Being an avid gamer for 30+ years my hobo instincts are all I need. I'll take professional reviews and general user impressions into account in figuring out if there are specific problems in a game that I may or may not be able to overlook but it is extremely rare for me to specifically ask for a recommendation. With how closely I follow gaming news and with the bigger proliferation of demos I can tell if a game will be something I'll want usually pretty early on.

So wrong. Cybernator has layers of complexity to the gameplay, not just Contra twitch simpleton gameplay. You could use gravity, stick to surfaces, block, fly with boosters, rebound shots off walls and more.

For reference what does $10 buy you in America. Over here that's like a ready meal price. Or the price of a paperback book.

What's a ready meal? Is it like McDonalds or a higher quality restaurant? The average fast-food combo meal goes for $5-$6, and higher quality restaurant meals go for around $10-$15. Most paperback books go for $8 here, and $10 will buy you an N64 VC game.
I did, however, get certain games that got a lot of hype and good reviews that I ended up hating. TWEWY, obviously, was one of these games.

Yeah but you charged me $12.00. You give it away for $10? I want my $2 back.

It's not here yet, but I'll let you know when it is.
Overlord 2? You mean the PS3 one or are you talking Dark Legend because overall I said it was OK and had a lot of faults, not enough ambition or decent level design. I liked it a lot to begin with but the pacing was languid in that it didn't pick up when it needed to and the technical faults just marred what could have been a decent experience. It's a 7.5 game, maybe lower.
But I assume you got it cheap like I did so there isn't much to complain about.
Yup, I mean the wii one! And yeah, it sounded flawed but like a lot of fun (at times). That works for me if it's cheap!
i also love recommendations for old games i have more than likely missed out upon first time around (as i couldn't afford any consoles until the late 90ies and was pretty much an arcade gamer as a teenager - with the exception of the original gameboy). once again phantom_leo and spirit_of_87 have invaluable input in such threads as well ... unlike gg whose one strong recommendation - cybernator - i found a bit long in the tooth (contra 3, it ain't)
