I don't care for 3DS redesigns, the launch model looks fine as it is really, not like the fat DS, so I'll just wait until it has a library I care about (which will probably be as soon as they get a couple of killer apps since i have a DS backlog to buy and play) and until it's comfortably affordable. if a new model comes along then great, that will help make the initial models cheaper faster. I don't even see how they can redesign it really, short of making an XL version as an option rather than an upgrade. Especially if it comes with an SD card rather than built-in memory that later models could upgrade in that case. And it will go online and what not by default from launch. So what will they upgrade outside minor aesthetic polish that will hardly warrant a new model name and could just be a stealth update to the form factor over time. I guess they could always improve the screens or battery like the PSP models did but as long as the current screen is good with no ghosting issues and things, it will be fine and not make you feel you got a gimped product. There will probably be third party high capacity batteries like there are for PSP too, or people will simply buy a spare to always have one charged when one is being used...

Woot, finished single player and hit HR40 online.

Made the Caedeus armor, which is shit but looks funky (mine's the first, male blademaster).

Beasties are starting to be pretty hard hitting at this rank online I failed an Uragaan fight just earlier after like half an hour of trying with another dude. Rocking Rathian + armor for now, which isn't so great either but at least has high defense and a good amount of gem slots (although a few are wasted on nulifying its negative skills).

If GG was around he'd point out that the UK/EU always gets screwed with retail pricing as it compares to the US. The DSi currently sells in the UK for 112 GBP, which is $175 USD. In the US DSi's are $140 -- so there's $35 less -- that would put the 3DS at the $349 mark in the US -- okay that's still bad.
Here is a more hopeful example:
Wii bundle US = $180 (amazon)

Oh yeah I forgot about Saint's Row and Red Faction. Both interest me but I never did get around to buying any of them yet. I've been looking at the Saint's Row Double pack for $30 though. I should try that. Also Itagaki's new dev team signed up with THQ so that right there is of huge interest to me.

Yeah I was factoring a bit of the price difference for the 3DS and was thinking of a $349 pricepoint for it here in North America. That's a touch too pricy for me for a handheld. I'm thinking more of a $299 price for me to bite.
