Come to Austin for Pokkén Tournament Action
There's actually a big gaming tournament/convention coming up in Orlando this summer called CEO Gaming. It's actually a pretty big deal. One of the first sneak peaks of Pokken was done at it last year. My friends own a giant comic book shop, and they're hosting a preliminary tournament for it at their store, and I was considering entering for Pokken right up until this weekend. I got my ass completely handed to me. Definitely humbled me to what my true skill level is. So I'll be saving my $10 entry fee and spend it on crack or something.
XSEED announces 3DS game Corpse Party
Did anyone ever play the Corpse Party games on PSP or Vita (I'm assuming it went to Vita but I could be wrong). It looked like something I'd be interested it, but it was released long after the PSP was pretty much considered dead, and I had sold mine off at that point.
Not sure, but make sure you read a FAQ of how to even enable the DLC in game. It isn't like most games where you go through it via menu, you have to do it in-game and it's very cryptic to say the least.
One of the site's forefathers.
I feel the same about the NX. Fuck them both. RIP console gaming etc. Xbox One is the secret best console this gen etc.
Not sure if kidding, but I agree anyway. XB One has been great since I got it, lots more original IP. I like my Wii U a fair bit too, Splatoon and MKart8 are great, I just have the time to play endless games.
Speaking of, I played Rocket league the other day for the sole purpose of gettign a screenshot for a review I did, and got stuck there for 3 matches. That game is so awesome.
And, on NX. Let's at least pause to see what it is before we decree it the Wii 1.75. Yeah, the Wii U was a simple iteration, maybe NX will be a leap forward. One can only hope.
I think it's unfair to refer to the upcomming NX as Wii1.75. We should at least stick to the internet-wide common practice of referring to it in terms of how many GC's ducttaped together it represents. So please, don't say Wii1.75, say GC 7.48.
Day-um.
That brings me back.
If Nintendo had a better plan with Wii U, it could have been much better than it was. For what the console's specs are, they should have never in a million years assumed 3rd-party support, which they obviously did because they sure didn't go out of their way to beef up 1st and 2nd party output. And that would have been a better strategy....the N64 plan of relying solely on 1st/2nd party games....a handful of incredible games each year. And a good variety, a platformer, an rpg, a shooter etc. Its all about knowing your hardware and plannig a realistic strategy.
I don't think they ever really had a strategy for Wii U...like they were confused what the hell to do. There's no way they could be dumb enough to assume a console just a nudge up from 360 was going to aquire years of amazing 3rd-party support. But, their software strategy sure made it seem like that's what they thought.
Your blogs are still on the corpse of 1up...I found them last night.
So no one checked out the story I marked in black yesterday
Shame.
GAF NX rumour:
10k deleted the tweet after people here could not recognize that it was a rumor from just one source that he could not corrobate yet compared to the information he posted on NeoGAF which was confirmed with multiple sources.
The rumor he heard is that the gamepad does indeed have a screen and is able to connect with the console via remote from anywhere. It's not a fully functional handheld but you can take it with you and play your games from with any WiFi connection.
EDIT:
This^ also meshes with what the Wall Street Journal said before:
The exact shape of the NX hardware isn't yet clear. People familiar with the development plans said Nintendo would likely include both a console and at least one mobile unit that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use. They also said Nintendo would aim to put industry-leading chips in the NX devices, after criticism that the Wii U's capabilities didn't match those of competitors.
Also:

What we have to remember is that the point of NX having higher specs is so that it can natively and easily accept current gen ports. Most devs cannot be bothered to alter and recode their multiplat game for Wii U so that is why - along with commercial reasons - that Wii U doesn't have those games.
NXs' beefier specs enables the system to host a slew of new games that were unaccesible on Wii U so there is a real need for the upgrade. If it can natively support UE4 and the new Frostbite engine that's already a huge plus. Just from the perspective of devs who are already using two similar platforms with AMD CPU + GPU combos, they want a magic button to super easily port games over. The days of exotic hardware are over. From the rumours from multiple sources, NX is gaming focused and super easy to port to and someone even said it was the easiest development environment they'd ever seen and it ran current gen games will minimal effort for the ports.
A PS4K's main purpose is to run movies in 4k and to upscale games into 4K - because Sony as a TV maker wants to sell its new 4k TVs. And because VR needs more power than the stardard PS4 can handle. So that means getting PS4k and PSVR which combined is going to be expensive.
Devs will use it to run 1080p games instead and use the extra resources for better performance in new games, but the bog standard PS4 will still run those same games. Wii U will never run NX games.
EDIT:
As a side note, if MS and Sony were to kickstart a new gen in say 2018, presumably that is where Nintendo's new SCD - Supplemental Computing Device patent comes into effect. A modular device that adds additional power to the main unit. Essentially an upgradable console unit. How it would work and how much it would cost is key.
EDIT 2:

This is awesome^
Wow! I love those thoughts by Aonuma. Amazing that they were so reluctant to make a realistic Zelda when they've always received a great reception from those games.
"That’s when I decided that if we didn’t have an effective and immediate solution, the only thing we could do was to give the healthy North American market the Zelda that they wanted"
That's the thing, Nintendo is always trying too hard to do different things, when sometimes they just need to do this^
I remember Skyward Sword took ages to develop because they couldn't nail down an art style. It shouldn't take that long. Wish Nintendo would have a conceptual team working while the production team did the grunt work and get the Zelda production rolling more smoothly so we didn't have to wait 4-5 years for a new one.
Good article:
Nintendolife gathers up all NX rumours in one article
Reminded me of stuff I'd forgotten about like the EA rumors from Feb.
In other news......
We can all relax as there will be four Avatar sequels, not just three
That's true. There is a passage in Darkroot Basin where you kill the Hydra on the wall next to where the Golden Golem appears.
