You joke but as I pointed out months ago, the shape is ideal for slotting into some kind of head mounted cradle for instant VR.
An all in one handheld/console hybrid, that could do also do easy and free VR?
Might even be 3D like 3DS according to the patent.
For people worried about covering the screen with their hands, my idea is that the field of view, FOV is the center part which matches what you would see on your normal rectangular TV screen, with other consoles. Anything else would show you extra information like the difference between watching a 4:3 tv and 16:9 tv. Imagine the camera pulled out just a little bit backwards.
I hope that is not going to be the actual NX controller.
This is what a screen renders for VR:
So the oval screen isn't to accomodate FOV for VR as a rectangular screen woudl do just fine, although I admit you could fit the above in the section between the analogue sticks. I googled what the maximum refresh rate is on mobile screens, as you apparently need 120Hz to stop people from vomiting. Turns out that 120Hz mobile screens do exist and have been shown as early as mid 2014, so it could be possible.
On the other hand, how will you be controlling the VR experience with the main controller stuck to the front of your face? It just doesn't make sense GG.
If I had to guess, I'd say we'll be getting something more down the line of a GC controller, with a clamshell design screen in the middle part. The screen could be organic in shape, allowing it to sit right next to the analogue sticks, thus allowing for easy access with your thumbs, while still featuring regular buttons. Also, with the sharp screens, there is near to no bezzel, meaning that the clamshel could fold out to form one uninterupred screen, instead of having 2 seperate screens as is the case with the DS/3DS.
Bad?
A single screen can display multiple viewpoints, especially if said cradle boxed your eyes separatley. Wii and Wii U have supplemental controllers as well as being compatible with older controllers too. This oval design could also slot into a cradle with handles for more comfortable home play and slip out of the cradle when it becomes a portable.

BOOBIES ! ! !
Did someone say, "BOOBIES"?
Pokken Tournament is excellent. First Pokemon game I've ever played actually...lol Made it past the first round, kicked all kinds of ass.
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is also quite good. Great character designs. Final Fantasy Type Zero is another great game I'm balls deep into at the moment. This one has a bit of a Persona vibe to it. I dig.
Tropical Freeze is wonderful. Probably the best selling, most enjoyed game people love to moan about.

PS4k coming. New updated specs PS4 so it can run 4K. Rumor at the moment but pretty much real.
You got this? And not Splatoon?
You're playing this and not XCX?
I'm with GG on this one. WTF.
Now it's £20 I might just get it.
I saw the story on this. The only thing I can think of is that either Microsoft or Sony got wind, of the one of the others plans to release a beefed up system mid-gen and decided that they would have to do the same to compete.
There's a Telltale Batman game coming this summer. Ther will be more info coming in about an hour.
The team at Telltale hit the stage in Austin at the SXSW Gaming Expo today along with Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, to come out of hiding and talk details about the upcoming series based on BATMAN for the very first time. While development has been moving along swiftly over the last year, production on in-game visuals for all of Telltale’s series always tends to come together closer to launch, as the writers and designers spend their time focusing very heavily on the story and script first and foremost.

It’s still too soon to show any scenes from the game, but the team was happy to confirm that players can expect to see it closer to its upcoming premiere which is slated for THIS SUMMER! Additional details gathered from the panel were as follows:
I'm really looking forward to getting Pokken Tournament myself. It'll have to wait about a week though since I've got a birthday coming up and will likely get it as a gift.
Happy Frigay, Pokken edition.
