Yep, that's what I meant by animation.
As for the longer cycles that's why I'm glad MGS and Sleeping Dogs (and most likey GTAV) are all current gen consoles. It gives me a litlte hope that there will be a bigger technological leap. Of course it's probably a false hope.
One of the best Xbox exculsives that can't be had anywhere is the Trials HD series both those games are so simple yet so complex and so fun. You might even say they are beautiful looking too! One of the best games that Xbpx live has to offer. Xbox live makes it better you compare your scores with your frinds and always try and better them. In fact there are a lot of other games I do that with, XBL makes it seamless and easy, probably the main reason I keep paying for it. It's worth it too. Vader get Trials and Trials Evolution you will love them.
From the Ground Zero trailer, there was barely any gameplay. I watched 10 minutes of cutscene only to watch Snake crawl about in the mud for 60 seconds and that part actually didn't wow me at all. It was like the opening level of Chaos Theory with rain and lights and craggly rocks. Show me a daylight setting with a full environment, not these close crop character shots in cutscenes with a black background with rain and a storm in the background. The rest of Chaos Theory did not look anywhere as good as that opening level.
The character models in Ground Zero look very very good, when the gameplay started I was not that impressed.
MGS4 was mind blowing? I think you were wowed at every new MGS game unveling? 2, 3, 4 and now Ground Zero?
That gif up there does not illustrate your point very well, it's an empty car park with some rain and wet rocks. If the in game (gameplay) graphics of ground zero match the cutscene visuals, yeah it will be fantastic looking. But I'm not watching a movie, I'm playing a game and the gameplay clips, wet rocks and rain aside do not float my boat. I would wait for daylight where you cannot hide to see how good the visuals can be. Like this:
I called it. The Wii is rubbish for hardcore games, what did they expect from a bunch of soccer mums who only buy minigames?
Oh wait
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
Soccer mums ruined gaming for their children.
Great rock textures but let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Kameo was a launch game back in 2005 and it had fantastically detailed rocks too. I think the rain and lighting is deceptive, it makes a lot of in game graphics look good with the reflections and flares, it makes things pop more in 3D.
Basically what I read of GAF was similar thinking, in game most of what you saw in that ground zero video was wholy acheivable with a lower resolution as the geometry is not complex . The engine is probably optimised differently for cutscenes and may even be video or faked on current gen. If this game was so out there graphically it would not be a current gen game. Look at that Beyond Two Souls gif that is making the rounds. It's kinda weird when people are creaming their pants for The Last of Us or Beyond Two Souls visuals or this then complaining that it's time for next gen. Solely looking at the cutscene character model graphics, yeah, wow the character models in Ground Zero look fantastic. The gameplay enviroments, look great but not cream your pants great when looking at things in the rain and in the dark.
Also when I see this Ground Zero demo it reminds of MGS3 on 3DS. Remember how it looked one E3 compared to the next? Let's wait for daylight graphics running on an actual PS3/360 and let's see if the cutscenes are truly real time, if they are then alternative outfits will show up in cutscenes. At the moment you have RE5 or Arkham City games which pretend that their cutscenes are realtime when they are subtley enhanced over proper-in-game models and animation.
The Weekly Videogame News Forum has been renamed: GAF 2.0.
Exactly, ugh...
So, everything is shit?
Its MGS all cutscenes are real time, they do run a it better I think the models get more attention during them but it is all real time.. Whether or not this will be the finish product is a question as it has been said that even this demo maybe a test run. And yeah of course everything is achieveable with lower res, removing the rain and effects, etc. I want THAT, that video is the most impressive footage of any game I have ever seen.
OMG!! OMG!! I THINK I SAW A PIXEL OUT OF PLACE!! SCREEN-TEARING!! SCREEN-TEARING!! METAL GEAR GROUND ZEROES IS NOW OFFICIALLY THE WORST GAME EVAR ! ! ! ** Please! **
That's a pretty funny summary of what happens every day in System Wars. It's absolutely pathetic.
If it's a big difference between plattforms (Like in Bayonetta or fricking Lost Planet 2) I'd understand the ammounts of comments about the poor quality but this? It's one of the best looking games I've ever seen.
NO WAY, MAN! SONIC 2 IS WAAAY BETTER! U R SOOOO LAME! NEOGAF 2.0 MEMBERS UNITE! BAN THE SONIC-NOOB, INFIDEL ! ! !
