At Nintendo, we do not allow teams to employ excess staff. I assume The Avengers are more forgiving in this regard. [Laughs]

I had that game preordered at Best buy, then when I realised it was complete crap I decided to cancel the preorder and Best Buy didn't like that....they gave me a bunch of grief. Last time I ever preorder a game I'm not 100% sure about at Best Buy.
Clearly Nintendo learned their lesson after the 2nd time?
Skyward Sword was about 2-3 years too late. They should have released the WiiU last year and made it a launch title
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
Two quick notes:
(1) Anyone with a 3DS should check out the 3D Videos. The Kid Icarus mini-cartoons are well animated and the 3D is REALLY, REALLY good!
(2) Fans of Chrono Trigger and/or DS RPG's: GET. RADIANT. HISTORIA. IF this game was on Super Nintendo, it would have received as much praise as CT. That it was released along with a flood of other DS RPG's late in the life-cycle of the system, was a poor decision. They did a second printing because demand was so high, and I jumped on it. Awesome story. Clever mechanics. Tons of Quests and the whole Jumping through History/Time --PLUS-- multiple, multiple endings (a-la CT) make it WELL worth owning/playing! Get it before it's TOTALLY gone!
Yeah I really need to get Radiant Historia...
Sounds like a fine game. Was it a remakeof a PSOne game or from another system? I swear it was released on another system during another RPG flood too.
I'm still not seeing a huge negative to the mandatory online connection for SimCity. I'll concede that its a bummer for people who play it on a laptop while traveling, but I really don't see that as more than a very small slice of this game's audience. Its a good way to fight piracy without forcing additional fees or anything else unsavory on the consumer. Plus the potential for community interaction seems fascinating. Really hope my computer can run this.
Exactly what I've been saying but I'm not gonna get into that again.
Ugh, no shit. Its completely disgusting how Nintendo kept most 1st-party published games on the Wii at full price for almost an entire generation in some cases. I think they hurt their own sales doing that. The only franchise they have that can get away with it is Super Mario. What ever happened to games dropping to Greatest Hits prices about a year after launch?
They can't pull this crap on their new system.
Nope totally original DS RPG!
The map of Historia, which basically shows two alternating timelines, has nodes on it, representing important events in the game. Some are Side-Quests, Some are Alternate Endings, Most are events of either timeline... There's over 240 of them! Here's a teeny-tiny example of what the node map looks like:
You have to jump between ether histories as events in one can affect the other, or things that may not exist in one may be necessary in another. It's confusing at first, but the nodes all have descriptions and you can time-travel to major nodes and back again at will.
As for the battle system, it is part tradtional RPG with Attacks and Skills (Spells), but you can also push enemies around on a 3 X 3 grid. This affects the attacks they can do slightly, as being closer to you means they are more deadly, but you can also push them INTO each other so they occupy the same grid-point for a moment, so one attack affects all of them at once. It is also a bit confusing at first, but once you learn how to exploit THAT the battles get to be much more strategic and satisfying. The battles ALSO have a Grandia-like order to them, interrupting enemies turns or exchanging your allies turns to make powerful combos, also becomes very important.
This probably sounds complicated, but it's not, put into practice. It all adds up to a VERY unique way to battle. It's actually simpler than it sounds, but also very clever at the same time!
Has nothing to do with:
AAhhhhhhhh that's what was confusing me.
Agreed except for the following case; what happens when EA (EDIT: permenantly) shuts down their verification servers for the game?
I still play SimCity 3000, from 1998, every year. Given the promptness with which EA shuts down it's multiplayer servers I doubt I'll still be able to play the new SimCity in 2026.
Fair point. i forgot how frustrating scheduled and non-scheduled downtime could be. Hopefully since the multi-player seems to be pretty light it won't happen too often.
Ahh yes the expensive coaster rule UBI does it too.
I think I am reaching the point where I never want to see an RPG ever again.
I got my issue of GI today, read all about TES Online. Sounds like every other MMO except the article says its not but without any good examples why. Its third person now, like all MMOs. It has cartoony graphics, like all MMOs. It has the same combat queue system but this game has "Stamina" which you can block, they say that changes everything. You cant be great at all classes you have to choose a path it seems. It kind of sounds like the missions wont be as awesome as in the normal games. There is an end game PvP epic war for cyrodill which sounds ok. Maybe horses, no dragons, cant get married to an NPC. It just sounds dumb and pointless to me.
This aspect of PC gaming is horrifying.
Best case scenario is they disable that feature at some point and the game will be available for re-sale for next to nothing through Origin or Steam. But that would still mean re-buying it (however trivial the amount).
Because I expect intelligent people to take the obvious into account automatically and not need to have it stated to them each and every time.
Whereas I assume everyone is intelligent, you assume everyone is stupid and needs to be told.
Nintendo don't care, they will do whatever they want cause that's how they roll.
Seriously, some people might like how it looks but I can't imagine a situation where the sales wouldn't drop.
