^Traversal looks very Etrian. Battle looks cool though. Not a fan of the name though, not sure how I'll remember it.
Dying for vagina here....girls should not get periods.
I can't wait to start Binary Domain tonight. It's been a while since I've gone into a new IP completely cold, all I know about this game is what Foolz wrote in his review and has said in the podcast.
I think I liked it more than most, so prepare for disappointment?
"This weekend, everyone can be El Presidente! Tropico 4, easily one of the most charming and polished simulation games in recent memory, is free to play on Steam until Sunday at 1PM Pacific.
The game's enjoyable campaign is looooong, so if you like your taste of Tropican life and want to continue, the full game is going for $13.59. If you find yourself plowing through the campaign, the lengthy Modern Times expansion is also on sale for $14.99."
So... how 'bout them NPD's eh?
I think it proves that the 5 year lifecycle thing is true. Sure it's been slightly more than 5 years but the sales started dropping a while ago. There is fatigue in the market that is showing. All this 10 year lifecycle stuff is distracting - your console may be on the market for 10 years but you need to inject new hardware into the market before then.
Also:
Prototype 2 tops the US games chart in April, but sales aren't great
However, it was a very poor month for software sales, down considerably on April 2011. In fact, NPD's Anita Frazier revealed that "last April, the top seven titles outsold the top-selling title this year".
This is interesting, a few days ago an analyst said Xenoblade was set to be in the top 3 sales charts for NPD but it doesn't show up in the charts.
Eurogamer says that because Xenoblade is retail-exclusive that excludes it from NPD?
Bravely Default:
But the actual Playstation Division has lost cash too:
So they expect to lose 2 million sales from home consoles but make up 9 million extra portable sales - presumably from Vita for this fiscal year.
So Sakurai was spotted at Platinum games recentely. Some peeps have had a little wishful thinking and put this little piece together:
Miyamoto was asked about Star Fox two years ago:
Originally Posted by MCVUK: When GamesTM told Miyamoto that they’d love to see a new Starfox game for Wii, he replied: “Me too.”
He also previously said to Japanese games magazine Famitsu that the Wiimote could be used to control the Arwing in Starfox.
Hideki Kamiya tweeted soon after that about a new Star Fox game (@PG_kamiya):
Originally Posted by Hideki Kamiya: ”If they had the team that made Star Fox 64 make it...”
and
"I want Nintendo's staff to come to Platinum, stick guns at us and tell us 'You guys make a new Star Fox.'"
Now Sakurai is at Platinum Games for what reason? He jokes that he was trying to get a sneak peek of their E3 stuff when Inaba spotted him and threw him out.
Platinum Games is busy with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Anarchy Reigns (both 2012 releases) but we don't know what Kamiya is working on. His latest game Bayonetta was released over two and half years ago. Maybe he is designing/directing Wii U Star Fox in collaboration with Dylan Cuthbert's Q-Games (Star Fox Command and Star Fox 64 3D).
That is the wishful thinking.
Meanwhile a UK inside source at a UK website (we have never heard of) says that Retro is making a Wii U Starfox.
Moar interesting stuff, on GAF a well known forumer claims to have heard some inside info. People were talking about what DX equivalent Wii U would be. Somebody speculated it would be 9, he says it's more like DX11 capable.
"The GPU wasn't completed till late Dec./early Jan. The person who told me that, and summarizing his info, back in Dec. also said that now (past tense) that the GPU is near completion it was looking "more 2012". So I reiterate that was given to me in 2011.
*hands out complimentary salt packets with this information*
It definitely won't be DX-based. That's why "capable" was used."
So the GPU is looking "more 2012"? i.e more current and capable?
Here is some Beyond Good and Evil 2 stuff.
Italians, check it out and translate for us. This is a bit I got from babelfish:
"the quality of the textures is optimal and without POP up as in the versions for xbox 360 and ps3 because of the greater amount of top quality RAM (Ditto for the shaders), the water shaders cannot be estimated because incomplete. The particle effects are spectacular with ambient occlusion to the level of version PC. The light effects are to the level of version PC, reflection mapping and diffuse lighting shaders to the level of version PC ultra settings."
Fuck this is hard to translate I will try and clean up the mess I am looking at, I'm going to fix the grammar so it makes more sense:
"However the console is more than enough powerful than ps3 (in the true sense of the word) , try to imagine sony's PS3 with another screen with several times more resources hardware (several times the power?) and think of the final result"
"The true power of the wii U would only be seen if you could turn off the stream to the pad screen, but for the time being it is not technically possible - (with this devkit version?)
The generational difference of ram alone shows the difference, I have been convinced of this by the result in front of my very eyes."
"I have only said that it has effects ultra light and refractions to the level of version PC, not general the graphical section"
I want a Starfox game on 3DS. Oh wait ...

9 million portable sales? Is half of that expected to be PSP sales?
Remember I said 9 million extra portable sales compared to the past fiscal year.
This is the more helpful quote:
Sony expects there to be 16 million combined PSP and Vita sales this financial year (April 2012 - March 2013). The Ace Consulting analyst questioning Kaz Hirai reasoned that PSP would contribute roughly 6 million sales towards this - a generous estimate given the PSP's annual decline.
Therefore, the remaining 10 million sales - to reach the projected 16 million target - will have to be made up by PlayStation Vita.
Agreed.
What a GRUELING week this has been! Early mornings every morning, training and events planned all throughout the day, every day. Thank god for a few minutes of quiet gaming here and there. Radiant Historia during the day... Minecraft at night! Minecraft couldn't have come at a perfect time! It has an incredibly calming effect on me! I am planning on playing a bunch of THAT tonight --AND-- watching the second half of the Fringe season finale!
I can also be as bad as I want to be tonight, too, sooo... BBQ, Collard Greens, Beer, Ice-Cream... YOU NAME IT!
DRUNKEN, MINECRAFTING LEO SURE TO APPEAR CIRCA 10PM TONIGHT!
DRUNKEN, LANNISTER-HATING SOIAF LEO TO APPEAR TOMORROW NIGHT!
Woo!
I am about to have a breakfast beer or two and continue playing Binary Domain. Played the first chapter last night.
Beer does a body good.... pass it on.
SEGA to Focus on Digital/ Mobile
Oh Sega..... ooooooooh Sega..... what the hell.
That does make me wonder how much longer the mobile gaming sector will continue to be a boon for developers. I've read multiple articles over the last month about how the digital marketplace is starting to get overcrowded and it's getting tougher for titles to distinguish themselves. The whole marketplace is turning into the Wii's library circa 2008.
