Same here. I need to get back to posting.
In fact, I'm working on a few right now.
I wish they would make the next MK a more serious fighting game. It's always been over-the-top, but the 3D MK games this gen and last have taken it waaaaay too far, IMO. Remove all of the stupidity, and make a real fighting game for a change.
Of course, this will never happen.
say hello to my first (well not really, but first in some time) ever console game import:
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
Eh, then you'd have a pretty boring market with a lot less variety IMO. Mortal Kombat has never really been serious. More complex maybe...
We need to get some pics of like the Judge from My Cousin Vinny, or the Phoenix Wright judge. That would be funny.
I think the link said that Infinite space had sold 300 thousand already, must be pre-orders or they mistook the 30'000 for 300'000.
If you get Staff of Kings, just play for an hour and unlock Fate of Atlantis and play that. Staff of Kings is suppossed to be mediocre by itself unfortunately. I will get it when its cheap because of Fate of Atlantis.
Hmmm, the main cause of Vaginal bleeding is your deformed penis, which you keep erractically trying to shove into random women.
PC crammed into an SNES. Do want.
Glad I rented this game. It's fun but highly repetitive. I probably wouldn't have gave it much of a second playthrough. Saying this what the fuck is up with reviewers and the motion controls? Do they even know how to play Wii games? The motion controls work perfectly fine. I haven't ran into any signs of lag or unresponses. Anyway this game controls far far better than Wii Sports Boxing. Really shows us how far motion controls have come (well in terms of titles with serious effort).

Anybody check out IGN's Games of Summer 2009 list?
My fucking word, the PS3 and 360 lists are almost EXACTLY the same, and both awful. Are those truly all there is on both of those platforms until late September?!
The Wii surprisingly has by far the best lineup highlighted by Conduit, Overlord, Resident Evil Archives, Little Kings Story, Metroid Prime Trilogy.
Guess its a good summer to go and pick up old games on the 360 and PS3, and finally pick up some new games on the Wii.
One of the site's forefathers.
Play fighting games!
So I did manage to find Ghostbusters for PS3, played for about 2 hours and its cool. I am playing a freaking Ghostbusters game, so that is super cool. The whole soundtrack from the films are in, the cast is excellent as usuall (well Murray seems to be overacting a bit, its almost more like his cartoon character, still funny), its awesome to fight Slimer and Stay Puff. In terms of license they nailed it.
The game itself is ok, the process to trap a ghost is a bit of a mess. You need to shoot it with the proton beam until its weak. It controls like every single game this gen (DIE twin stick movement DIE!!!!), so you just keep your beam on the ghost as its flys around the area. It will throw things at you, or charge, you have a very basic dodge move, I hardly use it. I just keep moving around that seems to work. After a while the ghost gets weak so you use the grab beam which makes you press L1 while pressing R2 to shoot, then press L2 to slam it around the room while still holding R2. Throw the trap and guide the ghost too it, hold it there until it gets sucked in. It takes too long and its not really that fun, cool to look at sure, and its like the movies but combet is meh. There are a lot more gun modes to unlock so this is the most basic. I assume it gets more interesting later. Good thing is that there is a ton of different ghosts so far.
Like the movies you can use the PKE to find the ghosts, you go into a first person mode and you follow the increasing signal to a ghost, or hidden artifact. Then you can use the PKE to scan the ghost, think the camera in Bioshock, same thing.
The other Ghostbusters are always around, they basically do what they do. Every once and a while one gets hurt and you need to get up to him to revive him. They will do the same for you. You dont really need to worry about them for the most part.
Graphics are good, I have noticed screen tearing on the PS3. You have seen the comparison shots with the 360 so you know how the PS3 version looks a bit worse. Its good graphics not great. Sound is fine but I can see the music getting old.
To be honest, I bet shooting with the wiimote would be WAY more fun than with this control scheme. Sadly that version is missing chunks of the game
Its good, I say 7 range game at the moment.
This is almost a strange position to be in as a Nintendo fan. I literally have to go back a decade to a time where Nintendo had a strong line up for an entire year. This is the first time where I'm in a position where I won't really be able to play catch up for games I missed. I'm just going to have to say, "oh well" to a couple I was curious about. Even going into 2010 Nintendo has some strong games announced. There's virtually no end in sight to the good games. It's like owning a PS2 all over again.
Lets not get too carried away. It is a great lineup though.
I hate that BB doesnt seem to carry any of the games I want to play on the Wii. There is no Deadly Creatures, no Madworld, no HOTD Overkill, no Sonic and the Black Knight (oh shut up, I'm curious). I assume they will get the Conduit, but it alsmot seems like if its not a big franchise they dont get it.
Anyone else check out that Dragon Quest IX article. 100 - 200 hours of gameplay? Scary, but I have no problem believing it. DQ VII took me about 125 hours to get through it from start to end, and I actually went through a second time for another 80 hours or so (didn't finish it that time). And DQ VIII was about a 65 to 75 hour game with the extra bonus dungeon (that really wasn't a bonus dungeon as much as it was a missing chapter of the game).
More importantly, this statement has gotten me very excited: originally conceived as an evolution of Dragon Quest III
That's awesome. DQ III was a masterpiece. I'd argue that it still holds up today (or at least the GBC remake does at any rate). It wasn't so much a game about great characters, but there was a lot of customization and a compelling plot that managed to keep you engaged as it slowly evolved into a bigger story. I have a feeling that this is going to end up being a Dragon Quest themed version of Oblivion. Lots of customization and very quest based moreso than anything else.
That's actually the very reason I dropped my Blockbuster unlimited rentals account. They almost never had anything that I wanted. They pretty much carry games that are either made by Nintendo or just mini-game crap. I even went back a day or two ago just to see if it would be worth my time to start up the account again and it was pretty much like this... 500 copies of Wii Music, Carnival Games, and Ghostbusters. . . and Ghostbusters was already rented. It may be time to pick up the Gamefly account again instead.
Thats got to hurt these games that are desperate for sales. Think about it, each BB may get like 2 copies of the game, there are about 10,000 stores nationwide, thats about 20k copies they could have shipped to BB. These games that need the sales are not getting them.
Very true. AND it would actually help Blockbuster because it's likely that even if they just got one or two in, they'd be rented on a fairly regular basis. They'd win back customers like me at any rate. But let's face it, Blockbuster is entirely controlled by monkeys that can barely wipe their ass. As a company they are struggling big-time, and probably won't be around in another 10 years. That's why they're coming up with new rental models every 6 months. They're grasping at whatever straws they can get.
The 360 has me very busy this Summer.
My definate purchases are:
- The King of Fighters XII
- Wolfenstein
- Fallout 3: Mothership Zeta & Point Lookout
- Gears of War 2: Dark Corners
- Marvel vs Capcom 2
- Shadow Complex
- TMNT: Turtles in Time
Good possibility of purchase:
- Guitar Hero 5
- Guitar Hero: Van Halen
At least a rental:
- Batman: Arkham Asylum
I was just going through the Wii's line up of games for the rest of the year and seeing if I was just full of crap and getting carried away, but I actually am hard pressed to think of a time when any console had a line up that I was this excited about.
The Must Play Games:
Little King Story
Dawn of Discovery
Wii Sports Resort
Cursed Mountain
Harvest Moon: Animal Parade
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
TMNT: Smash Up
Wii Fit Plus
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Rabbids Go Home
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
The Games I'm Considering (good reviews and/or extra spending money may be needed)
The Conduit
Secret Files: Tunguska (very promising point and click adventure)
Phantom Brave: We Meet Again
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Beatles: Rock Band
Dead Space Extraction
DJ Hero
Marvel Ultimatum 2 (if it has standard controls I'm buying it)
Mini Ninjas
Toy Story Mania (it's for the kids, I assure you)
Red Steel 2
The WiiWare
Tales of Monkey Island
Cave Story
Contra Rebirth
Max and the Magic Marker
The Rose Princess
Lost Winds II
Harvest Moon: Ranch Store
Mr. Driller World
The Night Game
Outside of the WiiWare that's almost 2 dozen games over the next 6 months. By the time December rolls around I'm either going to have a serious backlog or will have had to have made a lot of tough decisions.
Just based off the videos I've seen of it, I'm expecting great things from this game. It's shaping up to be the definitive single player comic book character video game (boy that's a mouth full). I guess the point being that it looks like it is raising the bar for comic book games and should even transend that label. I will be very disappointed if it ends up being just another run of the mill action game with a licensed character.
