^Congrats. Does anyone know if Pandora's Tower is even any good? I know the other two would be worth getting, but PT looked fairly non-descript.
^I don't know
Here is the first hour of gameplay
Seems pretty cool, the music is awesome
Completed Black
The last room was a pain in the ass, there was no cover and everyone had either chainguns or rocket launchers. Bit of a limp ending, just walking through a corridor and having the credits roll. Good game overall, why no sequel? The graphics were great, the combat satisfying and the AI was allright if a little too accurate from a distance.
All it needed was some sprucing up in the presentation department i.e better storytelling and it needed to get rid of that crappy live acted cutscene interrogation. It could use more varied locations rather than all russia too. Still, throuroughly enjoyed it and I've got my eye on Bodycount to see if its similar.
Also kicked on Majora's Mask for shits and giggles - the GC collection disc which is crisper and clearer.
After playing Ocarina of Time 3D, wow I want them to do this game too. The main town area runs at 25 frames per second for godsake. Still, what little I played was awesome, love the characters and the bombers note system. I'm going to replay at some point, great game.
How many of you have seen this?
What did you think?
Certainly blows away anything that's come out in the USA on the Wii this year.
There's something coming out in the US on the Wii this year?
Majora's Mask was awesome, I remember it took me a long time just to get around to playing it though. It came out like the same day as Quake Arena on Dreamcast, so I picked them both up at the same time, and got so addicted to Quake that I didn't get around to Zelda for months. But once I did I loved it.
Seems halfway decent.
I'm not sure.
Just posting these for people who haven't seen them, I think travo asked once
Except for this one, looks hideous
They are from a PC game mod
It's pretty crazy. Need to rewatch it, and Kung Fu Hustle.
Divnich: "The Wii offered a completely different style of interactive entertainment versus the traditional consoles, which leads me to consider that the Wii was never a part of the "7th Generation" of consoles. I'd argue that very few consumers ever had to decide between an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Nintendo Wii; rather, it was an HD experience (Xbox 360 or PS3) vs. the Wii. Just looking at the top selling Wii games makes it clear that the Wii truly offered a differential experience, since 90% of those titles can only be experienced on the Wii.
"Now this is not to say that the Wii wasn't a 'core' platform, since any true core gamer owns a Wii in addition to at least one HD console [By which Divnich means to say that most core gamers can admit to enjoying a casual gaming experience, and it's likely one of the reasons why a lot of traditional gamers own a Wii (see the comments section) -- Ed.], but we have to admit the expectation of experience on the Wii is vastly different than what one would expect on the HD consoles.
"I would caution Nintendo to stray from labeling the Wii U as a platform that delivers a core experience as its primary function. It just doesn't need to compete with the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 when they've already carved out a rather large niche market for themselves.
"The problem with the Wii U is that the platform will offer the capability of delivering a traditional HD experience, and it may give publishers an 'easy out' from having to create a truly differential experience."
"My biggest fear is that third-party publishers will simply 'port' their PS3 and Xbox 360 library over to the Wii U, while adding minimal unique features to the Wii U version. Simply put, I don't think the core community will fall for it and no one can honestly say they would purchase Assassin's Creed III for the Wii U, when they've already built a strong loyalty to the series on another platform. If someone told me they own every console and have purchased every Assassin's Creed iteration, I can bet with a high degree of certainty they likely own all iterations for the same console.
"Third-party publishers underperformed on the Wii and it took them years to finally figure out that even though the vast majority of the core community owned a Wii, we didn't want a traditional core experience. The divergence in the technology created this disparity in desired experiences. The same is true for the iPhone.
This guy is better than Pachter, not as annoying and doesn't try to be some all knowing sage. He's usually more tempered with opinions too. I agree with him about the above, most HD gamers wont buy a wii U for 3rd party games with a few token improvements. It will be whether Nintendo deliver on the HD games front and the smattering of 3rd party games which do something different on it.
Anyone see this?
Decent but not great.
But yes, they do need to compete. If Nintendo's smart, they'll make Wii 2 the system that Wii should have been, and truly cater to everybody, both hardcore and casual. Because Sony and Microsoft have already begun doing just that. Which means if Nintendo, especially in America, continue to only go for the casual crowd, they will just lose marketshare.
This is exactly the time to go for the core gamers with Microsoft placing all bets on Kinect at the moment.
Great.... I finally get to experience European life and I still can't try the food. Or the beer. Or the women. Worst fucking vacation ever! Thanks NoA!!!
I do hope that some sites out there will anticipate that a lot of American gamers will want to import these games and start putting something together - like a special shipping package or something. Probably hoping for too much with that.
Really I think the only one I'm really looking forward to is Last Story. Xenoblade doesn't look bad and I have gotten more interested in the past few weeks, but that's still more of a maybe. But the main city in Last Story has blown my mind since I saw the first maps for it. Got to see that for myself. Not sure if I'll like the actual gameplay, but I need to see the city.
I just got done playing SSFIV with Leo for a bit. We were trying to test out the arcade edition content. I never downloaded mind you, but I did get the DLC update that in theory allowed me some access into Arcade Edition. The new characters get added to the select character board, though they're blacked out. The entire thing gives the impression that even though it may not be playable you could still play against someone who had upgraded to Arcade Edition. That wasn't the case however. Frankly I'm not sure what the update was for. It's just dumb and we'll leave it at that.
It kind of make me wonder what the hell is up with so many game companies this year. 2011 is half over, but I've already seen some truly bone headed decisions come out of so many of the big companies. Nintendo's 3DS launch, NoA not bringing over the jRPGs, Sony letting their guard down with the PSN debalacle, Capcom with the no save-over feature on RE: Mercenaries, and MS focusing so much on the Kinnect. That last one may not actually be stupid, but I still shake my head at the hardware. Then again, their E3 showing of the two guys playing Madden with Kinnect still makes my stomach cringe so it's probably fair.
If nothing else I'm pretty sure that when we look back at 2011, we'll remember this as the Year of the Dumbass.
Pretty Dumb, yeah. As far as I can tell, all that pack is, is an advertisement to purchase Arcade Edition... All it lets you do, apparently, is View Replays of the New Characters using Super Street Fighter IV.
Yeah.... 300 MB download to see an ad. Way to go Capcom...
I'd like to pick up SSFIV, but will wait until Capcom releases their final version. Is the Arcade Edition their final version?
