Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileF U C K ! ! ! ! ! !
Naked Chinese Man Attacks Cars in a Road Rampage
Kinda like a zombie attack with more penis and less face gnawing...
Two quick notes:
Heroes of Ruin is as VANILLA as a game can be! It's not bad by any means, but it's completely unoriginal. It makes Rainbow Moon look like Little King's Story by comparison. I am a sucker for games of this type and I would actually say it's worth it for a discounted price --JUST-- for the novelty of it on a handheld, but it's no MUST HAVE.
Generic!
Dyad, on the other hand, is COMPLETELY mesmerizing! If ever there was a game to test my seizure propensity, this would be it --BUT-- the "one more try, one more try, one more try" addictiveness of it is at full throttle, the simplicity of it makes it a game ANYONE can pick up and play, and the natural rhythm and flow of the game within the music and the colors... it's sooo worth it! Think Tempest meets Rez meets a Puzzle game... and you still won't get it! Totally unique!
Hypnotic!
Fez story. So they ship the game broken (resets 360 on start for some users, locks up repeatedly).
They post a patch to fix the problems and it corrupts peoples saves. MS pulls the patch.
Now they say something to the effect of "it costs too much to fix, we are not going to ever fix our game".
So now, in my opinion, Phil Fish is not just a narcissistic, rude, ethnocentric, indy developer. He is a narcissistic, rude, ethnocentric, GREEDY, indy developer.
"To the less-than-1% who are getting screwed, we sincerely apologize. We know this hurts you the most, because you’re the ones who put the most times into the game. And this breaks our hearts. We hope you dont think back on your time spent in FEZ as a total waste."
I feel the same way, the game is great but it's fairly buggy and it suffers from framerate issues (I'd understand that if it was Crysis, Final Fantasy XIII, Killzone 3, etc. but Fez is far from an amazing looking game). It's too bad that Phil Fish is such an unlikeable developer.
So there is a pic of the gaf meetup after the zelda concert. Someone posted it on gaf, luckly it seems like no one noticed cause posting a picture of yourself on gaf is extremely dangerous.
Fish: Japanese games suck
*releases a broken game
Iwata: (laughs)
I decided to fact-check the claim of how much it cost, and it seems to check out: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=462937
That number is insane, so while undecided, I'm not immediately outraged.
---
Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileThey had a chance to fix it for free and they fucked up. They had a choice to release it on Steam which allows you to patch it for free, but they decided to release it on Xbox Live. They knew what they were getting into. No matter from which side you look, it looks bad.
That is insane. Why? Huh? I dont even, why would MS do this?? Is this common?
Yeah, MS charges $40 grand a patch if I remember correctly. I think that's fair, it encourages publishes to really get their shit together the first time around and then not patch their games every two weeks etc... It's a punitive action, not an indication of actual cost for providing a service.
On Fish, I'm not outraged, it's just that I sick of these indy guys wanting it both ways, "Please Megacorp pick up our game for distribution and advertise it for us!" and "Oh we're just a small, independent company and Megacorp just wants to screw us little guys over".
For what it's worth I agree on both points. It's good for there to be some kind of quality control, and by hurting their profits seems the best way to ensure that. Seems similar in concept to Nintendo's WiiWare policy of not paying developpers until their game sold over a certain number.

^Yeah, corporations only respond to monetary interest. Indy Game corporations included.
Fight the power!
You only talking about Nintendo published games?
If so they sell well and people don't trade them in, they buy to keep.
If you're talking about great games on a Nintendo systems not published by Nintendo, I'm pretty sure you can find great Wii games in the bargain bins like Little Kings Story, Silent Hill, HOTD Overkill etc.
Nope, not here. It's a bin of absolute crap. It is unlike any system I have ever seen, to me it's like looking at a different game industry.
It's true, the ones I've seen in the UK are just the same. It's just a bunch of "Imagine" type games which are knock-offs and even worse I imagine than those. It's stuff I suspect doesn't get reviewed and stuff gamers/we mostly don't even know about
