Nope, not here. It's a bin of absolute crap. It is unlike any system I have ever seen, to me it's like looking at a different game industry.

It's true, the ones I've seen in the UK are just the same.  It's just a bunch of "Imagine" type games which are knock-offs and even worse I imagine than those.  It's stuff I suspect doesn't get reviewed and stuff gamers/we mostly don't even know about

You are doing it wrong. I bought all those awesome niche games for cheap, but you need to go buy stuff from the internet. I suspect Bugsy does it all the time. Also I found plenty of deals if you look around, heck I even got Galaxy 2 for cheap on release date.

Nintendo has finally released a "Greatest Hits" line and those I can find in bargain bins, well most of them. I've never seen the games you mentioned though GG. Where's all the JRPG's for the DS, the Castlevania games for the DS, Nintendo games for the DS, many good third party games for the Wii, etc. It's not about trading games in or not, that affects the used market, it's about providing games later on for a cheaper price. Digging through the bargain bins here I can find tons of good games for the 360/PS3 for cheap but for Nintendo systems it's next to impossible unless it's Nintendo first party games for the Wii even Nintendo first party games for the DS I can't find for cheaper prices.

Not the stores I have been in most of my life. You guys are just talking bargain bins and not the used game section? I usually equate them as the same. In the used game section you can find all the good games.

They must print more copies of bigger budget games which then get discounted when they do not sell. With games like Castlevania DS instead of doing a massive throng of copies of a game then reducing the unsold stock they print a small number of copies, then if there is demand a second print run etc.

Yes, I have to buy most everything online by necessity.  I didn't always get them on the cheap, in fact most of the time I bought Wii 3rd party (or more niche 1st party) games upon launch to show support because every cretinous journalist couldn't wait to announce that the Wii was the graveyard for all 3rd party quality titles like Dead Space, Madworld ... and whatever else I don't know.  Most of them did get cheap further down the line (which always pisses me off but what can you do).  Nintendo games with very few exceptions (Punch Out, Metroid 3), I never saw under £30-£35 (I guess except the ones which have been re-released in that kind of "Player's Choice" range).

It was a bit odd with gamecube games.  I managed to get most of what I wanted for reasonable prices (£10-£20) either new or used, during the last two years of the life of the console.  With the release of the Wii, they all swiftly disappeared and the ones that surfaced from time to time were double the price they were before the Wii.  I think I have every NGC I want though with the exceptions of Baten Kaitos and Skies of Arcadia Legends

Yeah I get that some games get limited runs so finding them in bargain bins will be unlikely, there's a good number of 360/PS3 games you won't find in bargain bins because of the same reason but still the difference between Nintendo systems and the other two is absolutely staggering.

The section for Wii in any given store is normally something like this:

  • 100 casual games that look like they cost $5 to make
  • New Super Mario Bros Wii
  • Mario Kart
  • 30 more half assed games
  • Ooooh, Sin & Punishment!
  • Smash Bros Brawl
  • Another 25 shit games
  • Zelda Twilight Princess

That's generally what you can expect from the Wii section in any store not called Gamestop. Gamestop is usually slightly better....you may find a Resident Evil title thrown in there.

I can see what you mean.

Two unannounced 3rd party Wii U titles seen

Many people, including myself, are still very sceptical with the Wii U regarding what it can really do and the unique control methods that Nintendo has brought to the table. Indeed, Nintendo is always one to innovate the industry, just like it did with the Wii’s motion control and the DS’ touch screen capabilities, but the Wii U is something different – once again.

One big ‘controversial’ topic right now is about the graphical capabilities of the system. It will have an AMD based GPU and an IBM PowerPC CPU, and for the first time ever for Nintendo the console will support 1080p. But is there greater power in this system than what is currently available in the PS3 and 360, using technology that is now going on 6 years old?

According to my source, whom I will keep anonymous, who has actually had play time with the Wii U, yes it i
s. I have spoken with him many times previously and he told me, and even showed me drawings, of the 3DS XL way before it was announced and Nintendo were still prototyping it a year ago (yes, so soon after launch as some of you may be surprised to hear). At launch, of course, we won’t expect to see the best out of the system because developers can’t just get the max out of a system that they have had for little under 2 years; just look at the difference between Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (2007) and Uncharted 3 (2011). But the 2 titles that he has seen have been superb, he said, and they are both multiplatform games. The Wii U will boast a higher texture resolution that what we will see in these games compared to the PS3 and 360 versions, making it look much better.

But what are these games? Well, I don’t know as my source cannot tell me – but they are big 3rd party titles. One is a driving game, and the other is a FPS/3PS. As for the FPS/3PS game, it could mean a mixture of the 2 but I’m not entirely sure so I’ll leave it up to you to decide. I do not know when they will be announced, but Gamescom or the Tokyo Games Show may be likely candidates.

He also told me that Nintendo are aiming for a release date between October 21st and November 18th. These dates will probably look familiar – SEGA and D3 Publisher have both mentioned them in press releases. It’s not surprising that Nintendo wants to release the Wii U then, so close to the inevitable Christmas rush, just like the Wii all those years ago.

As for Nintendo’s own titles, they look good, according to my source, who said; “Nintendo’s experiences were like any pretty Nintendo game but in HD and super clear. Average graphics.” From looking at NintendoLand we could see that, as well as their games on the Wii. Some things just don’t change.

That’s all the information that I currently have, but if I manage to extract anything more then you know which website you should tune in to.

It was the same for GameCube when it was at a similar phase of its lifespan. GameStop would have one small shelf for the GameCube and it was always the same evergreen games, hardly discounted even when used. Occassionally one was fortunate enough to find a games like Odama or Cubivore.  Of course, the GC did not have the shovelware problem the Wii has.

I'm not just talking about the Wii though. Where's all the good DS games? Is there even a "Player's Choice" line for the DS? Sure the DS is on it's way out like the Wii but it's always been like this for the Nintendo systems even in their prime. I'm now starting to see 3DS games in bargain bins but like the other systems they're the crap games. Just once I'd like to go into the bargain bins and find some good DS games and hopefully some 3DS games. Going into any bargain bin hoping to find a quality game for a Nintendo sytems just seems like a futile effort.

I thinkh e's talking a different phenomena.  Yes, the first-party stuff stays high priced forever, but this is specifically bargain bins.  The bin of random crap at 19.99 or under.  These would be real titles for GCN, but Wii it's like, Imagine Soccer Coach and The Naked Brothers Band along with 20 other crap titles you've never heard of, along with the accessory packs nobody wanted from day 1.

I loved Shadows Of The Damned and Splatterhouse! You should get them.

Duke Nukem I kind of liked... don't judge me XD, but for 3 bucks it's definetely worth it.

Also, please tell me how is El Shaddai, I liked the demo a lot.

I took a video of the wii section at best buy. This is not the bargain bin, this is the main section (minus some nintendo choice games on another shelf). This is actually a good selection compared to what I have seen.

I botched the video so you will have to turn your head, sorry. Also if someone can embed it please do, I still have no Internet and my phone won't allow it.
