbox 3 propose an architecture similar to the PC, to make some nice savings but beyond the cost of development, it is especially the workforce that may be difficult.

"The last jump technology (2005/06 on 360 and PS3) took everyone aback, especially with regard to the amount of people required to produce what people were expecting. At the time, players were expecting to see something at least ten times more beautiful than before. For the next generation, we will take a big step, but it will be not so obvious. We will do things in a much smarter way. I think that we are better prepared, but we cannot yet to multiply the size of our teams by ten. This is ridiculous and we would have to sell 20 to 30 million games before returning to our cost. »

So graphics limited by budget and team sizes.

Glad I didn't buy Monster Hunter 3 after playing the demo. The camera is ass, I hate that you cannot run without sheathing your weapon yet the bad guys can move at the speed of light at the drop of a hat. And I really don't want to play a game where every enemy is a really hard boss. Graphics are nice though, Wii games look fantastic in 1080p.

Didn't like the NBA 2K12 demo but I only played it for 60 seconds before turning it off. Graphics are ass, controls weren't explained and I couldn't be arsed reading the manual or playing it more. Meh, sports games.

The Monster Hunter demo is a bit unfair as even that easy battle with the bunny is kind of tough. The game does a better job walking you through combat and easing you in.  Definitely a steep learning curve with this game, but it gets easier as you learn how to fight. But yeah there is a limited amount of control to the camera. There's a few tricks to tapping it into place, but thats about it. And if you dont't like the idea of many boss fights this won't be your game.

PS4's cloud services are aspirational, not dated reality

Jack Tretton said:

Sony Computer Entertainment America president and CEO Jack Tretton has warned gamers not to expect all of the features outlined in Sony’s PS4 press to be available at launch.

That includes things such as streaming games, sharing gameplay video or remote play.

“I think it’s aspirational on the device, as opposed to us standing up there, pounding the floor and saying the day this thing ships all this stuff will be there,” Tretton told Forbes.

“I think it’ll absolutely be there for the device, but I don’t know whether it will be there for day one on the device. I think a lot of these are things that we’re gonna do over time. And with that said, I think there will be a tangible example of all the things that we showed. It’s just a question of how deep it will go, how many games it will involve.”

Casting further doubt on the situation, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida also admitted that streaming PS4 games to Vita could miss the console’s holiday 2013 arrival – although he clearly remains hopeful.

It sounds like they were just floating ideas that they might eventually get to work. Calling them aspirational. He "thinks" it'll be there for the device but has no idea when? Specualtes that "there are things we're gonna do over time"?

Eventually..... "I think there will be a tangible example of all the things that we showed. "

What the hell is this?

Now this:

Sony halves list of studios developing for PS4 :

The original list of 53 developers was released shortly after console's official announcement and included big names such as Namco Bandai, Bethesda, Rockstar, Disney and numerous others.

A spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has told Joystiq the initial list was wrong. A number of high-profile studios have been removed, including Mojang, Rovio, Criterion Games, City Interactive and Frozenbyte.

However, new studios have also been added to the roster.

Many of the studios removed from the original list, such as Mojang, 17-Bit and Vlambeer, haven't outright ruled out supporting Sony's next console, and have simply stated they either have nothing currently in development for the console, or haven't decided on anything yet.

I'm sure they will get great support, but the conference itself is starting to sound a little fishy. Firstly their features,  in their own words are "aspirational" not reality, then the big picture of support they show is only half true and "wrong".

And this:

Sony: Dual Shock 4 Will be limited compared to Move :

The PlayStation 4 should be delivered with a dual camera that will follow the light placed above the Dual Shock 4 controller. But Michael Denny, vice-president of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe, warns: this ability should not be confused with the PlayStation Move-specific features.

Indeed, with regard to the detection of movement, the PS Move will have more fluid, complex movements, while the famous light on the DS4 is just a simple addition that will add more features on some games and directly operate the PS Eye with for example with augmented reality - (tracking for instance - GG)

I spotted a problem with that light days ago but deleted my post because I didn't see Media Molecules portion. The light on the front of the DS4 is much like the Wii 1 IR port, it's flat and small and will only be seen when the controller is directly facing the tv screen which limits your range of movement unlike the PSMove ball which can always be visible. So at best the DS4 is going to have maybe, IR like features but two handed. It probably has accurate magnometres in it for Wii Motion Plus style movement. Probably not as accurate as Wii U's because the company who did the Wii U magnometres said that the size of the U controller let them put in very large sensors that could detect the absolution position. The DS4 is too small for that but it will still be comparable IMO with some drift.

I read the instructions, did the camera lock on the big boss. Whenever I was knocked over the camera lock was lost. And you get knocked on your ass all the time. Not only that the camera lock doesn't really do anything, it doesn't lock the camera on like zelda or anything. You still have to adjust the camera with the second stick or auto centre it with L constantly which momentarily takes your thumb off the dodge and attack buttons. That fricking bunny was slip sliding all over the place.

So Ubisoft Bucharest is doing the 360/PS3/WiiU port of Watch Dogs.

This is their track record:

2011: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (PC) - multiplayer collaboration with Annecy

2011 : Abba: You Can Dance (Wii) - in collaboration with Paris

2012 : Ghost Recon Future Soldier (X360, PS3) - in collaboration with Paris

2012 : Assassin's Creed 3 (X360, PS3, PC) - multiplayer in collaboration with Annecy

2012 : ZombiU (Wii U) - in collaboration with Montpellier
