Here you have it. In no particular order, my Top-Ten games for 2015! As you may have seen, I wasn't able to finish many games this year at all, and even so, one of the games I did finish (Arkham City) isn't even on the list! If I went by number of hours devoted to a game alone, my top two would already be decided, but it never works out to be that easy. Stay tuned from now until Christmas as the order of games is revealed!

Super Mario Maker (Wii U)

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition (PS4)

Fallout 4 (PS4)

Will probably get the most played award.  But I think Witcher III will be numero uno overall.

10. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4) -- Maybe this game would have been higher had I reached the surprising twists everyone else seemed to hint at in the Official Topic, dunno. The thing is, I try to be inherently "good" in all the games I play. MGSV, imho, doesn't do a very good job at making a Non-Lethal run of the game fun! All was looking incredible, the game starts with a BANG! and even throws in a little "Man-Ass" to boot. It certainly got my attention from the word go! BUT, once I actually got the freedom to do missions, I found a lot of traversing terrain, a lot of laying prone in fields and stealth that wasn't as much fun as past Metal Gears. Maybe I'm playing it wrong. I just don't see the crazy, open-ended solutions to missions that were being shown online before the game launched. I may just have to bite the bullet and start killing the bad guys instead. I don't mean to sound too down on the game. The open-world is utterly beautiful and the game engine is incredible. I love the idea of building your home base (again). The fulton capture never gets old. Even though I'm nowhere near the end, I --DO-- resent Konami not allowing Kojima to finish what he started and I don't like that I've heard the ending is somewhat lack-luster. I cannot get used to not having Hayter, either. Seeing a Metal Gear this low on my GOTY list even has me scratching my head, wondering what happened, especially when I look at the types of games I hold in a higher regard this year! Maybe my attitude will change when I get a chance to play it more, but for now, it just barely made it into the Top-Ten!

Solid list of games there. My money is on Disgaea 5, Divinity, and Darius being in the top three.

If I were to base my GOTY award on the ever amusing and amazing reactions the game has received from a certain online streamer, aka Patrick Klepeck, Super Mario Maker would win by a long shot!

Dude has earned serious gamer cred, respect and utter admiration from me from his dedication to Mario Maker. Just LOOK at that face he makes when he's realized he's finished a SUPER DIFFICULT level!!  <3  Grinning

Dan Rykert deserves it more. I mean think about it, he had to beat those levels in practice, and then had the joy of watching Patrick suffer. Plus that laugh: https://youtu.be/5LZeCZYtmvw?t=47m1s

09. DariusBurst: Chronicle Saviours (PS4) -- Yes, a game about shooting space fish beat MGSV in my Top-Ten Games of the Year. Don't make me get a gif of that dog with sunglasses! The game itself is pretty basic, it's everything it represents to me that makes it special. Before home consoles grew to be the huge thing they are today, gaming was relegated to something you did in a dimly lit room in a mall or off-the-beaten-path building somewhere in your home town. I'm talking about arcades. Kids, or adults, young and old, would gather there to marvel in the latest technologies and challenges of the newest game featured by the owners. This was before the days of the internet; if you wanted to learn how to beat something in a game, you would either have to struggle through yourself or go to the arcade and observe or ask. There was a lot of cooperation amongst the people that eventually evolved into today's Gamers. Gaming being what it is, of course, there was a lot of friendly competition too! Some games would allow you to enter your initials for the world to see; of course, a lot would erase your score after the game was shut off at the end of the night. Some games had no record keeping for scores at all! In either case, it was the arcade owners job to get a dry-erase board, track, verify and record the highest scores reached in the popular games in his or her arcade. Cooperation, competition and a tiny bit of fame. If you think about it, THIS is where it all began! Arcades had a TON of shooters way back when, starting with Space Wars and Space Invaders, through Defender, Galaga, Galaxian and Gorf, to the R-Types, Raidens, Forgotten Worlds and beyond. Simple in execution, they still took skill to play and scores meant everything! DariusBurst embodies the spirit of the arcade, but it reaches far passed the boundaries of your home and makes it a global thing! In Chronicles mode there are thousands of stage variations. You are assigned to a 'Cabinet' upon first starting the game. Other people throughout the world could be assigned to your cabinet. Zones are interconnected hexagons, but they are not all accessible from the outset. Someone in your cabinet must beat an adjoining zone before you can access it or you need to beat it for others to proceed. The first person to open the zone is recorded. The highest score for that zone is recorded as well, for all the world to see. So, DariusBurst: Chronicle Saviours is an arcade-like game where gamers need to cooperate and compete on a global scale to succeed. What's NOT to love? It's the modern day equivalent of everything I described above! There's so much more to the game than I even mentioned here, but for the reasons mentioned above alone, this game easily deserves a top spot on my personal games of the year!

This Klepeck and Rykert shit is just too meta. Post-voyeurism.

I kinda felt like you did when I first started MGSV. Definitely get back to it, and be a little bit more adventurous. Once the penny drops it's glorious.

Agreed. Of course, if I were making mario levels for you to beat that would be different.
