Nintendo is doomed yet again!!
Serves them right. They should stop with these gimmicks and go back to their roots.
Hanafuda cards!!!
These would sell fo sho.
I still think it would have been interesting if Nintendo came out with a $400 console named Nintendo Entertainment System HD, matched Sony's specs, and made the controller an updated Gamecube pad like this:
I can't think of anything less interesting than there being two PS4s in the console race, one of which has a controller (albeit an excellent one) from over a decade ago.
Same here.
It's boring enough having two interchangeable consoles with just a handful of exclusive games each as an excuse.
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
Well instead you got a PS3.5.....how is that better?
Uh, PS3.5 with a gamepad.*
Tomb Raider Was Eventually.... Profitable
So the game was profitable in under a year? How many other industries would like to be able to produce a new product and have it turn a profit in 10 months? God this industry has no idea of what reality even is, does it?
Eventuallly...in under a year. They must have been shitting bricks for awhile there.
The same thing applies to bad thing. Stop being so melodramatic
Except Nintendo is not Sega stop comparing them. Nintendo is rich, they can ride it out. Killing the Wii U will be suicide. Why buy a Nintendo console ever again, if they might kill it prematurely again?
From Software "No thought" into next-gen Dark Souls II
Disappointing to say the least. I'm going to get pissed if I have to keep buying many more PS3 games while I steer at my PS4.
Iwata: We need a way to keep track of foreign trends "Sales in Japan were better than they were in the U.S. and Europe"
Keep track of foreign trends? How fucking hard is that you fucking moron?! You're a multi-national corporation!!!! You have employees that live in the US and Europe...there's your link to these foreign trends that you just can't figure out you fucking asshat!!!
Agreed
Again agreed
Well the streaming tech was new. But agreed that it was a poor hook. Difficult to explain to the public.
You memory is failing you about the 3ds. Yes we all thought it would be a success at its first showing, but then more information like the battery life, the prize and the launch games came to surface. The hype died down pretty quickly after that. Nintendo really got cocky with the 3ds. It it was a huge failure in the beginning. Many 3rd party's were cancelling their games because of poor sales. Just like we have now with the Wii-U. The DS was outselling it! But then Nintendo took drastic measure. It will not reach DS numbers, but it improved significantly. Can they do the same with the U? I think if they go all out they might get 20 million sold when all is said and done. But yeah, it is a pretty big failure.
And the Wii buble did not burst. Nintendo stopped making Wii games after 2010. Heck games like Just Dance still sold well after the supposed bubble burst. The casual market that Nintendo captured with the Wii did not move to the smartphones. The Wii was a party console, where the family plays games together. An experience that is just not possible with smartphones or tablets.
I still think that a Wii 2 would have done so much better. Just make the Wii more powerful and get more accurate wiimotes and be done with it! Easier to market too!
Yes and before that the Gamecube was historically bad. And before that the N64 and before that the SNES. And the U is in much better position than the Dreamcast. Again stop comparing Nintendo to Sega!
Fair enough, but that's what is also going to lead it into being a niche console...fancy expensive controller (that isn't always ideal) with a slightly underpowered console. A more powerful console with a Gamecube like controller would have given them more leeway.
Good point. But at the same time, with Nintendo consoles constantly dying out years before they get replaced (which even the ultra popular Wii did ) there's many people out there who consider that to be just as bad as releasing a new console early. If they ride Wii U out until the end of 2017 with nothing but a small trickle of 1st party games, its going to be tough for people to get excited about buying another Nintendo console.
It gives them time. Time to do proper market research and make a console that people actually want!
Nintendo's greatest strength is also their greatest weakness. Look at it this way. You are a 3rd party developer. You have two almost identical consoles. One is from Nintendo the other is from Sony. On nintendo's console you have competition from Nintendo's first party software. On Sony side you have nothing like that. Nintendo will always have this. At best they can hope that games will be ported over, but since the GC days developers did not believe their games would sell in Nintendo's ecosystem! It is an uphill battle. Do something wrong and they go back to Sony and Microsoft.
I think Iwata just kill the Wii U now, and then shift all of their games over to the PS4. They should also buy every person that bought a Wii U a free PS4, or a voucher for $400 in free Nintendo games for those of us that already own a PS4.
You want Pachter's job?!
I'd be far better at it.
Yes, saying idiotic things comes naturally for you!
