Since we're having a review off, why not bring up my latest published review, for Rittai Picross?

Shine on you crazy diamond.  Simple question and a dealmaker on the game, would you recommend it to someone who doesn't like sudoku?

i can't stand sudoku.  i love both picross DS and rittai picross so much.  endless hours of fun.

by the way reading darth's review now i know what the squares are around numbers, until now i treated circles and squares the same, thanks buddy!

IF YOU PICK UP JUST ONE GAME TODAY, MAKE SURE YOU GET:

UNCHA

A BOY AND HIS BLOB (Wii)

...alright... maybe Uncharted also... but seriously give this game a good look!

I was half paying attention to the previews and forum posts. I always made mental note of pics like the one above, saying to myself: "Well the cutscenes/concept art looks nice, but when are we going to see some gameplay shots?"

Ummm... That is a gameplay shot...!

Between this and Muramasa, it seems there are still some people out there with an appreciation for 2D artistry!

The game plays just like the 8-bit, classic puzzle-platformer, using the Boy, his Blob and Jellybeans!

...but so many years ago, I would NEVER have been able to imagine a game looking THIS good!

Wayforward REALLY outdid themselves this time!

No doubt that is a beautiful looking game, but I have to admit I'm a little worried.  I didn't think the original was that much fun, though in retrospect I think the controls were what gave me the biggest fits.  Probably a rental for me.  Going to be cautious with this one.

So I played some more Lost winds 2, I'm about 3 and a half hours in which doesn't count the 45 mins or so where I didn't save it and just pootled along.

Great game that gets better. Because of the moveset, the levels feel much more intricate and better designed. Everything is really smooth too. You can now use a whirldwind to suck up water from a pool. The water turns into a cloud and you can move the cloud and drop the water wherever you want.

Also you can downward thrust the whirlwind into marked ground to use it like a giant drill.

Wow! Simply put Uncharted 2 is the most cinematic game I have ever played, forget MGS, forget all the other movie style game wannabes this game sets a brand new standard in how to make a game look and feel like a movie. I dont mean cutscenes even though those are excellent as well, I mean the way the camera chooses the perfect angle to capture a scene, the way the characters interact as the action is going on, the way the music comes in at the right moments. Sorry to Batman, I know Mark Hamill did great but this game has the best voice acting of the year, no of the entire generation, it has the best acting in terms of motion capture as well.

The core gameplay is unchanged from the first game. If you didnt like the platforming in that one nothing has changed here, it still sort of auto jumps for you, but again this is not Mario. It works perfectly for this style of game and I find the platforming situations to feel more natural. The combat is unchanged as well with a tiny adjustment to the melee and a few more stealth moves. A Batman: AA like combat system would have been awesome in this game, it would allow for more Indiana Jones like fist fights.

While it plays nearly identical to the first game what sets this title apart is how they are mixing up the setpieces. Right from the start you are doing something completely different than anything in the first game. What I have played so far (3 hours) has shown far more variety than the first game did. Another noticeable difference is that the action setpieces are far better designed than the first game. There are more areas to hide, the environments are larger allowing for many different strategies. Best of all there is plenty of oppertunity to climb on things so you can get a height advantage on your opponents. The result is that gun fights are much more fun cause the level design has been much improved.

This is Uncharted 1 X 20. Everything is ramped up. It's the classic bigger, better, sequel. Don't forget it has a stellar multiplayer component to go along with it as well.

(BTW I am playing on hard, I think this game is easier than the first one.)

great impressions dvader.  though the first game was very solid and extremely well-made  i didn't like  that it felt somewhat formulaic and by the numbers.  token puzzles, token platforming, token driving sequences and mostly token gunfights made it a jack of all trades kind of game for me.

from your impressions i'm gathering that the game still tries to do everything but the gunfights this time around are more involved and better but the other aspects are still just to mix things up a bit?

Vader you know GG is going to give you the 3rd degree. I urge you to make a thread so that everything is nice and organized.

You can slide your credit card between his ass cheeks to purchase.

Better disinfect it afterwards too.

You know I really like reading this because its what more developers should f****** do. Improve level design.
