The only one I played (to completion) out of that list is Ni No Kuni. I enjoyed it thoroughly and I recommend it highly.
Would also recommend Rogue Galaxy (because Level-5), and Persona 4 and Baten Kaitos because they are meant to be brilliant. And since you're definitely playing Dragon Age, I'd make the second game a JRPG.
1. Rogue Galaxy is a surprisingly average game. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was utterly bored by it.
2. Ni No Kuni was fun, but a little inconsistent. The battle system is very hate it or love it. The AI isn't real good, so it can be frustrating or you'll figure out how to break the system to your advantage. There's a few insane difficulty spikes too that have been known to drive some people away. Still it's worth trying.
3. Persona 4 is great and is my favorite on your list. It takes 5 hours to get into the meat of the game so you may get bored before it gets good (though it's never as painful as something like Kingdom Hearts 2). You'll miss out on a few references of you haven't played 3, but nothing real important.
I'd recommend Dragon Age 3, Star Ocean TLH, and Baldur's Gate HD.
I found Ni No Kuni to be ho-hum and the story uninteresting.
Rogue Galaxy was ok but you couldn't help hoping that it should have turned out better.
Tales of Graces was pretty ho-hum as well and I found it to be the weaker of the Tales games of which I generally enjoy.
I haven't played enough or any of the other games.
I'm leaning towards Persona 4 but I know its really long, as is Dragon Age, so it may be a bit draining trying to take on those back to back.
Maybe I'll try Star Ocean. Haven't played a game in that series in ages.
Your list of unplayed RPGs matches mine, and I have the same ones on hold.
I loves the first three Star Oceans, but the PS2 one blew so I don't think I even bothered with the last gen one.
Just checked the library, I have a sealed copy of the 360 one. Looking forward to retirement I am.

Just hope that artritis doesn't catch up with you first. What a cruel joke that would be...

By the time I retire Google Health Authority will be providing free robotic apendages that makes money off me by charging advertisers everytime I wank.

I don't think Google's intentions are to bankrupt the social care and pension system. They would be pushing too many elderly people too deep into poverty.

I'm taking a 2 week vacation at the end of October & I want to use this opportunity to get through at least a few of the longer games in my backlog. I definitely think Dragon Age 3 is going to be the main one, but I thought maybe you guys could suggest a few just to give me some direction.
Here is a list of choices:
- Dragon Age 3
- Final Fantasy Type 0
- Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning
- Ni No Kuni
- Star Ocean The Last Hope
- Rogue Galaxy
- Persona 4
- Folklore
- Tales of Graces
- Baten Kaitos Origins
- Baldur's Gate HD
Out of that list I recommend Splatoon.

Oh god, we've lost you to Destiny? I wondered why you did not post anymore.
And, you have to play Endless Ocean before Splatoon or the cephalopod references will be lost on you.
Ooooops.
Really, don't waste any time on Folklore or Kingdoms of Amalur anyway. Folklore pretty much sucks and would be nearly unplayable today. Kingdoms of Amalur gets pathetically easy way too quickly; there's literally NO challenge to the game whatsoever. I don't know of anyone that's actually been compelled to play it through to the end. Rogue Galaxy is probably Level 5 at it's worst and Star Ocean and Tales of Graces are probably low points for their series. The rest are much better... Hope Halo 5 lives up to its legacy!
