I have done it, I have come up with a list of every single game I have ever beaten in my life. Now this list is probably not 100% correct as I cant remember perfectly which games I finished and which ones I did not but I think I have it close.

Using this site you can see all the games I have beaten, http://backloggery.com/dvader. Dont forget its split into beaten and completed, so combined I have finished494 unique games (a few games had multiple entries cause I own multiple copies, thats why that number doesnt match the number on the site). And now for my epic breakdown of my gaming conquest history/

By console:

I will put games from the VC, PSN and game collections that belong on older systems under that older systems category.

  • PS2 - 71
  • PS3 (including new PSN games)- 63
  • PS1 - 63
  • Genesis - 49
  • NES - 39
  • Xbox - 37
  • Wii (including WiiWare) - 24
  • GC - 23
  • DC - 22
  • Saturn - 20
  • DS - 17
  • Arcade - 16
  • SNES - 13
  • PC - 13
  • GBA - 8
  • N64 - 7
  • Game Gear - 6
  • GBC - 6
  • TG16 - 2
  • MSX - 2

As you can see, I have beaten most games on the PS systems. I consider the PS1 and PS2 to be the best consoles of all time and that is probably why, cause I have done so much of my gaming on those machines. Genesis at 4th is interesting, having the Genesis collection helps with that, but even without it I did all my 16-bit gaming on that system. NES would be higher but back then finishing games was much harder. I am surprised at how many Xbox games I finished. Nintendo systems didn't do so well, the Wii is already at the mark of the GC, so the Wii will easily be my most beat Nintendo console. I only beat 7 N64 games... only 13 SNES games, yikes.

By generation:

  • Last gen (PS2, Xbox, GC, GBA, DC) - 160
  • This gen (PS3, Wii, DS) - 103
  • 32-bit era (PS1, N64, Sat, GBC) - 96
  • 16-bit era (Gen, SNES, GG, TG16) - 70
  • 8-bit era (NES) - 39

No surprise here, the farther back I go the younger I was and the harder it was to complete games. Last gen I finsihed the most games but I am sure this gen will surpass that number easily.

By Publisher:

  • Sega - 95
  • Capcom - 56
  • Nintendo - 54
  • Konami - 37
  • Sony - 35
  • Lucasarts - 22
  • Take 2 - 14
  • Ubisoft - 14
  • Activision - 13
  • Square/Enix- 12
  • EA - 12
  • Eidos - 12
  • Namco - 11
  • Midway - 9
  • Psygnosis - 5
  • Microsoft - 4

What a landslide, without a doubt I have finished far more Sega games than any other. Nearly 100 games of theirs spanning so many genres, franchises, and eras. They are truly one of the greatest gaming companies of all time. I am shocked that Capcom managed to sneak past Nintendo for second place. Nintendo of course is high on the list, without question most of the best games of all time come from them and I have tried to play as many as I can. Konami was around all my life, no doubt it was going to be high up. Sony rounds up the high numbers, they came strong the last three gens. All Japanese companies at the top of course, Japan >>> rest of world. The rest of the list has the usual suspects. I left out all those other companies that had a few games. Of note, Psygnosis with 5 games, they kicked ass during the PS1 era.

By Franchise:

  • Star Wars - 22
  • Sonic - 18
  • Mario - 15
  • Castlevania - 13
  • Zelda - 13
  • Resident Evil - 12
  • Mega Man - 11
  • Metroid - 8
  • Metal Gear - 8
  • Virtua Fighter - 7
  • GTA - 7
  • Mortal Kombat - 7
  • Final Fantasy - 6
  • TMNT - 6
  • Ratchet and Clank - 5
  • Legacy of Kain - 5

On this list I cheated a bit cause I just stuck all games from one property into one franchise. So when you see Star Wars, its every single game with the word Star Wars in it, even though its split into many franchises. I have finished more Star Wars games than even Sonic ones, which surprises me. What doesn't surprise me is that I finished 18 sonic games, more than Mario which has a ton of different franchises going on. That said, they are both whores, so don't you dare try to argue that Mario has less games cause he doesn't. Castlevania and Zelda tied at 13, the reason being that there aren't more than 13 Zelda games (Link isn't a whore), if they make them I will play. Resident Evil is at 12, thats that I have not played all the spin-offs, nor do I want to. Mega Man has 11 and I skiped over the X series (except the first). Metroid is the same as Zelda, they need to make more of them. Metal Gear, played them all, need more (oops I lie, I need to finish VR Missions, oh and that Portable Ops, and those Acid games... I change my statement, I need more NOT ON THE PSP). I have been a loyal fan of VF since the beginning and I will continue to be. Yes I liked Mortal Kombat a lot. Yes I was a nutcase for TMNT. Yes I have beatenevery single Kain game, and I would buy more.

"I have finished more Star Wars games than even Sonic ones, which surprises me."

That's because as bad as many Star Wars games are these days they're still better than Sonic. Nyaa

The difference between Mario and Sonic is that Mario is an expensive classy whore, while Sonic is a crack whore!

You know what, I can agree with that. The good thing about Mario is that there have actually been very few true Super Mario games and they are always of high quality. Can't say the same about Sonic.

I almost beaten all Metroid games, I need to play Metroid 2. (and I guess that pinball game but who wants to play that). I might have to cheat and just emulate that one.

Pinball does not count! Good game though, but it's a spin-off!

You can buy Metroid 2 from me, I say 200 bucks! We have a deal?!

GG you never came back. Sad

Lost Planet is finished and that couldn't come quick enough. I found it to be a boring slow paced shooter that gets way too repetitive too fast. When I say its slow I dont mean there are portions of no action, the game always has enemies in your face, the pace of the main character is slow, really freaking slow. The core gameplay basically has you running slowly while moving your cursor all over the screen while shooting tons of aliens and some human characters. The shooting is extremely loose, it does not feel like any of your shots have any weight to it, it might as well be a bullet hose cause all your are doing is spraying gunfire everywhere. All the enemies have a giant yellow spot which you are supposed to hit, yeah there are many different types of enemies but they are all killed the same way so it gets kind of boring. What youplay in the first two or three levels is what you do for the whole game. There are also mechs which to me is the saving grace, there are many types and it can be fun getting into fights with huge enemies or other mechs.

There are plenty of bosses and they are good but they follow the same pattern, hit the yellow glowy thing. There is little imagination at all to the levels, you have this hookshot that allows you to climb up areas but the game hardly uses it for anything. There are no memorable action setpieces cause its always a room with aliens or humans or a mix of bothalways doing the same attacks. There is never a moment where your gameplay strategy needs to change. Oh there is an online mode which is actually ok if you put some time into it.

To top it off the PS3 port looks like ass. Thats not why I dont like this game, I dont like it cause the gameplay was boring to me. I don't trust Lost Planet 2 now.

Overall Score: 6.1
