MCV: Has Nintendo's Wii U turned a corner?
There are a lot of conversations going on about what is coming next year. Splatoon is key, Captain Toad is one I’m looking forward to, and of course Zelda. mcvuk.com gamingeek
I still need to finish Skyward Sword myself in fact I have a few Wii games to play. I kind of stopped playing the Wii and planned to play them on the Wii U when I got one. Well I now have one so.......
Does the Wii U make much improvements to playing Wii games on an HDTV?
Games I have to play are:
Metroid Trilogy
Metroid Other M
Skyward Sword
The Last Story
Sin & Punishment Star Successor
Twilight looks pretty sharp for one of the ealiest Wii games.
I do have Twilight Princess and already played through that. That is my favourite Zelda game btw, it's like OoT except well bigger. I might throw it in the Wii U to check it out again for a bit.
Twilight Princess is one of only three Zelda games that I could bring myself to actually finish, right behind Zelda 1 and WW. Granted, it took me 3 years to finish it, but the fact that I did must say something good about it.

They do tend to look a little cleaner than they did on the Wii, but its not like an HD version or anything.
You should play The Last Story Arch, its really great stuff. Its also not that long for an RPG, you can finish it quick.
Twilight Princess is excellent. Like Travo says it starts up slowly. First two dungeons are pretty forgettable. The third is decent. Once you get to the forth prepare yourself for one amazing experience after another. They're among the best if not the best the series has ever seen.
Ok so I just completed chapter 2 in The Evil Within. My thoughts so far.
Its great playing two legitimate horror games back to back for the first time in ages. Last time I remember doing that was Dino Crisis & Nemesis in 1999.
The opening just throws gore at you in spades....not for the weak or faint of heart.
It feels like the gameplay of RE4 mixed with a more Silent Hillish story.
Though its very influenced by RE4, the character movement and camera feel a bit sluggish to me. Could be smoother.
Not a fan of the letterbox mode, I like using my entire screen. But I can deal with it.
Like the option to custom quick swap keys to the d-pad.
graphically it doesn't match up to Alien, but it looks good and has a nice style about it.
Stealth kills are very satisfying.
Chapter 2 is really cool. It feels like a total homage to Resident Evil 4. That's my impressions so far...I've already figured out some of the badass weapons and whatnot that I will be getting in the coming chapters. Gotta play more.
I really want to like this system, but damn if Sony doesn't go out of there way to continually make it look worse and worse. Why is it impossible for this company to do more than one thing right at a time?
Good question. Probably because they are doing too much. They need to cut off the money losing divisions and focus on what they are doing well at.

I should realy play through this game again. The whole thing just seemed very forgettable to me. I remember more of WW than I do of TP.

I am so conflicted. The fact that you have the Last Story, but not Xenoblade in your list is a sin punishable by death. But you do have Sin and Punishment in your list.
I shall let you live, for now!
Wait you bought Sin and Punishment when the price collapsed, did you not?! OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!
Ah I only had to take out the one guy and call the troops. I think I'm nearing the end and the missions are getting better but still, it's the same thing repeated again and again. The latest stealth segment is just like the first stealth segment you ever play. The fights are the same, the sailing battles are the same, the only thing which changes are the cutscenes. I feel like I'm caught in a never-ending time loop.

You'd be better off getting an SDTV off Ebay for $20 and play them on an original Wii. Otherwise, you'll get better picture quality playing the games on the Upad screen.

Those are just the games in my backlog that I havet yet to play through. I have Xenoblade and spent over 100 hours playing it and finishing it, I loved that game. I guess I could still play more of it because it does have a New Game + mode if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah I bought Sin & Punishment cheap. Hangs head in shame.

Forgot about playing them on the Upad screen, that could be good as well.

I tested it, the picture looks good on the gamepad screen, but Nintendo haven't released an update so you can actually use the Wii U pad button inputs. You have to use Wiimotes and Nunchuks. Which means you need somewhere to prop up the pad at eye level.

I have decided to play Heavy Rain (so far it is hilarious) and Borderlands 2 at the same time.
JASON! JASON!
What?

I remember the banality all too well.

The mall scene where you have to call for your son.

JASON! JASON! That still annoys me. Boring and annoying, that's my review of Heavy Rain. Bleh.
