Eurogamer Fast Racing Neo review "Fast Racing Neo offers an exhilarating impression of the game to which it pays such loving tribute.'
I was actually let down by their review. Usually I'm pretty satisfied with their reviews, but this 'Simon' who reviewed it clearly didn't know much about the game or it's developers. He lamented how certain extra content wasn't added due to budget restrictions (it's an indy game made by 5 people) and said that the shade-shifting mechanic was hitched from Ikaruga, while it's a refinement of the original game, which I don't think he played. And seems like I wasn't alone in this.
Out of the reviews I read, I think only NintendoLife made extensive references and appeared to have had experience with the original Wiiware title. The others just compared it to F-Zero.
I am quite interested in it. Haven't played a game of this type since the PSP wipeout titles.

Yes they kept mentioning lack of budget and I kept thinking of the 5 people who make the game. There's literally like 1 programmer who also does the music etc.
I've actually completed the one above. The combination of Pokemon Special Abilities + Larger Numbers on some of the rows and columns made it do-able... Trust me when I say there are larger ones that are ruthless!!
I would download Pokemon Picross right now but unfortunately I'm too drunk to get off my coach and look for the 3DS. Fortunately I have Prune on my phone.
Also PES is free on PS4, if you have not downloaded it, give it a go, I had very favorable first impressions.
I gave it a listen a couple of days ago. Enjoyed your indepth look at the library of Tale of Tales. Sunset was already on my radar, perhaps I'll give it a whirl once I recieve my Steam Link and can enjoy my Steam catalogue of games from the comfort of my living room. Didn't realize that the dev was having troubl financially. Kind of sucks for them to put in the effort to go more mainstream without any succes. Then again, with the kinds of games they make, they should have come prepared for commecial failures.
Yes, if you decide to be avante garde you have to take the pay that comes with it, your observation is entirely valid. If you want to strike a new tone, then you should realise that the expresion, in and of itself has to be the value you draw from the experience (much like our podcast).
From a "trainwreck" point of view I think that every thoughtful gamer should give Sunset a try, just so they can have an opinion of it, and like I said in the show, it's one of those games that lingers in your thoughts when you are away from it.
Fast Racing Neo made a strong impression right off the bat, and is easily one of my favorite games this year. It's fast, it's responsive, it has a compelling color-switching mechanic, and Hero Mode provides a stupidly fast-paced challenge that's going to last me quite some time. I have very little bad to say about this game beside the fact that the resolution dips in split-screen. When that's the worst you can say about a game, it's pretty darn impressive. 9/10
The Wii U has been an excellent platform for download-only 'Indie' titles, but few have been able to stand toe-to-toe with Nintendo's first-party offerings. FAST Racing NEO is one of those few. Its gorgeous graphics, incredible sense of speed and steep challenge make for a unique racing game on the system. If you love racing games - and maybe even if you don't but are willing to try - be sure to pick this up. We don't think you'll be disappointed. 9/10
This much is characteristic of many racing games. In Neo, however, a momentary lapse in concentration can undermine an otherwise heroic tour. Racing games rarely deal in such extremes, offering rubber-banding and other tricks to offer a chance to restore your position and pride. Here you, must live with your mistakes. For many, such pitfalls may prove too deep. At its best, however - when you're launching from a colour-coded ramp high over a bridge, before landing metres in front of a rival - Fast Racing Neo offers an exhilarating impression of the game to which it pays such loving tribute. The Wii U already has one of the best racers of this generation and now it has yet another with FAST Racing Neo. Taking notes from other futuristic racers, the gameplay is rather simple, while still feeling unique with the phase system. Though the steep difficulty may make it less accessible to some gamers, FAST Racing Neo looks fantastic and performs very well in action, making this one game to not let race past you. 4/5
FAST Racing Neo's core gameplay is fast, responsive, and delightfully skill-based, the courses are all well-designed, and the graphics and frame rate are fantastic. But fact that it's so polished and so darn fun overall just makes its faults all the more regrettable: no options online, no incentive to do most of the modes, and no ability to save time trial ghosts. In spite of that, for the price, I can confidently recommend FAST Racing Neo to fans of the genre. It might not quite be enough to replace F-Zero, but it's surprisingly close. No Score
In Short: It certainly looks the part, but although this never plays quite as well as F-Zero GX it’s close enough that most fans will forgive its lack of refinement. 7/10
It’s not quite the same as a new F-Zero, but Fast Racing Neo is the next best thing. It’s slick, fast, and fun, and while a bit lightweight in terms of tracks and vehicles (it’s also only $14.99), it’s the best futuristic racing game outside of the big two. Fast Racing Neo won’t make you forget about Wipeout, but it will help you cope with the loss. No Score
I cannot recommend it enough. Fans of those types of racing games will be in awe of what Shin’en has accomplished here. I know it is cliché to say, but please give this team the rights to make a new F-Zero game. Fast Racing NEO is the closest and best thing to happen to the genre in years. This is one game not to sleep on. 8.5/10
Technically impressive, many controller and off tv play, many contents both single and multiplayer, good handling of vehicles and colors mechanics. This, with a good sound and artistic supervision give us the best Shin'en game so far. 8.5/10
The team over at Shin'en have crafted a fast and futuristic racing title in the vein of F-zero and Wipeout. In fact I would go as far as to say that Fast Racing NEO is definitely a nod or a homage to those past racing giants. Even still, Fast Racing NEO has it's own set of features and tricks that make it stand out on it's one, from the beautiful and attractive backgrounds that will ultimately make you crash if you pay attention to them instead of the track, to a mechanic that rewards players that have split second reflexes. With the addition of multiplayer options as well as a smooth 60 frames per second, makes this easily of the better Wii U racing out there, maybe even a little better than a certain racer that features a certain plumber. 8.8/10
It's early for me, yet I just had my "THAT WAS FUCKING COOL!" moment of the day. I'm playing Fallout 4 and I was being chased by a squad of Super Mutants. One of which was a Suicider. They've killed me numerous times by grenades, explosions, etc. Just ran from them once again when I had a quick thought... Spun around used VATS to target the arm of the Suicider that was carrying the explosive he detonates when he gets near you...
BOOM!
He explodes in an incredibly satisfying mini-nuke explosion, taking his squad out with him!!

AWESOME!
Love stuff like this, it's why it's better than witcher 3 for me. Something like that can never happen in witcher. Nothing to do with you, gaf is going crazy against fallout and loves witcher.

HEY BEAR ! ! !
How have you been?! Been very quiet for the last few months!!
How's your shoulder? How have you been feeling?!
Here's something Bugsie and maybe Robio will find interesting:
Traditional Picross games typically limit the grid size to 15x15...
Here's one from Pokemon Picross:
Some of these puzzles are TOUGH ! ! !

SPOILER ALERT:
WAIT A SECOND ! ! ! THIS IS ---REALLY--- THE BOX ART FOR THE JAPANESE VERSION ? ! ?
So. They'll make box art like that, but they'll censor a butt-slap?
...baffling.
Yeah that's pretty lame of them to remove the butt-slap. Pretty sweet box art though.
Busy week for me. BUSY. Just checked our download traffic for Episode 78, one of our best ever. Inexplicable.

I really want to play Fast Racing NEO, but I have still to play:
Cruel fate! Although I'll probably let FRN jump the queue as I really do enjoy a good arcade racer.
Making Advance Wars serious killed it for me. And probably killed the series.
