I was honestly shocked at how far ahead Sega was from every other publisher. I thought Nintendo would be right there.

This isometric view Zeldaish like game is probably one game many Genesis owners missed out on. For some reason Sega let this franchise disappear, I dont know why cause it could be a very special franchise. You control an elf dude in green garb with a sword and he is followed around by a fairy. Sounds familar, except the fairy wants to fuck the elf, the world is filled with sexual innuendo, there are whore houses, and its generally hilarious. It's like a parody of the whole fantasy theme but it retains all the elements that makes a great action adventure fantasy game. It has a large world to explore, lots of hidden secrets to find, towns to visit and some devilish dungeons. The dungeons in particular are very difficuly, often mixing puzzle solving with platforming elements. Action is simple hack and slash, its not like Zelda where you have multiple weapons to use. Because of this boss fights tend to be simple as well. Even with the shallow combat the game remains fresh cause the puzzles are very well done and the dungeons are freaking mazes. Its a lengthy game as well, it has all the elements to be Sega's Zelda.

Except some moron decided that platforming in an isometric view is fun, especially when you have no FREAKING SHADOW. It's so annoying to try and figure out what plane you on, what level of depth are you. So many dunegons are designed with rooms where you need to do complex jumps on moving platforms and if you fall it usually takes you several rooms back and you need to work your way all the way, probably making you do even more annoying segements in the process. It's way too annoying. I bet the majority of people that played this game have not finished it. If it wasn't for this it would be a 9 game.

Overall Score: 8.5

Boom Blox:

The best puzzle game on the wii. It gives you a plethora of puzzles and mini games to play through it bite sized chunks. It is perfect for quick gaming sessions and addicting enough to go on a marathon session. This game uses the wiimote is almost every way possible. You shoot, you grab, you pull, you throw, and you know what it doesn't do, no stupid shaking. Its a huge game with over 300 puzzles in the single player mode. The puzzles start off very simple but continue to get more and more complex as you go. The best part is that the game is always throwing something new at you, even after hundreds of levels you will find a new type of puzzle. It has a create a level mode, sadly the sharing is done with friend codes so that is ruined. It is also a blast with others, either competitive or co-op. It is a game all wii owners should buy.

Overall Score: 9.0

Yes. Different type of game but if I had to choose one I would choose Boom Blox.

I definitely need to pick it up at some point, but I'm not sure whether I should go fro it or the sequel. 2s much more expensive, but i can wait until it's as cheap as the original.

Has GG or anyone played both?

No, I haven't been able to sell the original BB, which I was going to use the money from to buy the sequel. Its unfortunate that EA chose to release the sequel so early and not for Christmas as it would have been a surefire full price buy.

I would say get the sequel, each game has hundreds of levels, so much content but the sequel has an open level sharing system so has unlimited play value as there are over a thousand UC levels up now.

Yeah, I was reading a review by Pierst (I should invite him here actually!) and it sounds like the second is not a whole lot different in terms of gameplay, but is far more polished with even more content. 

I'll wait then. They better not make a third! Nyaa Hrm

Unless you want to sell the first for a price not resulting in enough funds to get the second. Nyaa

Yeah the second has the internet functionality the first one should have. No friend codes, an open, instant download function and ratings etc.

Not only that because the levels are in code form and all assets are already on the disc, you literally click a button on the game menu and it can download tons of new levels in seconds.

I'm browsing the IGN review right now. Over 400 single player levels.

New physics and gravity for underwater and space, new blox shapes, characters etc. Better visuals a medal system where if you get stuck you can skip a level by purchasing it with rewards and move onto the next.

EA has expanded upon the first title's create mode with a more fully-featured editor that allows access to more blocks, balls and tools than ever before, yes, but also enables very intuitive handshaking to EA's servers so that you can upload and download new stages in a flash. The ability to download new content is integrated not only into the editor, but each of the main game's stage sub-sections, too, so that if you've completed all the space missions, you can click on a button to download more and will be playing EA and fan-created submissions literally within 30 seconds.

It's that fast. By the time you get the game, EA will have already supplied dozens of new levels for your downloading pleasure and the company is committed to providing more on a regular basis until the number of extra stages matches those that ship with the game. That's a whole lot of additional content to keep you playing and it doesn't even consider all the great puzzles sure to come from fans around the world. The developer even lets you rate your favorite stages, search by name or level types, and much more, for a very easy to navigate online experience.
