Assassin's Creed 2 all the way, baby. Finished all 6 assassin tombs and unlocked Altair's armor, which is badass. I'm at memory block 9 in Venice, and thus far have found all treasure and completed all side missions in Firenze, Monteriggioni, Tuscany, San Gimignano and Forli, with 3 of 4 Venice districts explored. As of now, I'm only missing those damn feathers.

Hey I liked Ninety Nine Nights. I 1000/1000 that game.

I've been playing Bayonetta. I really need to polish off Assassin's Creed soon before Mass Effect 2 comes out.

Ever since that Destructoid Top 50 list came out I've been thinking a lot about checking out Mother 3. A few weeks ago I found the translated version that's floating out there and I have to say I'm surprised at how much I've enjoyed it so far.

I was not a fan of Earthbound.  I tried to play through it a few times and never got past about 20 hours or so.  I always considered the game to be a fairly generic RPG at its core and goofy and quirky for its own sake rather than being that way to compliment the story.  So I went into Mother 3 with low expectations.

But this game is very different. There's one hell of a story here and it gets very sad and downright tragic at times, and there's a fantastic theme about happiness underlying everything. At first I would have thought a more mature story would conflict with all the quirkiness (i.e. saving your game through talking frogs and learning magic/PK from an immortal race of tranvestites), but that's not the case. In fact, both are enhanced are are better for it.

Anyway I put in a good 8 hours with the game this weekend and I plan on finishing it up now before I move onto Silent Hill.

I wanted so bad to like it but I've played it twice and it has not taken.

I'm playing what is in my sig.  Zelda, I have not touched in 5 days. Bored in the Ocean Temple for the third time and not very motivated to get back into it.

Playing Earth Defense Force 2017 with Mrs. Aspro. It's a fun game, reminds us of Rampage a lot.  Also helping her where needed in Uncharted 2.  Thinking about playing the original Mercenaries.

Tried RE5.  OMG, what the hell went wrong with this game?

Official Xbox 360 Magazine reviews

- Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360, Electronic Arts): 9,5
- Army Of Two : The 40th Day (Xbox 360, Electronic Arts): 8,0
- Darksiders (Xbox 360, THQ): 8,5
- Tony Hawk: Ride (Xbox 360, Activision): 5,0
- Dark Void (Xbox 360, Capcom): 6,5

The world's first Mass Effect 2 review is in via the pages of Official Xbox Magazine US, which awards the 360 and PC RPG an impressive 9.5.

Among the praises for the BioWare sequel are its "outstanding" combat and "memorable" characters, but surprisingly OXM criticises the game's main story for being a bit disappointing.

"For all the myriad improvements that make Mass Effect 2's visuals so appealing and its combat so exhilarating, it's ultimately the way it moves us that make it some memorable," it says.

Bayonetta (PS3) Gamecentral review
Bayonetta
Review by David Jenkins – We really hope this is going to be the last time we have to review the 360 and PS3 versions of a game separately.

Apparently Bayonetta was originally intended to be a 360 exclusive and developer Platinum Games had no real hand in the PS3 version, instead just handing over the assets to Sega.

Unfortunately that's all too obvious when you compare the two versions.

We should make it clear that despite being inarguably inferior to the 360 version this is still a very good game.

However, although the downgraded graphics wouldn't necessarily be obvious unless you compared the two the uneven frame rate is less forgivable.

And on top of that the already lengthy load times have become nigh unbearable, with even the inventory now taking several seconds to appear.

However, if you haven't seen the 360 version and are prepared for a lack of cutting edge graphics technology this still has a great deal to offer.

The latest game from Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Devil May Cry, this evolves the same basic gameplay to a state of near perfection.

Compared to this the original games now feel like mere preliminary sketches, preceding the true masterpiece.

Despite the variety of abilities at her command, controlling the impossibly lithe Bayonetta is surprisingly easy.

A button each for punch and kick allows access to a huge variety of moves, although it's strategy that count in battle not rote learning of combos.

Utilising a bullet time effect by dodging enemy blows is a prime tactic, constantly tempting you into danger with the promise of turning the tables.

The game quickly reveals additional layers - starting with torture attacks that range from slapping an enemy's backside to ripping apart bosses with a demonic parrot made of your hair.

Two pairs of weapons such as a sword, whip and heel-mounted guns can be switched in an instant and mid combo.

Or you can buy extra moves (including ones that turn you into a panther or crow), combat aids and power-ups.

The game's influences are many and obvious, including protracted homages to Sega classics such as OutRun, Super Hang-On and Space Harrier.

There are also more subtle nods to everything from God Hand and Okami to Super Mario Galaxy and Sonic.

They don't feel like steals though, more like an extra set of exotic ingredients used to flavour an already gloriously rich interactive recipe.

Although you'll occasionally grumble at the camera or lifeless backgrounds the game's only really substantial gameplay fault is the storytelling.

The dopey plot about a war between witches and angels makes for some gorgeously bizarre enemy designs but it generates cut scenes of such frequency you're almost reminded of Metal Gear.

The titular heroine always amuses though and the CGI action is amazing.

This is usually the point at which we have to insert a caveat about the game being impossibly hard in the manner of Ninja Gaiden or indeed Devil May Cry.

But actually it's not. Unusually for a Japanese action game of this type this doesn't want to punish you it just wants to entertain and surprise.

A goal it achieves with a cocksure level of competence that is surpassed only by Bayonetta herself.

IN SHORT: A shamefully shoddy port of the 360 version, but still a superbly designed action game underneath.

PROS: Superbly versatile combat that's both accessible and deep. Huge variety, great main character and fun homages.

CONS: A technical disaster area, with subpar graphics, slowdown and mammoth load times. Weak story and cut scenes.

SCORE: 8/10

Did the updates.

If you wonder why I post Gamecentral reviews in the comments, its because they dont have individual game pages. Their page changes daily with a new review but the same link address so if you dont see it one day you wont see it the next at the same link.

Good articles about the problems with WiiWare, DSiWare, and PSP minis.  Nintendo could probably do a little more like the article says.  Right now really all they do is offer a weekly newsletter with all the downloads and make their announcement at the beginning of the week.  And of course the demo program which hopefully will soon be reevaluated and expanded on.

But I've got to place more blame with the actual developers themselves.  They've got to do more to publicize their games.  It's not hard to make frequent twitter, blog, and youtube updates on the game.  And you can get a well written PR release done for you for about $150.  None of that is guaranteed to work of course, but I'm sure it's better than doing nothing more than just releasing the game into the world with nothing at all.

I agree with that. I think demos and actually making good games and pricing them appropiately would work too.

Let's not forget that there are plenty of journalist's that do not review Wiiware games.

Sadly, making good games doesn't necessarily work.  If you look at the top selling WiiWare titles, you've got games like the Reel Fishing Challenge and My Aquarium.  As an owner of the latter I can say that's not a real good game.

That's true.  I don't think its unfair to say that most gaming sites don't bother touching downloadable games of any kind since they feel there is the smallest amount of interest in those types of games than any other.  But I think developers and publishers could do more to generate their own buzz and force some of the bigger sites to review their games.  Games like Night Sky, Lost Winds, Swords & Soldiers manage to get developer interviews on sites like IGN.  Again, I think that if more developers made frequent updates on their games they could get some extra attention thrown their way.

Now you're distracting yourself by posting about Darksiders
