Some have said that maybe Nintendo America would want to do a Wii U Xenoblade release with tarted up graphics. Would that be acceptable? I think it might be a decent option, they could do it in HD resolution then maybe tart up some of the character models and a few textures here and there, maybe add touch screen support for menus or for use in the real time battles? From what I played of Monolith's Disaster day of crisis their games are ones that could do with a bigger budget and more powerful hardware. If Disaster didn't get reworked (because development was rocky) it could have been a pretty epic GTA style action game in a big RE4 type blockbuster game, set in a HD big, open city. Imagine if they made Xenoblade on PS3 or something? But then again the scale of the game might be in part due to wii development which is cheaper. Making a game that big in with HD assets would have been quite an expensive undertaking.
Anyway, this is what Japanese gamers think about the western campaign for a Xenoblade release.
In all this campaigning for these rpgs, everyone has forgotten about this.
Well GG Disaster is not really like anything Monolith ever made before...in fact that game shocked me coming from them. They are usually a very Squaresoft like developer (which isn't surprising considering they came from Square) who focuses on story-driven FF style RPG's like Xenoblade or Baten Kaitos.
I wouldn't have any problem with them releasing Xenoblade on the Wii 2 if it was a launch game. If I have to wait for it over a year after the system launches, however, I'd much rather just have the Wii version NOW. This game came out over a year ago in Japan...it could already be out in the USA and Europe right now.
Monolith are usually pretty good with graphics, but not in the league of Square's FF team or anything. Look at the Xeno games on PS2...they were a step below the FF games visually. Same for Xenogears on PS1. I think they may have had a tough time with Wii for some reason, as their Wii stuff didn't improve too much over Baten Kaitos on Gamecube...though the size of the worlds did.
Agree with steel about the US team
Also, Giovanni Dos Santos ... what a player? I don't understand how this guy is still struggling to find a good team

Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
I didn't....I want Disaster too.
Inconsistency at club level. No idea if he's still like that, though, and he always plays well for Mexico.
He's got a mentality issue. Just like Carlos Vela. Both players were arguably the stars of the 2005 U-17 World Cup team that ended up taking the championship. That brought them both under the spotlight when they were unprepared. Dos Santos was still on Barcelona's inferior teams, and Vela hadn't debuted in 1st Division here either. Vela got snagged by Arsenal, but then struggled to achieve consistent performances, save for a few scattered goals that showed the talent lying underneath. He still hasn't shown the right attitude after 6 years, and that has led to him being loaned to other teams.
Dos Santos showed so much promise in Barcelona's inferior teams that he was hailed as the next Ronaldinho. Unfortunately, he was the first one to believe that shit. The moment he started to get some minutes with the A team, he started hanging a bit too much around Ronaldinho, and drifting towards the nightlife and lack of commitment that in a world class player (like Ronaldinho himself, or Romario before him) can be somewhat tolerated. Not so much in an aspiring, unproven young man. He was unceremoniously dropped from the A team and started his pilgrimage through Europe, being bought by Tottenham and then loaned to teams like Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and more recently Racing de Santander in Spain. He seems to be more focused now, and the time spent in Spain has proven to be a valuable growth period, allowing him to contribute to a team without the pressure of being under the spotlight.
Steel knows his Futbol
Wasn't most of the Baten Kaitos games pre-rendered though? That might explain it, if they spent all of the GC era making pre-rendered stuff and not real time - they wouldn't have the experience to carry over to good looking Wii games.
This is what 3rd parties are for, like Grezzo. You pay a wodge of cash to some Ukrainians or something and get them to make assets for you. Hell, half of Silent Hill Shattered Memories was outsourced to the Chinese.
Just beat the Main Campaign. TOTALLY worth it!!
I can neither agree or disagree with this guy. Ultimately I am not interested in the game because of what he says. On the other hand as a reviewer, he sort of set the tone even before reviewing the game, no matter how good or not - he said it can't be worth it. Essentially the game was in a no win review situation for him, despite him saying that it was a ton of fun that he couldn't stop playing. From a reviewing point of view, I kinda disagree with the way he approached reviewing it and I feel the game should be judged on its own merit. If he wants to point out that it was free before, he definitely should - whether that should make the game a 6.5 or not......... eh, not sure about that.
Yes it was prerendered and Xenoblade looks awesome. The scale of the landscapes is phenomenal.
Read my last two sentences again and hang your head in shame.

The latest from IGN on Operation Rainfall:
Just thought I’d jump on here with an update – you’re not going to get a comment today, obviously. It’s the end of the business day and has been for a couple hours now. I’m about to head out in a few myself.
However…
Nintendo assures me a statement is coming. They generally don’t keep quiet like this unless they’re mulling over what to say or are approving through Japan. If they really don’t want to say anything, they’ll kick it aside pretty fast. Sometimes, however, they will take a day or two only to come back with something that really isn’t significant. (Sometimes they’ll do that for a simple ‘no comment’ though that’s a little rare.) It could be that they want to say something but Japan disagrees. It could be they’re debating exact wording. They’ve seen your passion though, so don’t discount that. I have to say this whole thing has been pretty remarkable. Even if nothing comes of it, the folks involved with Operation Rainfall have managed a pretty cool (and calm) feat here. It’s admirable to say the least.
So we’ll see. Like I said, don’t expect them to come out with everything you want to see. I think you’ve made an impression at the very least. They had already seen everything by the time I sent them an e-mail asking for comment.
I will tell you we’re importing the games here and if Nintendo stalls, says nothing of worth or denies the games to North America, it’s likely we’ll have a few things to say on IGN. I have an editorial rolling around in my head if they decide to not bring the games here. There is a serious question to be asked about how Nintendo expects to “summon” the core in 2012 if they won’t support them in 2011. These three games aren’t exactly a flood of support, and I doubt they’ll sell a ton, but it’s more of a gesture to the millions of fans who blindly invest in Nintendo, who believe in Nintendo rain or shine.
Anyway. I appreciate the enthusiasm but let’s not get too crazy here. This is not MEGATON!!! and I don’t want it to be that all over again. Just stay tuned. I’ll try to give you a warning on Twitter/MyIGN when I have the statement and will get it on the site as fast as I can.
GG the review is done by a girl. Her name is Audrey Drake, but with names like Hilary and Fran, I don't blame you for thinking this one is a guy also.

I was assume different missions meant cool objectives and stuff but so far alll missions are just training. I have done over 10 of them and am just now getting into normal mercs rules. I am sure it will be fun now that it's the mercies I am used to, it just doesn't leave much left if there are only 30 missions.
Buy only if you are a big fan.
