You deserve a broken screen.
Look at this from Rune Factory Frontier:
It's like Endless Ocean in the sky!
Kizuna screens.
A few Skycrawlers pics
If this was a sci fi shooter I might be interested. As it is, the anime will have to be great so I can get into a game like this. I loved Crimson Skies on Xbox.
I am alone here?
So all that moaning about the lack of hardcore games at E3 and nintendo are releasing this in a couple of months in europe? What the hell is going on?
You know whenever I see bad quality screens like this I always look at the HUD and colour. If the HUD isn't clear you can tell that they are badly taken screenshots and will look better on the screen. Like you really couldn't find a RE4 screen that was clear and looked as good as it did on Cube. Unless you get PC high res screens.
These Disaster shots have some poor texture detail in places. If it runs at a steady frame rate and is presumably cleaner it will a lot more like the early screens only better:

Still not exactly a looker though.
The main character look kinda cool. Reinds me of Wolverine. The October 21st date is confirmed, there is even a page at Nintendo's german site, with release dat 2008 4th quarter. Nintendo, more like Ninjatendo.
Morning all.
The US Monday...and the beginning of a new week of news. Yay.
Looks like that neo guy had it right, good call on reporting it. I was wrong. Still, WTH is with this game releasing so soon and literally no hands on. Since it was first unveiled we have had in this order:
1. FMV promo
2. FMV mixed with 3 seconds of gameplay
3. Four screens
4. Five screens
...........
....
...
5. Sixty eight screens and the game releases in two months. WTF??????
Morning. Did you read the story about an Aussie jogger being attacked by a kangaroo?
i also like how the main guy in disaster looks. reminds me of the characters in Yakuza/Shenmue etc ie he has a Sega feeling about him
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
In that screen you can actually see the fibers of his T-Shirt. Makes you wonder why the environment textures seem so low on detail.
TGS soon isn't it?
I wasn't sure Neo was right either, but the way it was written made me think it could be real! My ninja sense was tingling.
Neogaf says that most of the screens are old! I hope the game turns out great, Nintendo would not buy Monolith is the game turned out to be crap, right?
Oh and about being released in Europe first! I just saw a pig fly!
I don't like the main characters look at all. I'm actually getting a real bad vibe from Disaster because I really think the concept is lame.
That saying 2009 really seems great for the Wii: Tenchu IV, Oboro Muramasa Youtoden, Sky Crawlers, Madworld, Kizuna, House of the Dead Overkill, Rune Factory, Arc Rise Fantasia, Kore, Capcom vs. Tatsunoko (rumored), SPray, and The Conduit. Now to me this is the same problem 2008 so far has been for the Wii. This is the type of line-up the Wii should've had THIS year not the NEXT. By now we should have seen plenty of new announcements for big AAA production games while the little guys who took the Wii's spotlight early release their games for it.
Anyway I have a question for all the Resident Evil fans here. I hear from a lot of people that Resident Evil 4 is the bastard child in the series and isn't a "real" Resident Evil game. I have heard their points but what do you people think of them *cough* Edge and Dvader *cough*?

If I may....
RE4 has very little in common with older REs if you're talking about how the game plays. Most of the main characters are from previous games in the series, though, as well as the herb-mix system for healing and the fact that you have to stand still to shoot or use your knife. However, it wouldn't be very hard to take out all the RE tie-ins from previous games and make RE4 a non-RE game. Sure, you'd have to get rid of Separate Ways, at least, but the main game would be very similar to what it is now.
I love both styles of play, and I'm glad that both exist in the same series.
October 9th to 12.
Thank you! If I was a chick I'd show you my boobies.
Apparently, they'll send me 2 for free. Niiice.
Crimson Skies was fucking pimp. I don't get why they didn't make another one for 360.
Heh....
Disaster LOOKS like a disaster.
I don't understand why the graphics aren't a hell of a lot better than that. Monolith have obviously created it from the ground up on Wii, and it looks like an average Gamecube game at best?
They created better looking games on the PS2 and Gamecube:
The gameplay looks really shotty as well. Like a bad version of RE4 or something. I think they should stick to RPG's.
Bastard child implies that its not as good, which obviously isn't true. To me, RE Zero is the bastard child as far as the true RE franchise goes (not counting light gun games/or online oddities)
Sure it doesn't play like the older games, and it much more action-oriented and less adventure/Puzzle based. But somehow, they managed to make it still FEEL like Resident Evil. You get the RE vibe as soon as you start playing and it never feels like its not a RE game. I think that was their greatest accomplishment with RE4.
I think RE5 is going to feel like less of a RE game than 4, by a long shot. Without Mikami around I just don't think they can make that magic, as much as that sucks. I still miss the old-school RE gameplay myself. I'd love a new game on the level of Code Veronica.
!!!SEPTEMBER GAME RELEASES!!!
Well, September is here. This is typically the start of the fall games rush that we get every year, which climaxes in October and November. Unless we have a crazy year like last year where August gets killers like Bioshock and Metroid Corruption. Think of September as just a little bit of pre-juice....
Dates are subject to change, if not changed already:
9-1: Mercenaries 2, PS3, 360, PC, PS2 (ugh....why no Wii version instead?)
Supposedly its a bit disappointing, and not quite as impressive as the 1st one in 2005 which was awesome.
9-16: Harvest Moon TOT, Wii
Most likely all set with this one.
9-16: SW The Force Unleashed, PS3, 360, Wii
Probably wait for the bargain bin. This competes with Too Human for biggest disappointment and most overhyped.
9-22: de BLOB!, Wii
Finally, another Wii game that seems like a true Wii game. Hopefully its good.
9-22: SimCity Creator, Wii
Hmmmm, not sure. Nice box though.
9-22: Warioland Shake Yo Ass, Wii
Looks like some old-school fun.
9-23: Brothers in Arms Wii
Is this REALLY out this month? I havent heard shit. Bad feeling about this....
9-23: Samba Amigo, Wii
Gearbox Software have 2 games releasing on Wii the same day? WTF?
9-23: Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway, PS3, 360
THE SAME DAY??!!!
9-9: NHL09, PS3, 360
More topnotch hockey from EA. Surprised 2k beat them to the Wii with this sport.
9-16: PURE, PS3, 360
ATV OFFROAD FURY HD. Hopefully the soundtrack is as good.
9-30: Legendary, PS3, 360
Great, or just another average shooter?
9-30: Silent Hill Homecoming, PS3, 360
Can't wait. My most wanted game of the month.
CONCLUSION: Not the best or the worst September ever. Some big games, some probably disappointing games. Note the lack of any real major exclusives.....almost shocking.
I always felt that Resident Evil 4's goal was to reinvent the series. Basically instead of focusing on adventureing and finding herbs it focused more so on running away and killing zombies. I mean the game really made me feel like I was in a horror film. I couldn't "run away most of the time". The solution was to constantly run to different spots and shoot when I had the chance while looking around so that I could avoid zombies. I found this much more fufilling then the usual "OMG a ZOMBIE! Use shotgun! Crap it ran out let me run to a different map....keep doing it...again....again....YES A HERB! Now let me go back! Yes die zombies die!....oh crap some more I must run away!". I mean it was survival horror but in the sense that I had to run and find how to survive by healing myself as I flee from the zombies, with Resident Evil 4 it was survival horror as I had to figure out how to survive as I had to kill the zombies in front of me as well as figuring out how to kill them.
I can understand peoples complaints but seriously how many times do people want the same old same old. How many times is the game going to revolve around the same mechanics? How many times is a game going to have the same setting? If people don't except change then you essentially get games like Megaman or Tony Hawk. People just don't like change.

I'm actually kinda looking forward to Disaster. It's not shaping up too well though, then again all we've got are some crappy screens.
Just wait until next month Edge. It's going to be a BLOODBATH.
To add into the whole "Is Resident Evil 4 a Resident Evil game" debate, it's never really stayed to the true formula that makes an RE game, even during all the different stages and rethinks of development. Hell, even Capcom admitted during development that they wanted to stay away from being formulaic.
Granted, it doesn't feel like a traditional RE game, but I fucking loved RE4 more than any of the previous games, even if there was plenty of moments that pissed me off just as much as the previous RE games. And if a reboot is as good as RE4 was, why should we complain?
Done the updates fo now. Now I am going to play Brawl. Later
