When you have game like Castlevania that improves incrementally with each installment, especially when it is being compared to an installment that was a huge leap (I am not saying quantum leap, because in science it means the smallest possible change) you might want to look play the "quantum leap" installment.

In other words, SoTN might be bettered already by the newer installments, but you might not perceive it because the games improved a little by little.

Maybe, I was thinking about that last night, just wondering why I still feel that SOTN is the best. Maybe its console bias, no denying that SOTN is beautiful to look at and I dont have to play it in a stupid tiny screen.

The leap (dude you just blew my mind with that quantum leap thing, never knew that) obviously has to do with it. My memories are so strong, I remember almost everything about that game. Ask me about Circle of the Moon or Harmony and I dont remember shit, just that I played it.

But at the same time I start thinking about how pefect the pacing was, how  awesome the action was done and without the need of 5 billion new glyphs, cards, souls, etc. How memorable and fun the boss fights were. I think about the music, one of the best soundtracks ever. The design, the layout of the castle, the twist where you have an inverted castle.

No doubt the portable games have surpassed SOTN in certain ways but I am not sure they are the complete package that was SOTN. In the end what matters is which game do you have the most fun with, and for me I would still rather go back and play SOTN than any of the portable games.

Correct, but you should play SoTN after you finish OoE, to see how they stack up. I know that after playing Twilight Princess and then going back to Ocarina the difference are clear. TP controls better and has a better frame rate. The most shocking thing about OoT after going back is the frame rate. It's a bit choppy. You do not notice these things when you start playing the games in order of release, but if you replay, it can be clear as day.

Sometimes games make improvements that you do not really notice and appreciate until you play the earlier installments again. Play GoldenEye now after playing games like Halo for instance.

Oh I get that it makes improvements, your example of TP is correct but I still think OoT is the better game, well I guess I shouldn't say better, I should say I like it more. Thats a perfect example cause thats kind of how I feel about the CVs, they are all chasing SOTN but they cant match that perfect first storm, ok actually its not like that cause I like MM more than OoT. Whatever, do you get what I am saying, I dont even know what I am saying anymore. Nyaa

Yes, but that was because OoT was revolutionary, you got used to the formula and that's why you enjoyed OoT more. I agree OoT was the better game at its time that TP, but one-to-one TP is the technical better game. But it is not really fair to compare it, because TP could not exist without OoT. About Majora, MM was very unique once it came out. And no one was paying attention and it is therefore still unique. Majora get's better with time like an old wine. Seriously why have no other games copied the "Groundhog Day" mechanic

What GGD thread?

Zero Puncuation RE5 review. Basically he is saying he has higher standards than everyone cause people actually like RE5. He is going after Skylock and Angel.

Check out this beauty (talking to angel):

"Calm down. You're one of those people that can apparently holes big enough tosail battleships through. As far as I'm concerned, it reflects a lack of judgement. But if a guy can either walk into a restaurant and enjoy the food on offer, or dive into its dumpster and enjoy whatever he finds, I view that as worth noting (such a person is a guy I don't pay an attention to) but not really something to get upset about."

What a mess that is grammatically but he is basically telling angel that he is the type that enjoys trash just cause he enjoyed RE5. Oh and Carnage has NOT played RE5 only the demo.

LOL Yeah I know, pretty crazy eh. Yes because I love both garbage and good stuff. Sure I may like alot of games and perhaps some may not be everyone's cup of tea but he seriously needs a reality check on what actually constitutes as a game truly being "garbage".

No doubt that you will.  It was unique and really just something special.  The only flaw I can find in the game was the boss battles. First of all there aren't many.  And the battles themselves just didn't have "it."  You could tell that the devs really tried to make these boss battles something special, but really they ended up being pretty run-of-the-mill and rather boring.  But that's a total of maybe 20 minutes of the game.  Many many many hours of fun is still to be had.

Nope.

Maybe if you stopped buying all these new games, you'd have plenty for a DSi.
