Sup guys?
Been pretty depressed about gaming lately, all aspects of it, games journalism, games forums, developers, publishers but most of all the attitude of some gamers. I realised that there was an unbridgeable gap of opinion, that left me with a fatalist outlook, on participating on gaming boards.
Good news today, looks like early adopters of 3DS are getting 20 free VC games, including 10 Gameboy advance games including the likes of Yoshi's Island and Metroid Fusion. We also get them early and can then later download the full versions for free later too.
I always knew the 3DS price would drop before Christmas, so I'm not bothered as the launch retail price was significantly lower than the original RRP was anyway.
Interesting, please explain
I'd say welcome back but unless you're gone for 2 weeks or longer that's just a long run for coffee in my book.
Anyway I think Nintendo is handling this price drop as well as they could. The bonus games for current owners was pretty generous all things considered. They did not have to do that. I don't recall any hardware manufacturer making that big of a gesture. Not quite a win-win, but I don't think current owners can really complain that much. I'll be curious to see what Leo thinks since he's been so unhappy with the purchase lately.
I've always been taught that if you don't have anything nice to say yada yada.
It's nothing personal said against me and nothing personal I feel towards others, there's just this bad attitude that depresses me these days - and I feel it exists across all sections of gaming, journlism, development, gamers etc. I fundamentally disagree with a certain stubborness, arrogance and ignorance I've seen over the past couple of weeks across the whole gaming spectrum. It doesn't anger me, it just saddens me.
You were taught wrong. Come to the darkside and join the league of cynical assholes.
Most gamers are idiots. All games journalist are idiots, most developers are idiots. Pretty much the whole human race are idiots. It is what it is, you can feel bad about it, or you can think that all the idiots make you look good.
Hey guys
Wow, pretty big cut on the 3DS price. And funny how it's coming on August 12th, quite a coicidence as I am travelling to the US on the 11th. I would have got one for sure if it weren't for the retarded region lock. But I think I will still be tempted (though probably won't bite).
GG, as you know I've been away, and offline, for the last two weeks and a bit, so I have no idea what went on (here or elsewhere) online, so I can't really understand what it is you are referring to. Please if you can, be a bit more specific, for my benefit ... i'd appreciate it greatly.

This is quite funny. I was having a discussion not very long ago and while talking to someone I used as a preamble how "I came to terms with the fact that most people are idiots pretty early on". He was very shocked, but it's just a matter of fact. Though sometimes it is depressing, can't be helped, so I understand GG's sentiment. Though I don't know the specific events that triggered the feeling this time.

I don't want to go into specifics as it would just cause unneccesary shit, but as I said it's everything, a few things developers have said, a few idiotic editorials, lots of ignorant replies by gamers to those editorials, things that I read on GAF, things that were said here, a couple of issues I had with a thread I was trying to update, all sorts of stuff really. Like I said it's nothing personal, no one has offended me and I don't feel badly towards anyone, it's just depressing and I don't want to explain it further as it might unintentionally insult some people. I feel like scaling back my online presence.
Did you say: "Of course you are shocked that most people are idiots, because you are one of them", did you?
Also one human can be smart, two can do allright, but a bunch of them together and they become mindless sheep.
Welcome back GG. Couldn't an unbridgeable gap of opinion be applied to most things? You'll have to be scaling yourself back not just from online but from everyone...actually that doesn't sound too bad! Hopefully you and your opinions stick around.
Confirmed: PS Vita RAM cut by half to 256mb
This is something I've wondered about since Sony announced it. Could any developers who've been working on a Vita game have the game affected by this? Ultimately how does cutting the RAM in half affect the games and or system?
Here's the lowdown of free 3DS games for people who log onto the eShop before August 12th
- Nintendo is confirming that they will sell NES VC games on the eShop for 3DS. But they will not be released on Sept 1st.
- Instead, on Sept 1st they will be pushing out "early bird editions" of the free NES games for those who bought and registered their systems before the price drop. Only these systems will be able to download and play these NES games at that time.
- These versions sound like beta emulated versions. There will be no digital manuals included, and while you can switch the controls from player 1 to player 2 for certain games which allow for such play, there will be no cross system multiplayer supported at all.
- Eventually at a later date, complete versions will be released for actual sale on the eShop. When this happens, those with the "early bird editions" will be able to update to the full versions for free.
- For the GBA VC games, it gets even weirder. While there is no release date for those other than within 2011, Nintendo is outright saying that they currently have NO plans to ever sell such games on the eShop. This is something specially for early adopters as a reward, and are considered "not for sale" releases.
Free VC NES games for 3DS (from sept 1st):
Free VC gameboy advance games for (Nintendo Ambassadors) 3DS:
So basically if you already own a 3DS you connect to the 3DS shop before August 12th and register for this ambassador program. Later you get to download beta versions of 10 NES games which new owners can't, you then get the proper versions for free later to download.
For the GBA games you get 10 free and it sounds at the moment like the only way you get these gba games is if you are an early adopter as nintendo hasn't announced gba support for the eshop yet.
GG you have a wrong view what discussions are about. They are not about changing peoples viewpoints, if you go into discussion with that goal you will only get disappointed. People do not like to change their viewpoints, they are stubborn. No the point of discussion is to insult people in a sarcastic way, to make them feel bad. To ensure the first thing they think about when they wake up is your beautiful insults. To make people feel lesser about themselves, and therefore elevate your own ego to godhood. So spill it boy. Cry havoc and let slip the insults.
What you say is true
Those are really good GBA games though probably not much of an insentive to buy the console at an inflated price. But it's a nice gesture at least towards rewarding the loyalty of the eraly adopters

I don't go into a discussion to change viewpoints. I just assumed that we (as gamers/journalists/developers etc) were a curious people and that we were obsessed with reading about gaming because we wanted to learn and experiment and keep and open mind about things. Now I realise that most people just want to sound off, like standing on a crate in the middle of street and addressing an audience with a megaphone.
PM Yoda, he should be able to tell you that.
Screw that, I'm not a leper!!!! I DEMAND TO BE ANSWERED IN PUBLIC!!! YODA!!!! TELL ME ABOUT THE CUT IN RAM SO THAT I MAY HAVE ANOTHER REASON TO MAKE FUN OF THE VITA!!!
I did a search for tickets for the "book of mormon" show in new york to see if i could get to see it when i'm there in a couple of weeks. My search revealed that ticket prices range from $230 (with which they may probably let you stand in the foyer) to $700 (for the good seats). And this is apparently sold out every night? Are people completely crazy? Economic crisis my ass
