Dammit, I just posted on the Wuhu thread. Couldn't agree more. This game has so many different fun, sports games. I can't get enough of ping pong, frisbee, wakeboarding and swordfighting. My wife and I had some pretty good matches earlier. I could see myself playing this in small amounts everyday like GG does with AC. The only one I do not care for is canoeing, unless it's MP.
Sounds really fun. I'm sad now that red steel 2 has been delayed till march 2010.
I dont feel the need to buy Sports resort at the moment. It looks better than Wii sports. But I have quite a few other games to put to bed first.
travo said:Ok, the more I play WSR, the more impressed I get. So many cool ideas thatjust aren't fleshed out enough. Sword showdown is fairly awesome, as well as frisbee golf. Eat your heart out, Rag! If developers were playing this game, I could imagine all of the lightbulbs coming on over their heads with cool ideas on how to use M+. Sword showdown could be used in a Kill Bill kind of game. You versus the Crazy 88's!
Yeah I'm right there with you. Nintendo has given every dev out there a fantastic blueprint on what could be done. I just hope we see a few of them follow through with it. There are too many good ideas in this game to not follow through.

If you haven't bought a game with MP yet this should be the one. I agree you don't need to pick it up immediately but you will enjoy it when you do. It's a fantastic time waster.
I picked up WSR earlier tonight, and I'm loving it! I'm really impressed with how precise and smooth the Motion+ works. So far, I've played:
Swordplay: Fantastic true 1:1 movement, and it's a ton of fun to play. Also, no lag that I can see. Goodbye waggle!
Wakeboarding: Great fun as well, but I still haven't quite got the hang of it yet.
Frisbee Dog: Surpisingly good! I suck at throwing a frisbee in real life, and the same holds true for this game too. I'm sure with some practice, I'll have a lot of fun with this simple yet engaging mode.
Archery: Wow, this game is addictive! Love the controls! I can see myself playing this for months to come.
Table Tennis Match: Now this is how I expected Wii Sports Tennis to play when I first got my Wii! Finally, the paddle does exactly what my gestures tell it to do! I'm going to be very addicted to this one for a long, long time.
Power Crusing Slalom: Nintendo, make Wave Race Wii NOW!!! It starts off a little slow at first, but once you start increasing the difficulty and unlocking new areas, it's a total blast to play!
Air Sports Island Flyover: Nintendo, make Pilotwings Wii now!!! So far, this is my favorite mode. Flying around Wuhu Island is sooo much fun! I got a hard-on the first time I nose-dived into the volcano! Seriously Nintendo, MAKE PILOTWINGS Wii NOW!!!
Canoeing Training Mode: It's pretty cool, but the controls get physically tiring fast. I had some fun in the training mode getting baby ducks to follow me to their mother. I haven't played much of this one yet, though. I still need to play the race modes.
Cycling: Also gets physically tiring fast; seriously, my arms hurt after just one race! It appears like it'll be quite fun once I get used to it.
I haven't played the other games yet. It's nearly 2AM, and I've been playing this game for four hours now. Whoa, I'm tired; I feel like I had a workout today!
As far as Miyamoto's Wuhu Island concept, I like it a lot so far. The island is a lot of fun to explore.
travo said:Here is a cool trick: Press 2 while selecting a character in Table Tennis and the game will be faster and go to 11 instead of 6. You can supposedly press 2 during the selct menu with other games for cool surprises.
Nice! I'll have to try that tomarrow.
More impressions:
Basketball 3-Point Contest: I suck at basketball. Even in this game, I suck at it. It does seem like it'll be a fun game, but I will really need to practice more, a lot more!
Air Sports Skydiving: Probably my least favorite event in the game. It's neat but very, very limited. I don't know if there's any additional gameplay modes to unlock for this, but it'll probably be my least played game. With more gameplay options--like being able to control your parachute, and landing--could've helped this mode out a lot.
Air Sports Dog Fight: I'm dissappointed that this game requires a minimum of 2 players. It would've been a lot of fun playing this against 3 other CPU controlled planes. I'm not even going to mention how cool it could've been if it had online play. I'm sure it's a lot of fun with mulitple players, though.
Frisbee Golf: Now this game is awesome! I never played Frisbee golf in real life, so this is a special treat for me. Too bad I still suck at throwing a Frisbee. Practice, practice, and more practice, I guess.
Golf 3-Hole: I figured out how to kinda cheat with the original Wii Sports Golf by playing it with just flicks of my wrist. However, this Motion+ version is kicking my ass! I actually had to stand up, and play it like a real golf game. In real life I always seem to slice my shots to the right, and the same holds true for this game too! Very cool. It's going to take a LOT of practice to get good at this one.
I only played the 3-Hole Golf mode, but there's also 9-Hole, and 18-Hole modes available. It'll probably take me a couple hours to play through the 18-Hole tournament. Who needs Tiger Woods Golf 10? Not me! At least not for a long, long while anyway.
Bowling Standard Game: I loved bowling on Wii Sports, and this Motion+ version is nearly identical, except that the controls are much, much more precise. As good as the original Bowling game was, this version trumps it easily.
Table Tennis Return Challenge: This is the second gameplay mode in Table Tennis, and it's even more fun to play than the regular Match. A Mii quickly hits balls to you in rapid succession, and you must return them. Eventually he'll place soda cans at various locations on his side of the table, and you are awarded extra points for hitting them. It's very fun, and very, very addictive!
Closing Thoughts: Before I bought this game, I was kinda worried that Wii Sports Resort would be a short game. However, the opposite is true here. This game is absolutely packed to the brim with gameplay goodness! As fun as the original Wii Sports was, WSR destroys it. Tons of gameplay modes, and tons of unlockables will make this game fun for months or even years to come.
EDIT: I just checked my Wii Message Board, and I have 14 messages all from WSR!
my only problem is that most times i'll be playing alone though that didn't stop me from enjoying wii sports so it may just be ok

That's one of the things that impressed me the most. This isn't just 12 games. There's multiple variations so there's at least double here. And amazingly enough most are pretty good.
More cool stuff:
There's a freaking whale in the ocean!
If you fly over the lighthouse you can hear morse code. It says, "Does anyone know morse code?"
If you fly over some houses you can hear the SMB theme.
I read that there are secret fruits in archery, but haven't discovered them yet.
Man, this game is so awesome, except for that damn tutorial video at the beginning of the game. Sometimes it plays automatically when I load up the game and there is no damn way to skip it! I think it has something to do with me using the SD card to play Monkey Island, then playing WSR. My solution was to move the Monkey Island save to the Wii. Let's hope it works.

That's really cool about the Morse Code. I knew what it was, but I didn't know what the message said . . . until now. Thanks!
Hmm, I've booted my copy up many times now, and I've only had that opening tutorial video play once.
Wow, I just got a Double 100-Pin Strike on the 100-Pin Bowling game!
I was a little on the fence about purchasing the game, but I got to say I'm enjoying the hell out of it. Ping-pong, the sword play games, archery, and wake boarding are all great. Really the only thing in the package that isn't much fun is canoeing. The Air Sports games are just awesome. Fly Over was particularly tough to put down. If this is what Pilot Wings could be like then I'm sold. First day purchase.
For the record, for those of you who are enjoying the Fly Over game I suggest you check out We Ski and Snowboard. Very similar sandbox gameplay that allows and rewards you for exploring beautiful environments.
Also wanted to mention that I'm completely sold on the Wuhu Island concept now (not that I really wasn't already). Just seeing the changes in the island that occured from Wii Fit to Sports Resort, it's easy to see how the island could evolve to whatever is needed while still providing a familiar environment to play in.
