Beat #12: Kamiko

It's a speed running version of a top down Zelda like game. It's way too easy, but the game feel is nice. It's all loud n punchy, kick ass tunes too.You can beat it in an hour, but it's worth the 5 bucks I spent on the Switch store.

Finally finished RAGE....feels good to be getting all these old games out of my backlog.

I had played about halfway through it on the 360 back in 2011 and hit some dumbass glitch that prevented me from going further. So I said fuck it and gave up. Now that I have it on Steam, I figured I'd take my chances on the PC since this is definitely the best version. Glad I picked it back up again....it gets really good right about where I left off on 360. There's parts of the game that really show some greatness from the midpoint on. It never captures the magic that the new DOOM does, but it's a solid game. The ending was a bit underwhelming though.

Just finished Dragon Quest Heroes. Great fan service, okay game. Hyrule Warriors is the far superior Musou game. Still, this was fun enough and I enjoyed seeing a bunch of the old characters I liked come back in 3-D for the first time. Getting to play with Terry almost makes me want to go back and give DQ6 another try. Almost, but not quite.

Because it's not really the same team. Apparently that game had other director's before Itsuno, and Itsuno came in late and "saved" the project. DMC2 could have apparently been worse.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Eerily similar to Dark Souls 2 in that way.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a step backwards in almost every way from the first. What the hell happened.

I mean, the larger question is how could anything be this massive step backwards from the first one. The first one was aight at best.

That's exactly my problem. First was an decent foundation they could build upon and they somehow screwed it up.

The pacing was way off where in the beginning it felt like you were in setpiece after set piece, then the middle was non-stop exploration, and the finale being almost non-stop action. Of course there were bits of all three in each act, but it felt skewed as hell. I was levelling up combat abilities from the start and only had like 3 or 4 encounters in the first 3 hours. Really odd design choices. Also the story sucked ass and having Lara say how beautiful something is over and over again is basically the devs circle jerking themselves off.

The first was merely okay to me. It was actually my first tomb raider.

Personally I thought the first Tomb Raider, the reboot that is, was excellent and I thought Rise improved it in nearly every way.

I agree..I enjoyed Rise, but I found the reboot more fun.

Just finished Metal Gear Rising, pretty awesome game. It's got excellent gameplay, the free mode blade is very cool how you can cut up enemies and objects pretty much any way and in as many pieces as you want. Some cool boss fights although a couple were frustrating as well. A really cool soundtrack. 9 out of 10.

Just beat the bonus boss in Titan Souls. I think Supreme posted about the game? Could have cut the fat a bit, but other than that was a very unique experience!
